Its it fundamental nowadays renaming images for SEO?
Many photos are on top positions without being renamed like: mykeyword.jpg but can be 9876986.jpg instead.
Doesn't itcount much more the contest in which they are such as text around photos, descriptions and context from internal and external linking pages?
Renaming everyphoto, in every gallery can be considered over optimization?
Is there any study showing the impact the single factor of renaming a photo in a page?
Thanks

Hi Paolo
I think your best bet is to name the image file as accurately as you can, without intentionally trying to keyword stuff it. Name it something useful as if a person should get an idea of what the image is just by reading the name. And don't make it too long.
I'm not a complete image SEO expert - but here's some resources you should check out first;
Renaming every photo is not over-optimization if it makes it easier for the user. Like I said, just don't keyword stuff the name
Hope this helps!

there are other things google looks at in a photo beside the name im sure they have an originality check as well as they check the text around the image to see what the image is about but If you want to for sure get the image indexed make it original and rename it alt tag it and put some text about the image beside it

Do subfolders for grouping common services pages help SEO?
Hello, fellow MOZers. Here is the question: Is there any benefits/disadvantages of having pages, grouped by common type of service, to be put into subfolder with keyphrase-friendly phrase? Example: We have website https://www.hyperlinksmedia.com/ and several services under "SEO" niche, such as: SEO (page name seo-houston.php) Social Media Marketing (page name social-media-marketing-houston.php) Email Marketing (page name email-marketing-houston.php) So, is it better to have these pages in root directory like this: https://www.hyperlinksmedia.com**/seo-houston.php** https://www.hyperlinksmedia.com**/houston-social-media-marketing.php** https://www.hyperlinksmedia.com**/email-marketing-houston.php** OR is it better to group them in subfolder "houston-seo-services" for "extra" keyword and convenience reasons like this: https://www.hyperlinksmedia.com/houston-seo-services/seo-houston.php https://www.hyperlinksmedia.com/houston-seo-services/social-media-marketing-houston.php https://www.hyperlinksmedia.com/houston-seo-services/email-marketing-houston.php Any thoughts will be appreciated. Thanks!

Cross-linking for mobile SEO
Hi everyone! I am having a hard time finding information about weather to/how to apply internal seo linking to mobile versions of sites. We decided to go with dynamic serving with user agent detection. Our desktop site has a quite heavy seo-internal-cross-linking. As I understand, for mobile we should simplify and focus on usability, so get rid of unnecessary links. But I have a doubt about weather removing this part of the web structure can hurt our SEO. Do Google mobile bots look at and rank mobile versions of pages from scratch or do they use what they know about the site and the site's structure from its desktop version?

Images, using a lightbox would it go against adsense TOS?
Something I have been trying to figure out. On my website each member can have up to 10 images. When viewing a profile you can select each different photo and we currently use javascript to display this in a small box so the page does not re-load. I am curious for ideas, would we be better off having the images load on a different page? Giving more pages per visit in GA or would a lightbox type pop up be optimal. My concern is that the lightbox (similar to how Facebook displays images) would be a violation of google adsense TOS. I tried to talk with a help desk member from google regarding this but I am not even sure they could speak english to understand what I was saying. What do you guys think? When it comes to handling groups of images how would you best display them for user happiness and search engine optimisation?

Image carousel
I have a site with a large image carousel on the top of the homepage. it rotates about 5 images. Most of the images have copy on the left and the image on the right. Right now the designer has kept it one large image. If convert the copy to HTML and keep only the image on the right the actual image. This copy on the left will now get crawled? Is there any downside to this? I am thinking this is a better option than keeping it one large image.

Advanced tags in images
Is it true that one can improve image seo by adding metadata to the details (right click image and choose details), like tags and comments. I never heard of doing this before. It seems like grasping at straws.
