Free SEO tools appearing in SERPS for a site
-
Hi there,
I've just taken over a site and it doesn't have a huge amount of shelfspace on the SERPs for it's brand name. Looking at the results that are there are a lot of free SEO tools that are coming up. They haven't had an SEO before so it's not coming from their side.
There's such a lot of them I was wondering if anyone had come across this before - is it simply a competitor looking at the seo, could it be one of the seo analytics packages using free sites or is there anything else to be aware of.
I can start knocking the sites down the SERPs but just wondering if anyone has a good solution for this.
thanks
Shiv

This is a kind of hard one to figure out without any more hint of what things look like. If you're not able to share the URL in public Q&A (which I can certainly understand) and still want some advice, feel free to open a private Q&A question where you can share that type of information.

The mystery of a SERP - Your Opinion is appreciated :)
I'm looking into the result set for "vehicle graphics" with local setting set as Irvine, CA. The first result is occupied by Airmark Co and its page "http://www.airmarkco.com/vehicle-graphics.html". Doing a quick scan of this site and its page it seems that a few things are way off. Low DA: 12 Low PA: 19 Company is located out side of the local area (Irvine, ca) Offsite links coming into the site are few with only one external domain (from the company that built the site) I'm comparing it to a site we launched a few months back, one that has a similar profile and yet is nowhere to be found -- http://www.calibersi.com/page/vehicle-graphics. Would love to hear your thoughts as to why this site is outranking much stronger and relevant local sites (based on the SERP's that are coming back) ?

Why is my competitor's site ranking #1?
I'm about to work for a local business website that offers cleaning services and products. The keyword they want the most is ruled by a very odd site; My client's competitor's site has been around for 7 years. (Less than the average of it's competitors. Less than my client's) Has 1 backlink. Lower PA MR MT & DA than any other in the SERP. It's a 1 page site made with Flash. They do not have FB or Twitter accounts. So I thought maybe they were ranking so well because of their traffic. But neither my client, me or my coworkers have ever heard of this company. And yet, they are ranking #1. And the only thing I notice that might have helped is that the title of their page is the exact keyword and nothing more. Any ideas?

Will changing my domain name from a .co.uk to a .com affect my SEO?
Hi all, The .com for my domain name has become available (I am currently a .co.uk) so I am looking to move over my website to this but first would like double check if this would have any affect on my SEO at all? As a company we mainly target the middle east (Although based in the UK) but at the time of registering years ago the .com was not available. Do I have a 'history' logged with the current .co.uk domain or is my website solely dominated by the content? Also, if I do transfer what would be the easiest way of doing this just changing the DNS to a different location (will there be a duplicate content issue on both domain names?). Thanks in advance!!

Wondering why my site ranks well for one page and not another.
Customers mainly find our site from searching very specific part numbers on google. My site is launch3telecom.com. Take for example these two parts:

MT500A-81015 MR050-81045 Search only those parts in google - we rank 3rd for one of them and don't rank at all for another. Is there any way to check backlinks pointing to those pages? We even show up before big sites like ebay and such on one of them. Can anyone help me understand this?0 -
