Choosing Domain Name
-
I am trying to choose between two domains:-
Lets call them
While 1 is shorter than 2, people don't search for 'Example Deals' but they do search for 'Example Discounts' is quite large numbers, therefore 2 containts all the keywords.
How much does including the keywords which you are targetting in the domain affect ranking these day?
-
In my view it still has a large influence (although Google has stated this is diminishing).
Short term strategy - go for the second domain.
Long term strategy - go for the first. You'll create a better/more memorable 'brand name' and eventually Google's algorithm changes will reduce the importance of keywords in the domain name. You'll be able to get good SEO results, it will just take a little longer.

I asked here about the domain name.->they advice me to take the option 2, like "buy online cigarettes" but I choose this what was sounding better. sorry for my bad english.

I agree with Samuel. I also see this kind of results. But the negative is that you cant make branding for your website, Depends what you want to do with her. If is just affiliate take the second option. If is something more serious then take the first and work harder. Example me I am building a site about cigarettes. I manage the project from beginning until end. Web design, seo etc... I asked here about the domain name. maybe the keyword "buy online cigarettes" is much more targeted to my clients wish, and I guess is converting much more like just cigarettes, but in the end I purchase a domain with the name just cigarettes,Even if I have to work harder to rank it for that term. I guess sounds better just "cigarettes", like "buy online cigarettes". Me personally I choose the names what sounds better like the names which are more easy to rank in Google. This is my opinion, now is up to you ...

I spent 6 months getting top 10 rankings for a site without the keywords in the domain. I've just recently built a site with the exact match keyword in the domain and am stunned to see the site in the top 10 after 2 months and minimal link building in a highly competitive industry. I personally believe that the domain name has played a part in this. My advice is wherever possible include your main keywords in the domain.

Multiple links from same domain (different pages) considered in credibility of backlinks?
Hi, Let's say there are multiple backlinks from different pages of same domain to different pages of other domain like below: Website A: Page 1 -----------> Website B: Page 1 Website A: Page 2 -----------> Website B: Page 2 Do the pages of Website B pages will get backlinks authority equally or they don't get much backlinks impact as they have multiple backlinks from same domain? There were old school stories that Google ignores second link from same domain.....etc... So, please suggest on this. Thank you. Note: The question is NOT about content relevancy or domain authority score of the backlinks.

Do sub-domain visits do not count for website?
It's a common understanding that Google treats sub-domains as different websites. Does that mean visits of sub-domain do not impact website in-terms of ranking or visibility or reputation at Google?

Using the canonical tag across multiple domains...
Hi guys I am looking for some help in regards to using canonical tags in other domains that have similar content to our main site. Would this be the right way to go about it? For example www.main.com is the website i would like to achieve best ranking with, but i also have other websites, www.secondary.com and www.somethingelse.com which have similar content and all link back to www.main.com So in order to make sure the google bot knows these other pages are a reference to the main.com page can i put a canonical tag in secondary.com that goes like this: rel="canonical" href="www.main.com" /> and put that same tag in somethingelse.com Would i achieve a better ranking for doing so on main.com or am i on the wrong track and will doing so not change a thing? I hope I'm making sense 😉 Best regards, Manny

With Google's Location Based Searches, Should I Include a City Name with My Keywords?
What I mean is when you search on Google it seems to pull information by your location so would it be helpful including the city name + keyword still for SEO or would it be just as helpful using just the keyword? For example, a client is in Alexandria, VA and has a computer repair shop so would "Alexandria computer repair" be as good or better than "computer repair"? Just a little curious. Thanks!

Why is my domain URL ranking instead of individual pages?
Hello, Google is ranking my homepage for many keywords instead of showing the various sites pages? Any idea why? Thanks, David

Domain Deindexed because of Redirect
I think this is an interesting topic to discuss though I'm looking for answers too. One of my well performing domain deindexed by Google today. Reason: Redirect from a 9 year old Deindexed domain (Must be penalysed) I believe this is done by one of my competitor. What you people suggest me to do now? Don't you think if this is the way Google treat the redirects after Penguin anybody can use this technique to harm their competitors?

Redirected old domain to new, how long before seeing the external links under the new domain?
Before contracting SEO services, my client decided to change his established root domain to one more customer-friendly. Since he had no expertise on board, no redirects were set up until 6 months later. I ran stats right before the old domain was redirected and have a report showing that he had roughly 750 external links from 300 root domains. We redirected the old domain to the new domain in mid Jan 2012. Those external links are still not showing in Open Site Explorer for the new domain. I've tested it a dozen times, and the old domain definitely points to the new domain. How long should it take before the new domain picks up those external links? Should I do anything else to help the process along?

SEO Test: Domain Hyphenation [Update]
In May I announced test results for domain hyphenation but after a 3 month followup the results have changed and the hyphenated domain now wins on what seems to be the first link instance advantage. I was unable to discover any other factors which may have influenced this test but if anyone has any ideas I would like to hear about it. Here are the details of the SEO test and revealed URLs.
