Problem With Video Sitemap Becuase All Videos Are in he Same URL
-
Hi,
I created a video sitemap and now I'm getting an error on webmaster tools because the location for some of the videos is the same.
It says:
Duplicate URL - This URL is a duplicate of another URL in the sitemap. Please remove it and resubmit.
What can I do if all my videos are located in the same URL??
Thanks

Hey Juan,
I'm afraid there's no easy solution to this one. Google only allows you to submit one video per URL in the sitemap, which makes it tricky for anyone who has a dedicated video page on their site.
Think of it as like traditional keyword targeting - you can't try and target the hundreds of keywords with the same page content and simply having an index of videos shouldn't be able to change this.
My suggestion would be to create new pages for each of your videos - targeting all on-page elements to the relevant keywords for the videos while providing some supporting text and images. Use these pages to define the URL element in your video sitemap and then just submit the indexed page with a single video element. You should then be able to get video results for all the relevant terms, albeit not to a single page.
If you really need users to land on your video index page, then you could think about adding rel=canonical to all the individual pages, but i'm not sure how this would play out regarding video results. Perhaps better would be just to ensure they can access the video index page from the landing pages using good internal linking.

Is there a way you can separate the videos onto unique pages with some text (e.g. transcript) accompanying each vid?
This way you may be able to also keep the one featuring them all.

Sitemap Rules
Hello there, I have some questions pertaining to sitemaps that I would appreciate some guidance on. 1. Can an XML sitemap contain URLs that are blocked by robots.txt? Logically, it makes sense to me to not include pages blocked by robots.txt but would like some clarity on the matter i.e. will having pages blocked by robots.txt in a sitemap, negatively impact the benefit of a sitemap? 2. Can a XML sitemap include URLs from multiple subdomains? For example: http://www.example.com/www-sitemap.xml would include the home page URL of two other subdomains i.e. http://blog.example.com/ & http://blog2.example.com/ Thanks

And the other interesting thing is in the image . http://prntscr.com/3q7zp6 He has a level 1 page that has a huge content in it.
But he links every topic of the content with another link which is anchor text link I mean this (http://site.com/level2page.html#part1).
How Google treats this ?
Is there anything wrong with it ? I mean amount of it .

Duplicate pages, overly dynamic URL’s and long URL’s in Magento
Hi there, I’ve just completed the first crawl of my Magento site and SEOMOZ has picked up 1,000’s of duplicate pages, overly dynamic URL’s and long URL’s due to the sort function which appends URL’s with variables when sorting products (e.g. www.example.com?dir=asc&order=duration). I’m not particularly concerned that this will affect our rankings as Google has stated that they are familiar with the structure of popular CMS’s and Magento is pretty popular. However it completely dominates my crawl diagnostics so I can’t see if there are any real underlying issues. Does anyone know a way of preventing this? Cheers,

Keywords in Vanity URL
If I set up a vanity URL that just 301's to the main site, do the search engines look at the keywords in the vanity URL when determing how to rank the site. For example, if I set up a vanity URL of www.coolnewtechgear.com, and redirect it to www.company.com/products/, would the search engines view the keywords of cool, new, tech, and gear and associate that with the page it's getting redirected to? Or does it ignore the vanity URL and only look at the content of the page itself?

URL Rewrite
We are trying to convince a client to do a massive rewrite from all URL's looking like this: "www.company.com/category/categoryId=82374" to something like "www.company.com/womens/jackets/rain" How would you describe the importance and impact of doing URL rewrites to an ecommerce site? What evidence/research can we share with them to convince them it is worth the time and effort to do?
