Can you give me any reference article which may help me to understand more about it.

They weant to keep both even though they are duplicates? i would not do that.
but if they have to then i would use a canonical
-
Yeah, I know that: 301 redirect is best solution for me. But, client does not want to remove old website. They want to make it live as current one. Now, we are focusing more on our main domain & want to rank with new one.
-
The best is to 301 redirect, but a canonuical will transfer links to new one. so new page will rank better, old page will rank worse.
Why not 301 redirect.
A canopnical is like a 301 redirect but does not move the user to the new page.
-
So, It will not work for me. I want to rank for new one. I have done lot of link building on old one for good ranking.
Now, client does not want to promote old one & want to rank with new one. That's why I was thinking for cross domain canonical.
-
The credit given to the old pages will be redirected to the new pages, you will avoid any duplicate content issues, but the old pages will still exist but will low rankings

Thanks Alan,
So, What about ranking of Vista Patio Umbrellas domain. Will Google disappear that result from search result?
I am not sure but, have idea that, Google may replace Vista Patio Umbrellas result with Vista Stores...
Is it right?

Yes as far as google goes you can cross domain canonical, Bing Toolkit picks it up as a violation, but i have heard from somone on this group that they were told by a Bing employee that they have since changed the way the handle them, and now also allow cross domain canonicals
So the answer is yes.

Schema for Product Categories
We have an E commerce site and we have started to implement Schema's. I've looked around quite a bit but could not find any schema's for product categories. Would there be any schema's to add besides an image, description, & occasional PDF?

301 Externally Linked, But Non-Producing Pages, To Productive Pages Needing Links?
I'm working on a site that has some non-productive pages without much of an upside potential, but that are linked-to externally. The site also has some productive pages, light in external links, in a somewhat related topic. What do you think of 301ing the non-productive pages with links to the productive pages without links in order to give them more external link love? Would it make much of a difference? Thanks... URL structure for categories, sub categories and products
Hi, I'm looking for some advice about URL hierarchy and the best way to structure URLs for SEO with regards to categories, sub categories and product pages. The way the site is set up displays the URLs as such, example: 1. /badge-accessories/ 2. /badge-accessories/plastic-wallets/ 3. /badge-accessories/plastic-wallets/clear-flexible-wallets/ I am questioning whether it would be best to keep it like this (which the site developers are suggesting) or change to something like: 1. /badge-accessories/ 2. /plastic-wallets/ 3. /clear-plastic-flexible-wallets/ Or something like: 1. /badge-accessories/ 2. /plastic-wallets/ 3. /plastic-wallets/clear-flexible-wallets/ Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks

Should we NOINDEX NOFOLLOW canonical pages?
Hi, I was window shopping at Gemvara and noticed something interesting... They rank very high for long-tail phrases such as "rose gold engagement rings" and in their pagination pages for that category not only they filled canonical to the main category page (which is logic) but also they "NOINDEX NOFOLLOW" the pages... Is that recommended? Thanks

What potential pitfalls should I watch out for? Should they only link a certain amount of times to their site? Per article? Per everything?
Ratio of followed vs nofollowed links?
Should I not link to "hazardous" sites I don't want to associate myself with? How can I identify a site that will hurt my link profile?
What's the best way to make sure the guest bloggers aren't plagiarizing? Thanks!0 -
NOINDEX listing pages: Page 2, Page 3... etc?
Would it be beneficial to NOINDEX category listing pages except for the first page. For example on this site: http://flyawaysimulation.com/downloads/101/fsx-missions/ Has lots of pages such as Page 2, Page 3, Page 4... etc: http://www.google.com/search?q=site%3Aflyawaysimulation.com+fsx+missions Would there be any SEO benefit of NOINDEX on these pages? Of course, FOLLOW is default, so links would still be followed and juice applied. Your thoughts and suggestions are much appreciated.

Penalty for using expired domain?
I was wondering if anyone has any experience using dropped/expired domains with old "clean" backlinks for new sites. Is there be a penalty for doing this (with good intent)? Worth a reconsideration request?
