Paid Blog Posts getting Deindexed?
-
Hello, We've used a popular paid blog posts platform to get back links through blog posts.
Recently, performed a link audit noticed a very interesting problem. 40% of the 49 sites we purchased paid posts from, have been de-indexed.
These blogs are the kinds that would take money from almost anybody in any given niche to write a review and give a paid link to you. So, I assume most of these blogs had a high number of outbound links.
Their page rank has also been demoted to 0 (obviously since they're deindexed).
Now, our dilemma is that should still go ahead with paid blog posts, after checking for the following:
1. PR
2. Google Penalty
The sites at the time of purchasing the posts were not penalized. But 40% of the sites being completely de-indexed is a staggering number.
Can someone please suggest whether to go with paid blog posts techniques or not?

In case you haven't seen, most private blog networks like Build My Rank are conceding defeat themselves: http://www.buildmyrank.com/news/its-been-a-great-run
There are several others that have since bit the dust, and I'm sure Google will keep deindexing anything along those lines.
If you're talking about posting to any kind of a network that's used on a mass scale, I wouldn't waste your money.

If you'd like to be able to give details, you can ask a private Q&A question. Those questions are not indexed, are viewable only by SEOmoz staff and associates, and all of us are under NDAs.

Hi,
Just from the Looks of the site you gave as an "example" it looks like a BMR type site...
These are going to be going down hard, as they in most cases serve no purpose other than as a link farm, shrouded in thin badly written content.
These types of schemes used to work very well, but with recent updates I would HIGHLY suggest staying away from this strategy you give of searching on PR and Penalty and expand your search to include other factors such as...
User Experience
Alexa Rank
Is the content currently on the site in question even good?
Does it allow social sharing easily and are there social shares?
Is its backlink portfolio just a bunch of links from Blog comments and other shady looking sites
There is quite a bit more to consider, but just as a suggestion, I would say look further into the quality, other than just how you think a search engine might perceive the site in question
Shane
PS just as a "Real World" scenario, One of My Niche's has LOTS of guys who do this, and they all (March 23rd) lost all rankings for Anchor Texts that employed this strategy, due to it WAS their only strategy...

They are low quality blogs/sites. And do not seem relevant to your industry!! Not surprised the links vanished.

How about asking for customers to write testimonials on their blogs? You can use email to create a b spot in the email to have a contest encouraging customers to submit their testimonials on their blog to be entered to win x.

Yes, we do hosts quite a few giveaways a month

Since this is a public forum, so would prefer not to. But, I'd say, these are sites like these:

Assuming you are in the eye glass business, why not find bloggers and give some product away to those bloggers for product review posts? I would stay away from any paid blog networks.

Do you want a link to a few of them and the company you employed?

Poor Blog and Website DA and links
Hi There We have a mature website and a mature blog with over 500 genuine blogs written on it over 4 years. In terms of actual "people" value it has to be high. We used to get 1000 visitors per day, we now get 300. We still have 850 subscribers so its of a certain size. However we have been hit by the Penguin/Panda updates and our DA has dropped to what everyone is telling us is too low for a site like this and we still have a google backlink problem, unyet we only have 190 external links that we think are all OK now. The problem we have is that we seem to have too many links from the blog to the main website with the same anchor text. This has occurred with a blogroll style link to the home page which appears on every post/page of the blog, also I think we have too many anchor same anchor text links to product pages (Motorola ES400) and category pages (Tablet PC). We're going through changing these now so that we have the right mix but the specific questions I wanted to ask were: 1. Will loads of links with the same anchor text affect us if the blog is counted as internal links. Its on the same "blog" sub-domain as the main website. 2. Will this affect the DA of both sites? 3. Is Wordpress capable of damaging us with all the extra pages it creates automatically. We've done nothing but genuine content posting here and i'm sure we can get it back but it kind of really demotivates you when 2/3rds of your traffic goes overnight. Many thanks for any help.

High Quality Guest Blog Swapping
I have tried checking out a few of the big guest blogging sites out there but every time I create a killer article the site that offers to publish it is normally some suspiciously spammy side with a low Moz score. Does anyone know any sites where guest bloggers can link up to swap high quality blog posts. Maybe one that requires some filtering of poor quality host blogs?

Networking sites / paid links
A national networking company charges its members, say, a few of hundred pounds to become part of their network, which involves offline networking events and online in forums and a directory. All the links of the directory and forum sigs etc are all do-follow. While it's not just a directory, how beneficial a link is this likely to be? The site itself has a DA of 60 and a PR rank of 4. 1k likes on their cnnected FB page and 21 likes on the G+. At the networking meetings they tell new recruits that being a member gives them a very valuable backlink and everytime they participate in the forums they get another do follow backlink. Ive checked and they are dofollow. Is this likely to be a great value link?

Should we get more IPs?
We have an IP with 2 of our major sites hosted on it. Because we own both, we exchange links obviously. The question is, won't Google see that we have these sites on the same IP and thus figure for themselves that they might be owned by the same owner. So the it is almost link reciprocal linking. The solution, host all sites on separate IPs?

My name is Benny, i am writing here from account of my uncle, because he is a pro member, and i am a student dont have money to pay premium package. Now, I have placed some ads/links on a strong domains, for about 8 months, i paid always, but about 6 weeks i was sick, on hospital, and i have forget to renew the links, and now are removed, and ranking down too. My question is, can i restore the links with same anchors on the same places again on the same sites, or what to do? it's this danger if a link was for a 6 weeks down, and now again to re-place, some of them are 3-4 weeks, and some 6 weeks, it's this danger to replace again or not?
