Creating Content for Several Local Keywords

I have a client who is in the lead generation business for a specific aesthetic service. The company basically generates leads through SEO and sells them to hundreds of local businesses across the US and Canada.
There is some serious competition for the main service keyword (this is not the real keyword) e.g. “liposuction” and over the past year we have seen rankings fall significantly (from top 3 to 13-15).
But... what I have found is that most of the traffic, particularly the highly converting traffic, comes from local keyword variations e.g. “liposuction in san diego”. However, these keywords are also highly competitive because there are several local businesses in these areas.
How would you suggest creating content for these pages when they are all extremely similar and we need to target 100s of cities? For example the page “liposuction in san diego” is very similar to the page “liposuction in sacramento”, ect ect.

That's fantastic. There is no better domain to have for this type of site. I have a couple of these too.
What would you do with the local city pages?
I compete in local SERPs with pages that have lots of local facts, statistics, graphs, maps, links to local sources of services and information.
In an effort to create authority for the domains I have authored lots of content about the most highly searched topics, obtained content contributions from experts in the field (if you own liposuction.com there might be experts in that field who would write an article for you simply because it will be published on the KW.com and visible to a lot of people. These are not SEO articles from people who want a link they are informative content from people who have a message to spread. Most of this content is written to be "the first document that a person interested in learning about a subject should read".
Owning this type of domain gives you an enormous advantage over your competitors.

If you have a root keyword similar to "liposuction" then you are going to be under major major attack from doctors who are willing to invest big money for an ongoing web visibility campaign.
A few things that I forgot to mention: my client owns the industry domain name. e.g. liposuction.com. Also the website has been live and owned by the same person since 2000.
1) a sustainable plan that will create and continuously increase a massive level of authority for my website..... an enormous library of best-on-the-web liposuction articles that attracts thousands of links from med schools, physicians, bloggers, government health sites, etc.... that thousands of people post to facebook and tweet about....
How would you go about this from an SEO stand point? Most of the traffic in the industry seems to be coming from local search. This strategy would appear to gain links and ultimately rankings for general search terms that are not at a local level.
What would you do with the local city pages? Would you get rid of them all together? Or would you keep them in place and ultimately have their rankings driven by the internal pagerank of the website? If you would keep them what sort of content would you have on these pages.

As local businesses become SEO savvy and aggressive your job is going to become more and more and more and more difficult. To hold your rankings you must be able to respond to SEOs attacking your SERPs in every city where you want rankings. If you have a root keyword similar to "liposuction" then you are going to be under major major attack from doctors who are willing to invest big money for an ongoing web visibility campaign.
If I was in that niche I would be looking for one of two things.....
- a sustainable plan that will create and continuously increase a massive level of authority for my website..... an enormous library of best-on-the-web liposuction articles that attracts thousands of links from med schools, physicians, bloggers, government health sites, etc.... that thousands of people post to facebook and tweet about....
or....
2) I would start working on a project that will diversity my income

How to deal with this duplicate content

MEP Design Services Our target audiences are in the US and UK. Offcource, we are targetting above services keywords on most of our main pages and created dedicated services pages too. But lately, we found out that we are ranking well for keywords like Outsourcing Engineering Design Services, Outsourcing Architectural Design Services, etc... which are actually very very good keywords in terms of closing the leads/inquiries as people are actually looking out for outsourcing but the search count for those keywords is low. (though we closed 2 inquiries from those keywords). These pages we created in past just to increase the content of the website. I really want to give it a try to target those keywords by creating more pages, blog posts, backlinks, etc... My question is if we create more and more pages around those keywords then will it affect the rankings of the pages which are already ranking for those keywords or will the new pages compete against those pages or the new pages will help to boost current pages? We can write good content and blog posts on the outsourcing topic but not sure if we should create new pages or increase the length of the existing pages. Can you guys please help with some directions on this as I really don't want to take the wrong route. Look forward! Regards0 -
Creating Content for over 50,000 Pages
Hi, Our site is a football (soccer) statistics sites. We gather information on upcoming games and post results of past games. At the moment we have over 50,000 pages of results each having in-game data displayed. The main problem I have is none of these match data pages has any text.Mostly tables of stats. Could anyone suggest a way of creating unique content for these pages? If I created some generic a paragraphic of text that changed based on stats and figures would this be seen as duplicate content?

