Why do seomoz rankings not match mine in google for the same keyword?
-
SEO moz lists my site http://holmesbailbonding.com as listing 2nd for raleigh bail bonds but when I search I am getting different results even with a cleared cache. Just wondering what factors contribute to this and what I need to be doing more of to get my site to rank for Raleigh Bail Bonds in raleigh, nc.
Thanks,
-
Hi Brandon,
When I search, I also see your site ranking in the #2 position. Here's a screenshot -

No two people hardly ever see the same search results due to Google's effect of both localization and personalization, but there are some ways to mitigate these factors.
1. Add pws=0 to the end of your search query URL. This "depersonalizes" the search results. So your final URL will look something like this:
https://www.google.com/search?q=raleigh+bail+bonds&pws=0
(notice the pws at the end?)
2. To minimize the effect of localization, set your location to as wide as possible. For the US, hit "change location" and type United States into the box, like this:

Best of Luck!

Mine always seem to match. But I depersonalize the URL. &pws=0
I use firefox AND I'm logged into my Google Account. I have always received great results from SEO moz. The only time I see messed up results is when there Google triggers local results for words like Laywer, Mechanic, City + keyword. In my neck of the woods, just the KW bail bonds triggers a local search. SEOmoz cannot track local results, only organic SERPS

I have unpersonalized Google searches in Firefox, as well as my data cleared out all the time, but I always end up with personalized searches. I just feel more confident using something that is "untainted."

Interesting Ressler. I'll use the AdWords Ad preview and diagnosis tool to check rankings. Does that approach not provide "clean" results?
-
I use a separate browser to search my rankings. I kept getting biased results from the three browsers I use (Chrome, IE, Firefox), so I downloaded Opera for the sole purpose of checking ranking. I never click anything with it, and always clear my data from it. It's been pretty accurate over the last 8 months.

Hi,
I am no expert at all of this, but I do know that for our online retail store at www.soccerstop.com we rank very different from different locations performing the search on any specific keyword. In other words, if I perform a rank analysis on a keyword such as "Soccer Gear" using one of our ranking software tools from an IP address that is close in proximately to one of our retail stores in Denver, Colorado I will get a result from Google such as "3". Then if I perform the same analysis from an IP address that is located in New York, our ranking would come up much different, somewhere around "12". So what I am suggesting is that location can be a factor in differences in rankings. May not apply to your situation but it certainly does for us.
Thanks
James

Is it still true that when your video is shown in a Google Video Carousel your page is not shown in the normal SERPS?
Hello everybody, I'm trying to decide whether it's worth it to invest time in optimizing my video's to appear in the video carousels on Google. I read that once your video is in the carousel, your normal snippet in the SERPS is removed. Is this still the case? Thank you for helping out!

How can we boost our rankings in a London-based Google search?
Hi all, I work for enterprise app development & mobile consultancy, Mubaloo. We tend to rank fairly well on Google for our targeted keywords in the Bristol area but not as well in London. Obviously there is more competition in London but that aside, we still don't rank brilliantly. We use our London address as our main address on our website, same for our London telephone number. Both of our offices are submitted to Google Maps and we include blog content with London and Bristol in the headers. Our main HQ is in Bristol but the London office is growing. What are the ways we can improve our rankings from a London-based Google search? Thank you in advance!

Shared location and phone number in Google Places...what now?
Interesting conundrum I've run into with a legal site we've recently started working on. The client didn't initially tell us that their law office shares an address and a phone number with another firm. It didn't take long for us to find this out, but interestingly, it didn't seem to be negatively impacting their rankings...at first. Then as we got into June we simply fell out of the map listings. We occasionally resurface back to a 1-3 position and then disappear again. My presumption is that Google is having trouble deciding if either of our separate listings are legitimate as there are a lot of citations for each and the on site and off site SEO/link factors are fairly similar (with our site having a bit better link profile). So my thought is get a unique phone number (if I can make the client agree) and add a unique suite number and try to reclaim/edit every existing citation we can get our hands on. Anyone else run into a similar problem and beat it?

Google + local Multiple Locations
My client has three offices and I have created three separate Google + local listings for them - I have listed the specific locations page as the website address for each - Google specifies to add the coding to the homepage to link Google + however what do we do with the three different codes - does each one go on the home page or at the bottom of the specific landing page for that particular office?

How likely it is to rank both locally and organically
I think the question summarizes it pretty well. Did anybody experienced this, to rank for one or multiple keywords in both local and organic search results?

Google Places - Local Search - Not ranking when 100% complete?
Hi I have followed the examples set by David Mihm and fully completed a Google Places listing - with the geographical area covering the area that it serves along with lots of local citations but when searching on google for 'accountants swansea' it is way down on page 4 of the places results. Does it take time for Google to recognise these changes to Places listings or is my listing incorrect to attract a high listing for the search phrase. Looking at the competition many of them have not optimised or done anything with their listings pages so I am at a loss to explain why the listing is doing so badly. The places listing is at http://maps.google.co.uk/maps/place?hl=en&prmd=imvns&biw=1280&bih=829&um=1&ie=UTF-8&q=accountants+swansea&fb=1&gl=uk&hq=accountants&hnear=0x486e45555a4e97b1:0x3d77128e2fe7cb74,Swansea,+Neath+Port+Talbot&cid=9815784575213492240&ei=UN6WTt7UJ8rasga-ocTrAw&sa=X&oi=local_result&ct=placepage-link&resnum=7&ved=0CFcQ4gkwBjge

Getting indexed into Google video search
I have a website that has videos hosted from youtube.com embedded onto it. I created and uploaded the videos to youtube and want them on my website. My question is which would be a better option, hosting the video on my website or embed them from youtube? I currently have them embedded onto youtube but when I do a Google video search I cannot find my company's website anywhere. My videos are shown on the results but they are linked to youtube and not my website. Is there a way to get the search results to show listing of the videos posted on my website?

Name Change in Google Places
In the middle of a nightmare in Google Places. Dealing with a number of Chiropractic franchises. They all had previous practices (and Places listings). In many cases, a duplicate listing was created. Some locations are "under review", others have lost their ranking and a few are ranking for both location in the 7 pack.(usually because they had a different phone number used so I assume Google sees it as a separate company despite the same location) I am trying to fix all these duplicate or near duplicate listings that were created previously. In one case I edited the existing listing and tried to verify by phone. I got the 5 digit code but Google then said code is not valid. Has anyone been through a similar situation? Should I delete/deactivate old listing and Then optimize the remaining or vice versa? A complete mess. In some cases they may have four listings...old company, new franchise and new name, Doctors names. Any insight appreciated.
