Back linking: Relevance or Domain Authority?
-
For back linking, what is more important for increasing rank for organic searches on Google?
I've noticed that linking on sites with high domain authority that have some or no relevance boost my keyword ranking. However, does back linking on relevant sites help if their domain authority is not so high?

I would take the Pope's irrelevant link as well, if the domain authority was higher than the PR7 site.
What I'm saying is that it seems there more credibility to pages with higher domain authority than Page Rank.
From what I'm reading it seems like Page Rank is dead. or at least counts for only 5% of ranking algorithm today.

So what I'm getting at is DA>relevance when it comes to ranking.
Although I believe it's nice to have High Domain Authority / Relevance sites, it's hard to get on them when you're back linking to niche keywords in a world of big brand competitors or your competition is just spam linking(which is a factor why they are number #1). They are linked to over 2k domains while we are close to 600.
I figure the more domains you are linked to the better.
The better domain authority, (regardless of relevance or Page Rank) will boost your rank.
I believe that Domain authority plays a bigger part in ranking than relevance. However, I do believe that Relevance will play just as equal part as domain authority in future google updates.
I am also open to constructive criticism.

Normally... if I had a choice between a link on a relevant PR2 page and a link on an irrelevant PR5 page I would opt for the PR2 link.
However, if I had a choice between a relevant PR7 page and a PR2 page on the Pope's new site (which would not be relevant to my site for sure! )... I would take the link from the Pope.
... just sayin' what I would do.... no proof on what would really happen. I think that the Pope would give a kickass link!

When conducting a link building strategy does it matter the country the link is from?
We are a UK business and if we have links mostly from US based blogs and websites does this penalise us. The links are from relevant websites and topics. Should we be focusing on .co.uk sites

Link Building where link building is dead. Latest tactics in a land of content.
Hello, What is your latest link building techniques considering manual link building is basically dead, and you should really build good content to drive results. Link building has really become less important. It seems to be much more 10X content now. What would you recommend for basic link building considering this besides the 50 first Links video by Rand, which is excellent. Thanks, Bob

Not Receiving Credit for all Linking Domains
Hey guys, So I'm having trouble understanding why we aren't receiving credit for linking root domains by Moz. Our site URL is https://www.expertip.net Google states that we have 3,648 links - most of which were obtained by Yext indexing us for our locations. We don't seem to be getting credit for ANY of those links. Most seem to be reputable, like yellowpages.com, etc. and google shows 156 domains. Any help here can be appreciated. I believe that we've followed best practices as far as root domains and 301s go. I've attached images to show further. Thanks,

Manual Links Vs. Smart Links
Hey Everybody, Is there any downside to the smart link plugins that I see all over wordpress? Basically in short I enter a keyword and where I want that link to go (primarily internal) and set the parameters of repetition etc and it automatically adds the link to that. Now other than the obvious situation where it might put a link in an awkward place, is there anything wrong with this sort of software? Part of me things that this sort of software would not be liked by Google, and that it isn't really getting counted as a true link, but i wanted to see if there were other thoughts or experience with this.

Is Back Link Building still Good Practice
Since all the updates from Google I'm unsure as to whether I should be pursuing good quality back links and how many per month?for my website www.polesandblinds.com . We don't have a very large back link profile and its at least half of some of our competitors, we are currently active on blogging and the 4 main social sites. Many Thanks I look forward to your suggestions/advice/criticism.

Internal Links and Page Authority - Best Practices
Hello, Is it bad (in terms of ranking in the SERPS) if i have a link from a page with PA of 18 going to a page with PA of 21? In other words, does it matter if the page containing the link has a lower page authority than the page receiving the link? Page A links to Page B Page A page authority is 18 Page B page authority 21 could this negatively affect my rankings? Thanks

Question about forwarding domains and link juice
We currently have a domain that has a small amount of inbound links: http://www.opensiteexplorer.org/www.1800wecoach.com/a!links We decided to switch over to a different domain name, which currently has 0 inbound links. What we were wondering is which would be better: link to the new domain from the old domain in a prominent location on all pages. or forward the old domain to the new domain? does forwarding a domain pass linkjuice?
