Crawl Diagnostics shows two title and meta tag errors but they are false positives.
-
I got one hit each on "Missing Meta Description Tag" and "Title Missing or Empty" but in the source of my page they are clearly there:
<title>Protein Powder | Compare and Get the Best Prices</title>
<meta name="keywords" content="protein powder, whey protein, protein supplement, whey protein isolate, hydrolyzed whey" />
I understand there are conventions which may or may not be followed by Drupal (I read an earlier question where ordering and W3C conventions were suggested) but i'm not sure how to fix them given Drupal will just overwrite any hand editing the next time something is built and importantly, I can't get the crawl to work on cue - it works on the automatic once a week crawl in the main campaign summary but every time I've specifically used the Crawl Test tool it gives me a "There was an error submitting your request to the crawler. Please try again later" so I can't really test any changes. Given Google seems to be recognising the title tag - ie showing it in the results - Do I put this down as seomoz just not working?
Kind Regards,
Brian

Which means you should have a read of this SEOMoz article about redirection.
In regards to your title... It all seems well and good, so it may be one of these other issues that are causing your problem
-
I just submitted a crawl request with SEOmoz. "Your crawl request was successfully submitted and RogerBot is ready to be released. We'll be sending your report via email in the next few days."
It seems like it is working without any issue. If you PM me your e-mail address, I can forward it to you upon receipt.
I did visit your site and immediately noticed it is duplicated. The www and non-www version of your URL both provide the same web page.
-
the domain is proteinpowder.com.au
-
Hello Josh, thank you, do you think that will help the seomoz crawl find the title? I'll get on with doing it, I was coming back here to reply that I found http://www.seomoz.org/q/does-my-overly-dynamic-website-hurt-my-seo and will try and make the urls better also.
-
You need to add a canonical reference to stop that:
-
The site has a Order By function (on date, rating etc) on the front and I see Google's webmaster tools is seeing different permutations of this as "duplicate titles" ie it's displaying 30 of these:
/?sort_by=field_rating_rating&sort_order=ASC&items_per_page=10&page=6&paging=23&sortby=rating
/?sort_by=field_rating_rating&sort_order=ASC&items_per_page=10&page=6&paging=24&sortby=rating
/?sort_by=field_rating_rating&sort_order=ASC&items_per_page=10&page=7&paging=14&sortby=rating
/?sort_by=field_rating_rating&sort_order=ASC&items_per_page=10&page=7&paging=23&sortby=rating -
If you are willing to share your URL, we can try the crawl test. Otherwise your only course of action would be e-mailing help@seomoz.org

Thanks Josh and Ryan,
Yes, don't know where my head was at at all there, I'll have to pretend I didn't ask that. I was mainly thinking about the title error. Maybe the fb related
<meta property="og:title" content="Protein Powder" /> is conflicting? Also, I can't use the Crawl Test to check that out unfortunately it keeps erroring. Bah I've never used Drupal before, thanks for the help.

A great free crawler you can use as an alternative is Link Sleuth. This is a very effective crawler but it is also old school (think DOS). Another great crawler is Screaming Frog. You can use these crawlers at times when you desire a second opinion, or have issues with, the SEOmoz crawler.
Joshua otherwise nails the answer to your meta description tag problem.
For issues with the SEOmoz crawler repeatedly stating to "Please try again later", you may wish to e-mail help@seomoz.org for some assistance.
Drupal will just overwrite any hand editing the next time something is built...
There should be an override system of some sort which allows you to maintain template changes after updates. I am not familiar enough with Drupal to comment further but any major CMS likely offers something to deal with this issue.

Ok first and formest: The Meta Description ≠ Meta Keywords.
You've pasted:
<meta name="keywords" content="protein powder, whey protein, protein supplement, whey protein isolate, hydrolyzed whey" />
Which is different from:
<meta name="description" content="Focusing on whey protein powder supplement that's the best in the business." />
Notice the bold bit in the above examples. The keywords element is good for validity but essentially unimportant. The description tag however is crucial to clickthroughs as it will entice the reader on a SERP to click on your link over the ones around it.
Secondly, when you're designing your Drupal template, you should certainly be able to re-arrange these elements. Have a play with page.tpl.php and drupal_set_head() - (I think) and see what you can do. That's not crucially important though. Also ensure that you don't have duplicate <title>tags, as this may be causing your issue with it reading a blank one and getting confused. Also ensure that they are inside the <head> tags. </span></span></p> <p><span>The <a title="SEOMoz Crawl Test" href="http://pro.seomoz.org/tools/crawl-test">SEOMoz Crawl Test</a> can probably also help you out because it gives reports on what it finds on each page!</span></p> <p>Have a play and let us know how you go!</p></title>

