Why PR does not grow?
-
Hi,
I have a question about one of my sites whose PR does not want to increase. It's more of a curiosity, actually. the site pokercasinomania.com has been online since 2007. I had developed a link building campaign dedicated to it, so I have many links directing toward it. I just don't understand why the PR is stil 1. Also, at one point the PR had raised to 2, but it went back to 1 after less than a week. Can someone explain why this happened?
Thank you very much.

First, I wouldn't even look at Google PageRank. Google isn't consistent with updates, and it isn't a good measurement tool. Focus on SEOmoz's Page Authority and Domain Authority. This will give you much more insights to what is going on.
And with looking at metrics on www.opensiteexplorer.org, you only have 302 links coming in and a Page Authority of 48 (out of 100) and Domain Authority of 39. Looks like your overall domain doesn't have a very good Linkscape which is why you have low PA and DA, and maybe why your Google PageRank is still low.
Your Domain MozTrust and MozRank are very low as well. Looks like you should investigate the quality and types of links you have coming in, and focus on building quality relative links.

There are too many factors that influence pagerank and its hard to tell from just looking at your site without digging into it. Most commonly though your pagerank will not increase if your backlinks are coming from same PR site or lower PR sites. It also depends on whether your backlinks are follow or nofollow, you want follow links to increase PR.
Another factor that can be draining your PR faster than your backlinks are aiding it is follow/nofollow on your outgoing links. If you've got many or all outgoing links on follow then you're passing your PR out to those sites.
All of that being said, I wouldn't focus on PR so much. Many people think PR directly relates to how well your site does in terms of traffic but this simply isn't true.

SEO for an exponentially growing site?
Hey Mozers! I was having a quick chat with a friend the other day on doing SEO for a site that grows in page size at an exponential rate and was just wondering how you would go about optimizing it? The example that we used would be a site that allowed users to upload videos and then have people vote on two videos against each other. So, if there are 100 uploaded videos and each of them are pared up with the other 99 to create a unique voting/battle page which has it's own unique URL, the site can get very large, VERY quickly. Meaning if just one more video is uploaded there would be How exactly would you go about optimizing the site? My biggest area of confusion would be generating sitemaps. I'm aware of best practices with large sitemaps (i.e. having a sitemap of sitemaps, not going over 50k in entries per sitemap etc..) But, how would you go about creating the sitemaps for this website if it's growing at an exponential rate, if at all? If you have any other questions feel free to ask and I'll clarify it. Thanks! 😃 **TL;DR How would you optimize a site that grows at an exponential rate? **

PR dropped from 3 to 0\. Why?
Hi, I have an important question and I hope you'll be able to help me find the answer. My site http://www.pokeronlineitalia.com had a PR of 3 (three). Then, I had it restructured to make it look more appealing in order to increase the conversion rate. The problem is that after it was redesigned, the PR dropped all of a sudden from 3 to 0. This is really bad, as it took me over three years to reach that point. Could you please analyze the site and find out what happened? I used SEOMOZ's research tools to try to understand and noticed the following message" "Accessible to Engines Easy fix Crawl status Status Code: 200 meta-robots: noindex, follow meta-refresh: None X-Robots: None Explanation Pages that can't be crawled or indexed have no opportunity to rank in the results. Before tweaking keyword targeting or leveraging other optimization techniques, it's essential to make sure this page is accessible. Recommendation Ensure the URL returns the HTTP code 200 and is not blocked with robots.txt, meta robots or x-robots protocol (and does not meta refresh to another URL)". Basically, the message said that the search engines cannot access the homepage (http://www.pokeronlineitalia.com). May this be the reason why the PR dropped? What do I have to do to solve this problem? Is there a chance I can reach a PR of 3 again? Thank you very much for your help. It'd be great if you could help my site regain its SEO strength.

What causes internal pages to have a page rank of 0 if the home page is PR 5?
The home page PageRank is 5 but every single internal page is PR 0. Things I know I need to address each page has 300 links (Menu problem). Each article has 2-3 duplicates caused from the CMS working on this now. Has anyone else had this problem before? What things should I look out for to fix this issue. All internal linking is follow there is no page rank sculpting happening on the pages.
