Keyword rankings improve but traffic doesn't
-
I am working on a couple of SEO projects and have noticed over the past couple of months that the keywords rankings have improved immensely with most of them amongst top 10 on google, but still the traffic on the website doesn't improve much.
Can somebody explain me the possible reasons behind this, and what can I do to attract more traffic?

Doug Roberts: Thanks for the help. I will definitely try and explore how the search results appear in search engines. I think optimizing the description further may help. Having a look at other results will help too I am sure.
Alan Mosley: Thanks for your comments. I cannot share the URL of the website as my client may not like it, but I will definitely absorb your comments and work on them.

I really agree with you here. I'v seen a big increase in number of people that clicks on ads.
Try [exact match] KW with relevant landing page and appealing adtext.

It's disappointing when this happens and it's frustrating that rankings don't automatically equate to more traffic.
How much traffic are you expecting? Remember that on average the amount of traffic you should expect falls off pretty drastically with only a small percentage going to sites below the top three. A small percentage of "not a lot" isn't going to be much!
Is your SERP snippet performing. Take a look at how your site's entry is being displayed in the serach results. IS the TITLE and DESCRIPTION providing the searcher with a compelling reason to click on it. Does it suggest that they are likely to find what they are looking for by clicking on the link? A well written snippet can outperform higher ranking sites.
Take a look at the other results around yours. With an objective view, can you which result would you click on? Taking an external perspective can be hard when you know what lies behind the link.
Also keep an eye on any paid links being displayed on your search results (something I miss as I tend to use ad blocking software). Are they drawing a large portion of the traffic away from the organic results? Are they adding weight to sites ranking in the organic searches?
Take a view of the whole landscape and see how your ranking site sits within it, but first I would advise you to think about how much traffic you can reasonably expect.
Hope this helps.

For that KW if there are many Ads by Google than the traffic will split immensely between organic results and paid results. I think your KW are very competitive and i would advise you to start investing some money in PPC too for increasing your traffic.

In could be your serp looks spammy
It could be that your first page rankings are for low value keywords
I would need the url and your keywords to know more

Site address change: new site isn't showing up in Google, old site is gone.
We just transitioned mccacompanies.com to confluentstrategies.com. The problem is that when I search for the old name, the old website doesn't come up anymore to redirect people to the new site. On the local card, Google has even taken off the website altogether. (I'm currently still trying to gain access to manage the business listing) When I search for confluent strategies, the website doesn't come up at all. But if I use the site: operator, it is in the index. Basically, my client has effectively disappeared off the face of the Google. (In doing other name changes, this has never happened to me before) What can I do?

Blog page won't get indexed
Hi Guys, I'm currently asked to work on a website. I noticed that the blog posts won't get indexed in Google. www.domain.com/blog does get indexed but the blogposts itself won't. They have been online for over 2 months now. I found this in the robots.txt file: Allow: / Disallow: /kitchenhandle/ Disallow: /blog/comments/ Disallow: /blog/author/ Disallow: /blog/homepage/feed/ I'm guessing that the last line causes this issue. Does anyone have an idea if this is the case and why they would include this in the robots.txt? Cheers!

My rank suddenly drop
Hi before i subscribe for MOZ i have hired a seo expert to do an optimization for my escort website, it was really hard since im not knowledgeable and have no clue about it also my niche is kinda hard as what everyone says. The SEO did a good job ranking my site but in less than 2 weeks my ranking goes down and every time it happen what i do is call him and tell him about the situation and in just few days my rank goes up again and im in page 1 of google. My question is, is that normal? like ranking drop in less than 2 weeks and he could easily rank me up in just few days? I pay just to make sure that im on page 1, so every time he put my site on page 1 i pay for it. Gawd i still have no clue whats going on, i have a lot to learn, black hat, white hat, proper back linking, etc etc so i'd really love to know if its normal cause if it is then no point for me to learn SEO as he is doing job well done. I was just afraid that he is doing this to rip me, not that i dont trust him but you know this days everyone needs something for a living 🙂

Ranking not improving
Our site is now 3 months old (although the domain is older) but rankings don't seem to be improving at all. We've got some good quality relevant links coming into the site, and the content is unique and often updated. Is there something holding the site back? Am I being impatient? the site is www.help-my-mobility.org Thanks.

'External nofollow' in a robots meta tag? (advertorial links)
I believe this has never worked? It'd be an easy way of preventing any penalties from Google's recent crackdown on paid links via advertorials. When it's not possible to nofollow each external link individually, what are people doing? Nofollowing and/or noindexing the whole page?

Keyword cooccurence
Is there any truth to keyword cooccurence being a ranking factor in google or any other search engines. Meaning that they not only look at the words you are targeting but the other words on the page to see if those words have a close relationship to the main theme ( the words being supposedly targeted) I heard that keyword coocurrence does not scale well over the billions of pages that are on the internet however, some waterdowned approached of keyword cooccurence is possible. what do you guys think?

SEOMOZ Ranking
Im pretty new to all this so hopefuly im going the right way ive been using SEOMOZ Pro for about 3 weeks. I have a website and a blog, I noticed that my website (flash based) was not doing very well but my blog was doing well. So i decided to turn my blog into a website for my main website and my old website into another category for my services. So I have now transferred everything over to my blog and on website grader I have got my rating upto 74/100 from 17/100 which is higher than anyone else in my keyword, my traffic ranking is higher but Im not even in the top 50 in google, they do have more backlins than me significanlty more but I am working on it. So the question is it the backlinks that help MOZ ranking, and how long does it take before google recognises my links to give me a position on google. My keywords are coventry wedding photographer and my site is rnblog.co.uk