Moz crawling doesn't show all of my Backlinks
Hello, I'm trying to make an SEO backlinks report on my website When using the Link Explorer, I see only a few backlinks while I have much more backlinks on this website. Anyone has an idea about how to fix this issue. How can I check and correct this? My website is www.signsny.com.

Since July 1, we've had a HUGE jump in errors on our weekly crawl. We don't think anything has changed on our website. Has MOZ changed something that would account for a large leap in duplicate content and duplicate title errors?
Our error report went from 1,900 to 18,000 in one swoop, starting right around the first of July. The errors are duplicate content and duplicate title, as if it does not see our 301 redirects. Any insights?

Dup titles based on capitaization
I am getting a lot of duplicate title errors when the only difference reported in SEOMoz's detail download shows that the capitalization in URL's from 2 referrer's is slightly different. But there's really only one page. See the example list of dups below: Title: <colgroup><col width="511"></colgroup>

| College Classroom Maps | URL: <colgroup><col width="566"></colgroup>
| http://www.wall-maps.com/Classroom/College-maps.htm | Dup'S URL from another page: <colgroup><col width="566"></colgroup>
| http://www.wall-maps.com/Classroom/College-Maps.htm | So you see the M in maps is capitalized in the A tag on the second referring page. I would be pretty shocked to learn that Google would consider this a duplicate title, but I am always learning new things. I do have canonical set up on my home page because this site can be accessed by www.wall-maps.com and wall-maps.com. So I don't think it's a lack of a canonical. Could this be a bug in SEOMoz's crawler or is it because IIS is not case sensitive and maybe Apache is?? Thanks in advance to whom ever can shed some light on this. Ted0 -
No Crawl data in dashboard
For the second straight week, I have had no crawl data in my dashboard. It seems like the crawler erased all my results in the pro dashboard. Is there a way to manually recrawl my site, since I will have to wait another week to see if it comes back to earth? Thanks

SEOMOZ Crawl Test
Guys I really have an issue that i know have but cannot see if that makes sense. Basically 3 months ago i did a site wide 301 from economyleasinguk.co.uk to www.economy-car-leasing.co.uk Every thing looks good get all the correct header responses , all canonicals work perfectly , Google webmaster tools is updated fetch as google bot shows the old site is 301 I tried the seomoz crawl test today on the old domain and got this message Oh no! Looks like the page you were trying to access is temporarily down which at first thought ok because the site was not there it wont do it on an old 301 domain, however i tried it on a domain i know has just been 301'd and i got this message The URL http://www.site1.com/ redirects to http://site2.com/. Do you want to crawl http://site2.com/ instead?
Moz Pro | | kellymandingo
Would you like to:
Continue with www.site1.com
Continue with site2.com I really do not know what to do, its either the redirect script is missing something however its doing what it should or the server is a problem but again its doing what it should so why would SEOMOZ not be able to crawl the old URL like it example site above. Now the strange thing is Open Site Explorer does see the 301 and asks if i want to check the new URL instead Ps the redirect is done using PHP redirect which i am asking him to change to a htaccess as its now on a apache server and was wondering if this could be an issue, all pages go to correct pages as requested Thanks in Advance1 -

No data showing in SiteExplorer
For this site: www.cooperator.biz/ I see no backlinks in SEO Moz Open SiteExplorer but Majestic SEO is showing 13 unique domains linking to it. I regularly encounter zero data for sites that I know have backlinks, why is this? If it's a problem with crawling them, why would I continue to use SEO Moz when other SEO services are showing me links? Kind regards, Rich

Missing Meta Description tags?
I just ran our first SEOMoz pro report and it's showing that every article page on our site is missing descriptions. However, it's visible on the source and Google seems to be picking them up.

Can you please tell me why SEOMoz is makring them as missing? Are we doing something wrong here? http://notebooks.com0
