Sitelinks

Is there any method by which Google can display Sitelinks ?
Is it so that Google shows the pages with the most backlinks for the Sitelinks ?
or sitelinks are shown only for the number one listing ?

Thanks Heather Robinson for the link.

Google offer some advice on sitelinks here: http://support.google.com/webmasters/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=47334
It all works on the algorithms and depends on the search term being used.
Hope that helps

Hide sitelinks from Google search results
Does anyone have any recommendations on how you can tell Google (hopefully via a URL) not to index that page of a website? I have tried through SEO Yoast to hide certain sitemaps (which has worked to a degree) but certain functionalities of Wordpress websites show links without them actually being part of a "sitemap" so those links are harder to hide. I'm having an issue with one of my websites - the sitelinks that Google is suggesting are nowhere near the most popular pages and I know that you can't make recommendations through Google not to show certain pages through Search Console. anymore. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated! Thanks!

eu.mybrand.com
us.mybrand.com I have noticed for branded searches in Australia the SERP is showing the regional site (au.mybrand.com) as the first listing = great BUT the sitelinks below are showing for the USA site us.mybrand.com = incorrect Any ideas how to resolve by marking up the code or in Search Console? Despite proper hreflang and lang attribute implementation using xml sitemaps, I'm seeing sitelinks from different countries. Any help please?
When someone searches for our brand in US, instead of only US links, users are served with canadian or iranian sitelinks. Despite we have properly implemented xml sitemaps with hreflangs, even we have implemented lang attribute in the head section of source code for every country. I'd be thankful for any advice.

Wrong sitelinks (from the old homepage on the domain)
Hi there, I am quite a novice when it comes to SEO. So you'll have to forgive me if the questions has already been asked by someone before me. The question is about site links in google. Google does generate som sitelinks, but some of the are seemingly generated on the basis of the old homepage. All the sitelinks corresponds to menu items, but two of those items exist only in the homepage on the domain. The fact that the SERP entry is not exactly as we wanted it to be is not strange at alle. We have yet to write in a propper metadescription, and optimize for the right keywords. Because that, I gather from my research, has a great role to play for googles decisions about which lins to use as sitelinks. But I do not understand why google decides to use link names on a page that is no longer there as sitelinks on a new page without those link names. I would like to understand this before experimenting with keywords and metadescriptions. I will appreciate an explanation as well as any advice on the relation been keywords and metadescritions. Happy day, Plovsky First, some context: 1. We just changed the homepage on our domain, pointen the domain name to the IP the new webhost and the new website.

Sitelink demotion
I have applied a sitelink demotion in webmaster tools, though this same sitelink is still appearing under my Google listing. How long does it usually take to take effect? Or is there anything I can do about this? Also, is there a way in which I can select or channel Google to show the sitelinks I want?

Is there a way to EDIT the description that appears under my sitelinks?!
I know you can't add Sitelinks since Google does it automatically but is there a way to edit the description that appears on the sitelinks? It's not the same as the meta description I've written for my landing pages. The keyword where you can see the sitelinks is Digital Media Construction.

SERP - Sitelinks but not sitelinks and not clickable
We have a rather large site. On SERP, a page is seeing snippet with top navigation links captured. But they are not active links on SERP although on the live site they are. And there are 6 sitelinks showing up as well. Has anyone experienced this before? Thanks.

Google Webmaster Tools Sitelinks Demotions
Does anyone know if the sitelinks demotions tool actually works. I went in and demoted a bunch of pages on my site but the pages are still showing up as sitelinks in search results. I did this like 2 months ago so I am assuming that is plenty of time for it to take. Any help with this would be great. Thanks!
