-
Hi i have found a website on my dedicated server that is not mine by using a number of tools including
http://www.yougetsignal.com/tools/web-sites-on-web-server/
the site that i found that was not mine is buycostumes.com
i contacted my hosting company and told them and this is the reply i got back
We have checked the issue and it appears there have a bug/glitch in this site, because after we checked the mentioned domain we found that this website respond on IP which is not our and is not assisgned in your Dedicated server as you may preview below:
Found 3 domains hosted on the same web server as buycostumes.com (66.45.3.44).
buycostumes.com (linkback)
target.com (linkback)
www.certifigroup.com (linkback)
Thus if you find any issues on your web server, please mention them in this ticket and we will be glad to provide you with further assistance on this matter.
Please feel free to contact us if you have any further technical difficulties.
Best regards,
Now they have not said if they are going to do anything about this and to be honest i am getting fed up with the hosting company because i am being told that the slow speed i was receiving for my website www.in2town.co.uk was down to it taking a long time to reach my server before reaching my site.
Now not sure if this is correct or not but with all the help i have received off semoz i have managed to increase the speed to my site but now i have found this problem.
Can anyone tell me if i am being played and also can anyone recommend a professional UK hosting company.
Also is this site affecting my spped and my site performance.
-
the hosting company is in the US, it is important for me to make the site load fast, the last thing i want to do is for the readers to get fed up of slowly loaded pages.
I have to get the site up to scratch so i can start making money from it which it is not doing at the moment.
google analaystics, says under site speed 0.00 so i am a bit confused by this
-
I think you're ok then, as far as other sites hosted on your server.
Do you know where you server is physically hosted? UK? US?
From a user perception point of view, your in2town.co.uk site seems ok to me speed wise. (not a scientific test!)
Out of interest what does Google Analytics and/or Google Webmaster Tools say about site speed?
In Google Analytics you can find this under: Content / Site Speed.
In Webmaster tools it's under: Labs / Site Performance.
There's lots of things that can affect the speed of you site including the performance of the server, the end-to-end network connection, the content, number and size of images on the page and any javascript etc. (social buttons can be a prime culprit for this!)
Someone on a mobile device with a poor signal is going to have a dramatically different performance to someone on a high-speed broadband connection.
As there are a things outside of your control that affect site speed, I don't think search engines can use it as an absolute measurement.
From a user experience point of view, you want to make sure the pages aren't loading so slowly people are giving up!

yes all of those are mine

If buycostumes.com was hosted on your server, it isn't' now and of course, none of the sites hosted on the server that buycostimes.com is on will be on the same server as yours.
It looks like the following domains are hosted on server 96.127.151.50:
- cardiffhypnotherapy.com
- clairehegarty.co.uk
- weightlosshypnotherapysuccess.com
- headlineplus,com
- in2town.co.uk
- womenlifestylemagazine.com
- cheapflightsgatwick.com
- trancebandgastricband.co.uk
All these resolve to 96.127.151.50.
Are all these yours?
If any of these aren't yours, then ask your hosting company to check.

Hi can you explain more about the 26ms etc as i am not really familiar with this. are you saying that the server is slow and that my site is slow because the server is.
this is the tool i have been using to find out the speed of my site
http://tools.pingdom.com/fpt/#!/pgZ9jKqDR/http://in2town.co.uk/
on average it is saying about 4 seconds but i am not sure if this is really correct or not.
would like to know more about the server speed you are talking about. my hosting company is tmd hosting.
here is the reply i have just got from them
What my colleague is referring to is that there is a glitch in the website that you are seeing that the following domain:
is located on your server. We can confirm that this is not a true statement and this website (as well as the others) are not located on your dedicated server. You do not have to worry about any of that content being uploaded from someone else.
Please feel free to contact us regarding any further questions or comments.
Please note that we have traced the domain names in question and we receive the following information:
buycostumes.com. 86400 IN A 66.45.3.44
buycostumes.com. 90000 IN NS ns3.inflow.net.
buycostumes.com. 90000 IN NS ns4.inflow.net.
buycostumes.com. 90000 IN NS ns5.inflow.net.
buycostumes.com. 90000 IN NS ns6.inflow.net.
buycostumes.com. 90000 IN NS ns1.inflow.net.
buycostumes.com. 90000 IN NS ns2.inflow.net.target.com. 1800 IN A 161.225.130.163
target.com. 3600 IN NS ns4.target.com.
target.com. 3600 IN NS ns1-auth.sprintlink.net.
target.com. 3600 IN NS ns2-auth.sprintlink.net.
target.com. 3600 IN NS ns3-auth.sprintlink.net.
target.com. 3600 IN NS ns3.target.com.www.certifigroup.com. 3600 IN A 66.96.131.78
This means that those websites are not even pointed to your dedicated server. This means that there is an issue with the website that you are using:
as the information displayed in there, is not accurate. Please note that this website is not affiliated with our company and we cannot provide assistance for 3rd party websites and tools. In order to get the issue resolved, you should contact their development team and ask them for more information on this matter.
Thank you for your patience and understanding in advance.
Please feel free to contact us regarding any further questions or comments.

