Open Site Explorer doesn't update correctly
-
We have been using OSE for a little over 2 Months now and our link demographics haven't changed although we have been getting lots of backlinks from other blogs and webpages.
Google Webmaster Tools displays these links but OSE, even after the updates, doesn't.
Our domain is about 1 Year old and has had indexed content on it since June this year.Google Webmaster Tools shows 24 Links to our domain but OSE only 3. The domain is http://www.wellbo.de

I posted the same question to the latest blog post on the linkscape update and i got some great advice. Essentially, don't rely simply on one source (even though SEOMOz rocks) for reviewing backlinks and authority. Some referred me to Majestic SEO and so far it is extremely close to YSE and WT. Check it out:
The free account will let you explorer basic backlink stats for any URL.

OSE requires up to 60 days to find new links. The updates are based on the Linkscape crawl of the web which takes 2-3 weeks to complete. Once the crawl is complete, it takes 1-2 weeks to process and publish the data. Depending on when your link is published and the importance of the web page involved (i.e. PA/DA) the link may not be discovered during the current crawl cycle.
Also keep in mind Linkscape only crawls the top 25% of web pages on the internet. For the most part, if a link does not appear in OSE after 2 cycles the link has little to no value.
The index was updated last on November 28th. It will be updated again on January 4th. The update calendar can be seen here: http://seomoz.zendesk.com/entries/345964-linkscape-update-schedule
It had been updated previously on November 2nd. If you are aware of a link which was definitely in place in October but does not appear in OSE, please share the link and we can offer feedback. Most often the link is on a page with no importance. A few other likely possibilities:
-
the page is noindexed or blocked by robots.txt
-
the page is buried deep on the site
-
the site is an island page with no links to it
-
the site has indexing / navigation issues
-
the site has low DA/PR and the page is too many clicks from the home page to be crawled.

Is putting a manufacturer's product manual on my site in PDF duplicate content
I add the product manuals to our product pages to provide additional product information to our customers. Is this considered duplicate content? Is there a best way to do this so that I can offer the information to my customers without getting penalized for it? Should they be indexable? If not how do I control?

Link's that are an internal site search?
Hi hope your're all well. I sell Red, Blue, Green Widgets within each color I have many sub types, the subtypes change all the time, and a sub type has many variations in itself. I'd like to set up links that direct customers to popular searches of sub types say: widgets.com/red/blue-spots....search string... Will Google crawl these search links and see that there is good content behind it? How does Google handle links that are also a site search? Can it be bad and should I "no follow" them? Hope someone can give me some direction on these, many thanks in advance!

Traffic on my website hasn't gone up since
Anyone please I am looking for some help!! My website used to get around 40 to 50 visitors a day, as soon as I created the new website and put it live, traffic has dropped by 25%, page authority for the new and some of the old URL's are only 1, but my keywords are still doing well? I have made sure that I have redirected all the old URL's to the new ones, the tracking code in at the end section of the head section. Any ideas anyone?

How Many Words To Make Content 'unique?'
Hi All, I'm currently working on creating a variety of new pages for my website. These pages are based upon different keyword searches for cars, for example used BMW in London, Used BMW in Edinburgh and many many more similar kinds of variations. I'm writing some content for each page so that they're completely unique to each other (the cars displayed on each page will also be different so this would not be duplicated either). My question is really, how much content do you think that I'll need on each page? or what is optimal? What would be the minimum you might need? Thank for your help!

If you are organizing the site structure for an ecommerce site, how would you do it?
Should you use not use slashes and use all dashes or use just a few slashes and the rest with dashes? For example, domain.com/category/brand/product-color-etc OR domain.com/anythinghere-color-dimensions-etc Which structure would you rather go for and why?

Does a CMS inhibit a site's crawlability?
I smell baloney but I could use a little backup from the community! My client was recently told by an SEO that search engines have a hard time getting to their site because using a CMS (like WordPress) doesn't allow "direct access to the html". Here is what they emailed my client: "Word Press (like your site is built with) and other similar “do it yourself” web builder programs and websites are not good for search engine optimization since they do not allow direct access to the HTML. Direct HTML access is needed to input important items to enhance your websites search engine visibility, performance and creditability in order to gain higher search engine rankings." Bots are blind to CMSs and html is html, correct? What do you think about the information given by the other SEO?

Google Has Indexed Most of My Site, why won't Bing?
We've got 600K+ pages indexed by Google and have submitted our same sitemap.xml's to Bing, but have only seen 100-200 pages get indexed by Bing. Is this fairly typical? Is there anything further we can do to increase indexation on Bing?
