Hi,
Over the past few days, I have noticed that a few of my pages that were hit by the Google Penguin update come back from the dead and return to the #1 spot for the main keywords. I still don't see any change for secondary keywords I used to rank for, but hey at least there is something.

Has anybody else noticed this?

NOTE: I did not make any changes to my pages. I had never done any black-hat (just greyish) so I took the advice of many and just waited.

No, I have not seen this happen to any pages as of yet. I will however keep an eye out. Congratulations on your semi recovery, I am sure there are many out there who would like to be in your shoes right now!!

IP Address location v Server Location Penguin 4/Possum

Hi All, Our hosting provider have their IP address range in Melbourne but offers servers in Sydney or Melbourne.. If we were to take a server in Sydney and an IP address from their Melbourne range (only IP range offered) will the new localisation updates to the Penguin/Possum Algorithms serve less up to our clients in Sydney thinking we are located in Melbourne? Sorry if im confusing.. I know I am 🙂

Is This 301 redirection correct??

What is the best way to correct 403 access denied errors?

One of the domains I manage is seeing a growing number of 403 errors. For SEO purposes would it be ideal to just 301 redirect them? I am plenty familiar with 404 error issues, but not 403s.

When I type link:mydomainname.com in Google I don't see any result, why?

My other website is 4 years old and Page Rank 3. We are into business of design and development for 5 years and still we don't have any result from Google Searches. When I type link:mydomainname.com I don't get any result. What's the reason?

Large-Scale Penguin Cleanup - How to prioritize?

We are conducting a large-scale Penguin cleanup / link cleaning exercise across 50+ properties that have been on the market mostly all for 10+ years. There is a lot of link data to sift through and we are wondering how we should prioritize the effort. So far we have been collecting backlink data for all properties from AHref, GWT, SeoMajestic and OSE and consolidated the data using home-grown tools. As a next step we are obviously going through the link cleaning process. We are interested in getting feedback on how we are planning to prioritize the link removal work. Put in other words we want to vet if the community agrees with what we consider are the most harmful type of links for penguin. Priority 1: Clean up site-wide links with money-words; if possible keep a single-page link Priority 2: Clean up or rename all money keyword links for money keywords in the top 10 anchor link name distribution Priority 3: Clean up no-brand sitewide links; if possible keep a single-page link Priority 4: Clean up low-quality links (other niche or no link juice) Priority 5: Clean up multiple links from same IP C class Does this sound like a sound approach? Would you prioritize this list differently? Thank you for any feedback /T

What else rather than posts for linkbuilding?

Hello, My question is: we all know that blogs or great content is the way to good backlinks. But rather than this, what other ways are to build quality links to a website? I for example try researching competition backlinks (with opensiteexplorer), or find directories etc. Is this the right way? I also try to produce great content, but I would have liked more technical SEO tricks for this 🙂 And one more thing: how long links are needed before they impact rankings? Thanks if someone can help! Correct strategy for long-tail keywords?

Hi, We are selling log houses on our website. Every log house is listed as a "product", and this "product" consists of many separate parts, that are technically also products. For example a log house product consists of doors, windows, roof - and all these parts are technically also products, having their own content pages. The question is - Should we let google index these detail pages, or should we list them as noindex? These pages have no content, only the headline, which are great for long-tail SEO. We are probably the only manufacturer in the world who has a separate page for "log house wood beam 400x400mm". But otherwise these pages are empty. My question is - what should we do? Should we let google index them all (we have over 3600 of them) and maybe try to insert an automatic FAQ section to every one of them to put more content on the page? Or will 3600 low-content pages hurt our rankings? Otherwise we are ranking quite well. Thanks, Johan

Penguin: Recovery from Algorithm

Hi Mozzers, A quick question regarding Google Penguin recovery. A domain I have was hit by Penguin and we got a message in Webmaster Tools. We went to work fixing links we thought were most harmful, documented the evidence and did a reconsideration request. Google's reply was "No manual spam actions found". If reconsideration requests aren't the way to go then of course I will continue to build good natural links. But if I remove more links which I consider to be harmful will I ever know if the penalty is removed? Is there a point at which the algorithm would remove the penalty and inform me? Thanks!