Front page, keyword strategi?
Hi, Should the front page target a mixture of the most important keywords for the whole site (on page optimization)

Each important keyword already has it´s own dedicated page (single keyword optimized)
...so either way the front page would "compete" against another internal page on a specific keyword, but maybe that´s the wrong way of looking at this?
Almost all external backlinks are pointing to the front page so I guess that´s the real strength of the front page but it does not provide in depth good value for a specific keyword. Thanks!/Anders0 -
Optimizing pages for keywords
I have a couple of websites for retailing the western chaps manufactured by my company. I have recently tried to increase my learning for SEO since one of my main sites (started in 2006) just lost about 45% of it's organic search volume since the end of May. It seems my search to learn just creates more and more questions. I have been using google adwords for several years now and have used that information to find the most searched keywords. There are some general keywords like western chaps and cowboy chaps that receive decent search volume. If I get more specific to a certain type of chap, chinks for example, the popular high volume keywords are chinks, chinks chaps, western chinks, and cowboy chinks. These all relate to one type of chap...the chink. I want to be visible for these keywords, but how does one optimize for more than one without diluting? Should I also try to optimize on the homepage of my sites for the general terms like western chaps and cowboy chaps? Can I optimize for both? I could really use some help. Any experts out there up to the job of consulting for me, some with extensive knowledge and experience? I'm not looking for the SEO giants with hundreds of clients. I don't feel that I will get the proper value from those types. My company is small and spending is an issue, that's why I would like someone to consult with. I should be able to do most of the labor, I just need the knowledge.

Keyword in URL: Ranking Factor?
I've got a site about a specific topic, which we'll call "themes" for the sake of this discussion. I personally like to keep the url structure short and clean (for usability purposes, but mainly because I'm a perfectionist and a minimalist). I feel that adding "themes" to the url structure is a bit redundant. However, nearly every keyword phrase that my site should rank for includes the word "themes." So I'm wondering how much I'm handicapping myself by not including the keyword "themes" in the url? The domain name itself sort of includes the keyword . . . although it's in Italian (I chose the domain for it's brand-ability, not for the keyword). A quick example: My Url Structure: www.themo.com/topic/abc My Competitor's Url Structure: www.sitesample.com/themes/topic/abc For many of the keywords, the competitors with the keyword in the url rank highest. But, I'm not sure how much emphasis to place on this, because from my understanding Google doesn't pay as much attention to url keywords anymore . . . and those sites might just be ranking high because they've been around for so long (which also happens to be the reason why they coincidentally also include the keyword in the url, because they started the site when that was a high ranking factor). Thoughts? Should I just trash my perfectionism and add the keyword to the url structure? (By the way, the site is only a couple months old and doesn't have any significant backlinks to inner pages yet, so changing the url structure wouldn't be a big deal if I decided to do that).

Problem with Occurrences of Keyword
At "On-Page Report " i have noticed that the only important problem my site has is the "Occurrences of Keyword " it says that i have ONLY 14.156 keyword repeat. My page ofcourse does not have so many repeats of same keyword. In fact this keyword is shown 10 times as i saw at source code of this page i tested. This report is for one page or for all pages of domain ? My keyword was two words keyword if that matters but there is no way that keywords to be repeated so many times.

Keywords with accents
Hi, We are running a website in Spain to teach touch typing to children (www.mecanografia.com). Our main keyword is mecanografia (touch typing in Spanish) which is official written with an accent on the i. Our SEOMOZ on page optimization report was initially an F because we set the keyword mecanografia without an accent and on the page we use the grammatically correct version with an accent on the i. Once we added the keyword with accent to SEOMOZ our rapport was upgraded to an A. Our question is: how does Google treat accents. Is it necessary to optimize for words with and without accent or does one version suffice. Users search about 50% of the time without using the accent. Any advice is greatly appreciated!