While it does look like buycostumes.com is now resolving to a different IP address, (66.45.3.44). It looks like some of the others you detected are sharing the same IP address as your own:
www.in2town.co.uk (96.127.151.50).
NSLOOKUP www.chesterhypnotherapy.com
NSLOOKUP www.cheapflightsgatwick.co.uk
NSLOOKUP www.clairehegarty.co.uk
All resolve to the same IP address (96.127.151.50)
It seems that buycostumes.com is on a different server, but the others aren't. I take it you're only hosting the one site on this dedicated server?
I can't say how these other sites might be affecting the performance of your site, but if you're paying for dedicated hosting then it doesn't appear that you're getting it.
Who's hosting this server and where are they hosting it? It seems slow from here (uk), and more network hops that I'd expect (16).
I'm getting 115ms when pinging your site. For a domain on my (shared) hosting I'm getting approx 20ms and for reference www.google.com gives me 26ms.
I've used 34sp.com for my hosting for a long time - their service/support has been fantastic. I've not used them for dedicated hosting so can't specifically recommend them for this. I don't know how competitive their prices are for dedicated hosting, but note that their starting price is for an unmanaged service. (They do offer a full server/management package though.)
Hope this helps.

New website on new url?
We have a new website on a new url (been up for around 2 years now) and our old website is slowly fading in the background, we are now at the point where the money is still ok but we are having issues running both side by side, we have a calculator on each page and are thinking about removing this and adding a box with please order from our new site here (with url of similar page). Now the issue is we don't want to link for SEO purposes and google hammer us (thinking of no - following these) and we also have a penalty we got in 2012 on the site but we did get out of this, would this cause any issue to the new site?

Huge uptick in 404s on new website
I just launched a new website, and I see that the 404s shot up hugely in Google Webmaster Tools right during the launch. We went from Drupal to WordPress, but I was wondering if anyone has any thoughts on whether these 404s represent a crisis, or potentially something harmless? There has been no noticeable SEO downtick in terms of keywords or queries during the same period... Thanks for any thoughts. Screenshot-2015-05-19-13.58.55.png

Duplicate Pages on GWT when redesigning website
Hi, we recently redesigned our online shop. We have done the 301 redirects for all product pages to the new URL (and went live about 1.5 week ago), but GWT indicated that the old product URL and the new product URL are 2 different pages with the same meta title tags (duplication) - when in fact, the old URL is 301 redirecting to the new URL when visited. I found this article on google forum: https://productforums.google.com/forum/#!topic/webmasters/CvCjeNOxOUw

It says we either just wait for Google to re-crawl, of use the fetch URL function for the OLD URLs. Question is, after i fetch the OLD URL to tell Google that it's being redirected, should i click the button 'submit to index' or not? (See screengrab - please note that it was the OLD URL that was being fetched, not the NEW URL). I mean, if i click this button, is it telling Google that: a. 'This old URL has been redirected, therefore please index the new URL'? or
b. 'Please keep this old URL in your index'? What's your view on this? Thanks1 -
Subdomain hosted on a different server VS Subfolder on main server
We have a website developed in ColdFusion on a server does not support PHP. We have a blog for the site using WordPress (PHP), hosted on a different server, with a subdomain as the URL. (example: blog.website.com) I've heard that search engines treat subdomains as completely different websites from the main domain, so they could actually be in competition for rankings in the search engines - is that correct? I am under the impression that the traffic to the blog will not show as traffic to the main website, because it is hosted on a different server - is that right? If I am correct, I assume the best solution would be to install PHP on our main server, and put the blog in a subfolder ... or would the subdomain be OK as long as the blog is hosted on the main server? Thanks!

New Website and Domain Question
Hi all, I am launching a new website around the end of October and I have purchased a great domain to use for it. My question is should I put some kind of holding page up to try and start building up some domain authority in preperation for launch? Or maybe a blog at www.domain.com/blog and then keep all the blog content at the same location when the full site goes up? Or is it best to wait and just launch the site when the first version is complete? Thanks, Ben
