Facebook question
-
On the left side of our Facebook page, we constantly see a number like this - 5 talking about this ( just below the likes ).
Please have a look at http://www.facebook.com/pages/UltraSEO/194716037239795
What does "5 talking about this" mean ?
-
If a person with 2 different facebook accounts likes the page, would that count as "one talking about this"
-
Here's a good in-depth post about this from a day or two ago.
http://www.insidefacebook.com/2012/01/10/people-talking-about-this-defined/
-
Agree, also only unique peoples counts. So if same user share 2 posts only 1 will count, but if 2 other different peoples comment on these shares, it will be 3 "talk about" peoples
-
I am not sure; yet i don't think it will count if you are using same account to like your own post. The thing is I guess this has been created to measure how many other people find your post desirable, interesting, or perhaps controversial. hope this helps.
-
If i like or share my own post, will that count too
-
Talking About This is the number of people who have created a story from your post. Stories include:
- Sharing, liking, or commenting on your post
- Answering a question
- Responding to an event

Hope this helps.

Facebook ignores multiple slashes for business listing - true duplicate page issue?
Hi everyone, I am doing an external link audit for a site that contains a large number of public business profiles in it. As a part of each profile, there can be a website listed for the business, as well as a FB page and twitter etc. Pretty standard. There are thousands of business profiles on the site and I noticed that in a small group of links to FB profiles there seem to be typos. These are not the actual businesses that I found, but I have taken common public profiles and modified to show what I am seeing to give examples. https://www.facebook.com//nissanusa/ https://www.facebook.com//pizzahutus/ https://www.facebook.com//WhiteHouse/ https://www.facebook.com//TrekBicycle/ Notice the double slash. You can put as many slashes as you want and it makes no difference, e.g. https://www.facebook.com///////////////////////////////////////////////////////////TrekBicycle/ FB shows a 200 for all of pages when it should show a 404. There is no 301 to the correct URL. Facebook also does not canonical these other pages to the one slash URL. You could call this a potential duplicate content issue due to typos. These types of pages would be important for brand related searches for a business. Google may be smart enough to ignore them, or maybe the typo does not happen often enough that it does not really matter. I am just surprised that FB does not 404 or 301 these pages. When I checked my personal FB page URL and some of my friends, this does not happen. FB shows a 404 if you add extra slashes to personal pages. So, the duplicate issue seems to only be with business type FB pages. Curious about what the group thinks or if they have seen similar situations like this one. Thanks!

Content Marketing - what to post on their facebook page
Hello, I'm doing content marketing for an article that is helpful in our industry. When I'm building a relationship with a website, on Facebook I first like their page. Then, I'm liking and sharing a couple of recent posts that stand out and are related to our site. Should I read their recent blog posts and comment on their facebook page thanking them that what I read was helpful while posting a link to their blog post? Or should I post something else on their facebook page? Or should I not post on someone else's facebook page? Thanks.

When I add an image to a Facebook post (for a FanPage) does it need to be something I own or have credited, or can I use whatever images I like? Is this something that is at all monitored? Thanks!

Let's talk about Facebook Comments!
Have you seen Jen's post on the SEO Blog today about Facebook? I am really interested in testing out Facebook comments. Are any of you guys using them? Here are my thoughts: Benefits: Will make it easy for people to comment (assuming they have a facebook account) Their comments are shared on their wall and on their friends' news feeds so you could potentially get a LOT of exposure and traffic. Potential Drawbacks: Who controls the content? If facebook decides to pull this feature will we lose all of our comments? What is the moderation like? Do I get to approve which comments are posted? Some people may be reluctant to comment if they know that their friends are going to see what they wrote. What do you guys think? Are you going to use FB comments?
