How do I increase domain authority? Real Estate SIte
-
I have a site that is just a few months old. How do I get the domain authority up?
-
Domain Authority is definitely going to matter here, but honestly not that much. Your strength is that you can work a lot more for your local area / niche and can have a lot more local links compared to the national sites. I would find out ways to get links from local businesses, non profits and other communities and organizations.
I would also suggest looking into doing some sorts of small events / meetups for potential clients to come and ask questions. You could also organize some activities / contests for kids.
I would also look at opportunities to work with specific real estate communities and sponsor some of their events with gifts. You could also setup a photo booth there for people to take pictures and then provide them a digital or paper copy of their picture towards the end of the day (Print them at a local Walgreens and have somebody pick them up or if it's cost effective to have a decent quality photo printer that can handle volume). The photo op could have your URL / Brand in the background in a creative way along with the year and name of the event.
Again, I think the intent is to think of this as a Brand Building Technique. Links, Mentions and Citations will come along with them.

I'm on all the basic social networking sites and I am actively marketing the site. I've made page 1 for both of my main keywords. Position 7 and 10. Trying to increase but I'm up against the national sites. Any tips on how to beat out the national sites on a local level?
-
I'm not familiar with the real estate niche, but all the local's will still apply: Yelp, Manta, CitySearch, BBB, etc.
You may want to edit this question to include Real Estate in the title: "How do I increase domain authority? (Real estate site)". I know there's at least a few mozzers who know this industry very well and that might bring them into this conversation.

Thanks, My site is a real estate website. Any tips on good sites to get links from? Who should i be focusing on?
-
Slowly and steadily build your links. Are you already on the top social networking sites ? If yes, then I would also suggest looking at something like Knowem.com to see if those fit your link profile. I would also look into vendors/clients/business partners and others who can link to you. Press Releases, mentions in local business directories, chamber of commerce and other local chapters.
I hope that ignites some ideas. Think of Domain Authority building as Brand Building and it would be a lot easier.

Why did Moz crawl our development site?
In our Moz Pro account we have one campaign set up to track our main domain. This week Moz threw up around 400 new crawl errors, 99% of which were meta noindex issues. What happened was that somehow Moz found the development/staging site and decided to crawl that. I have no idea how it was able to do this - the robots.txt is set to disallow all and there is password protection on the site. It looks like Moz ignored the robots.txt, but I still don't have any idea how it was able to do a crawl - it should have received a 401 Forbidden and not gone any further. How do I a) clean this up without going through and manually ignoring each issue, and b) stop this from happening again? Thanks!

What could cause your Domain Authority score to drop?
We have 3 websites that are on 3 different campaigns. Our flagship website is www.cannontrading.com. The Domain Authority score on it was 42. When I first (Mid November 2012) started, we had 295 keywords allocated for Cannontrading.com and 5 other keywords for allocated to our other websites... e-futures.com and e-mini.com. What I wanted to do was optimize the other two pages and I did this by taking taking 50 the keywords that were not ranked in the top 50 from Cannontrading.com and assigned them to the our other two sites. Could this have caused the drastic drop in the score? Our keyword rankings for the "Top 3" has dropped from 93 to 34 since November 2012. We did have a company that did article submissions for us up till October 2012. Could this have caused our drop in the Domain Authority Score and our Keyword Rankings? I didn't make any other changes to Cannon website beside taking away those keywords and given them to our other sites. Any suggestions or thoughts would really help me. Regards, David

Open Site Explorer Backlink Numbers Wrong?
So, I have a new site that we are currently building links for, lots of hard work. Anyway, I was a bit shocked when I viewed my site through Open Site Explorer and found only 4 backlinks!!!!! Alexa.com, Majestic, and Google Webmaster Tools don't show the exact same numbers, but their figures are all MUCH higher, 4 to 566 for example. What gives Site is www.powerequipmentplus.com for those who want to look themselves. Thanks for your time and concern.

Open Site Explorer Update
What is taking OSE so long to update? The update schedule said the next update was going to be on Dec 28th.

If you open OSE it says "Last Index Update: November 28th, 2011" Today in January 1st. Any thoughts as to why the delay?0 -

Trifecta Report (domain)
Recently i have found that the data in the trifecta report is becoming less complete. For the last few sites i found that the report returned about half of the metrics it was looking for. For instance, it mentioned that one of the domains did not have a dmoz or wikipedia link/page even though they had both? Also, it rarely returns the Yahoo Site Explorer metrics even though when clicking to see the source the data is there? Are you guys planning on phasing out this tool, if not it seems like some work needs to be done on cleaning it up. Thanks!
