Google Maps/Places in Organic SERP
-
This question is regarding having a Google Places snippet consisting of your business location and opening hours appearing in Google SERP when the business name is searched for.
One of our competitors who has a location within their name e.g. 'Widgets of Oxford' have a Google Places snippet appear on the RHS of the search results (where Google Ads usually go) when searched for.
We are trying to replicate this for our business but cannot seem to find any information relating to doing this apart from that this only appears for them as they have a location in their name. This is because we see a similar snippet when we search for our business name in the format "OurBusinessName in OurLocation).
Any help on this matter would be greatly appreciated.

i have this happaning for a couple of clients, I cannot say for sure why it works for them and not others, but it happaned after I added images to their listing. I added cutout images by the way just in case it makes a difference, they certainly look better as local images are a bit small.

Hi There,
The main requirement is to make sure that you fill all the textboxes when optimizing your listing. You need to make sure you provide all the information that is required and fill in all the additional boxes.
Categories are really important - make sure you include the keywords you want to rank for here but dont keyword stuff- try adding the location. keep it readable. make it exciting and included some sort of "call to action"
And take advantage of the additional details section. This is where you can actually add in some of your keywords. But please be reminded – don’t keyword stuff, keep it useful and readable for users. Take one field and mention all your service areas. If your products or services can be grouped somehow, then split them up you can list your accreditations and awards, the reservations page on your website, the suburbs you service. Whatever, if your business does it, figure out a way to put it in the additional details section.
Encouraging Reviews. To increase localization visibility a customer review generation strategy is required. Client needs to encourage customers to write and submit reviews to the websites listed above either via facebook, mailers or by offering discounts and special offers in store.
-
Send a message to your Facebook fans or email list and ask them to leave a review at your Google Place page
-
If you send out follow up, or reminder, post cards (such as many dentists) incorporate a call to action to review your business
-
Put a call to action (and link) asking for a review on your web site
-
Display a sign by your cash register or hand them a flier with their receipt asking for a review
-
Make sure to make the process as easy as possible, provide a link to your Places page and give detailed instructions on what they need to do leave a review.
Hope this helps
Thanks
Ari

Negative SEO with Google Images
We have a client in the heavy equipment industry that is trying to "push down" images in a Google image search that are associated with an accident over ten years ago. This client has launched a new website, and we have applied the best practices of on-page SEO (page titles, unique meta-descriptions, alt-image tags, focused keyword targeting, etc.). The challenge we have is with Google Image results. It seems the image results shown in the Google Image search rankings are often not inline with how images have been labeled in the alt-tag section. I have checked these images with the Moz Chrome extension, and I have often found the way the image is labeled in the alt-tag is not related to the search query made within the Google image search bar. I certainly may not be factoring in other weighted items when it comes to how images are ranked. Are there other ranking factors associated with Google Image results outside of the Alt-Image Tag? If so, what are those factors? Our ultimate goal is to provide a strategy that would allow us to tag images within this specific sector that are relevant to this specific heavy equipment product, and at the same time, "push down" the rankings of the images that have a negative association to them. We certainly want to take the right approach here, and want to earn these rankings. However, the way Google ranks images seems to be a mystery of sorts. Is there a specific strategy relevant to Google Image rankings that would fall inline with the challenge listed above? I appreciate any advice on this topic. Thank you.

Image results Bing vs Google
I have a website with a number of images and I have optimized all of the images on both a file name and ALT text level, relevant to content on the page they are published on. I haven't created a separate image sitemap, but the strange thing is that Google has all of my images indexed and they can be found for the right keywords, but when I look in BING! images, there is no image indexed available at all ...

How can we boost our rankings in a London-based Google search?
Hi all, I work for enterprise app development & mobile consultancy, Mubaloo. We tend to rank fairly well on Google for our targeted keywords in the Bristol area but not as well in London. Obviously there is more competition in London but that aside, we still don't rank brilliantly. We use our London address as our main address on our website, same for our London telephone number. Both of our offices are submitted to Google Maps and we include blog content with London and Bristol in the headers. Our main HQ is in Bristol but the London office is growing. What are the ways we can improve our rankings from a London-based Google search? Thank you in advance!

Google places - We currently do not support the location
Hi My Google places listing has vanished from the local search results, and when clicking on the 'see your listing on Google' link from the Google Places dashboard I am getting the message We currently do not support the location What is causing this is it due to another listing with the same address? I have now deleted this extra listing which is now showing as suspended until I enter the pin which will remove it. But what other steps do I need to take to get the listing back on google places search results?

Google + Local for client with no physical address and multiple phone nos
Hi I have a client who is service-based and goes out to his local customers' homes to conduct his business. He operates from home so does not want to show his home address, he also has a number of local telephone numbers that divert to his mobile. I was wondering which type of category to put his business into, my ideal would be local business but for that I need to add the address the question is can I still hide the address the way you used to in the old format or is there other recommendations to optimise his local placement?
