Is this type of Internal Linking Bad or Good for my Site????
-
A while back we were schooled on "Link Silos" a reputable SEO source.... and one suggestion was to create links from our product pages (bottom of link silo), back up to it's higher category page. So for example...
Home > Tools > Hair Dryers > "Product"
On the subject product... we chose to link back to "Hair Dryers" and then "Andis" (that product's brand page.
You can see this at the below product page. We added the links below "Related Categories" in the product description.
http://www.beautystoponline.com/Andis-Colorwaves-Tourmaline-Hair-Dryer-Blue-Green-p/an1dry0295.htm
We are now thinking this may be just too much as there is already a "bread crumb" trail at the top of the product page. These are in essence links back up to higher categories.
Any input on these types of links would be appreciated.. Thanks!

Those links in 'Related Categories' are not required, not from an optimisation point of view nor a usability point of view - they carry no styling to make it obvious that they are links which can also flag elements when Google crawls your pages.
The 'Browse for more products in this category' section at the bottom of the page is also not required. There is uneccessary excessive use of internal linking which is likely to be considered 'over optimisation' by Google as per the latest algorithm updates.
Effective navigation is key in ecommerce websites, the main navigation and sidebar sub / layered navigation with necessary filters should be adequate in most cases. If you're only including additional linkage to try and rank pages higher for particular terms, then Google will detect this.
If your category structure goes quite deep or is relatively complex, consider including a module to display related categories in the same way you would display related products. In its current form though, it's not required, doesn't do your website any favours and will likely do more harm than good in the long run.
Consider checking our a click through overlay (Google Analytics provide one) where you can see just how many of your visitors are clicking through those links mentioned above.
Hope that helps.

Bullet points good or bad for seo?
Hi Everyone, After a body of unique content of say 50 words, will Google then penalise you for adding bullet points which will then be duplicated across all those products (say 100 products)? http://www.polesandblinds.com/acacia-teal-roller-blind/? Look forward to your comments, good or bad, Thanks Jonathan

International Website(s)
I have an e-commerce site currently selling in Canada and am now looking to branch it into the USA. We have both the .ca and .us domain names, but I am not sure what the best approach to this would be. If we put up a website on the .us domain name it would be virtually the same.. So I would assume we would have a duplicate content issue. What would be the best way to approach this type of situation?

Sudden Site Rankings Drop
Good day guys, We have been following strict SEO strategies for the past 6 months, all sites have been improving incredibly well, all except one. The site in question is http://bit.ly/IH4pkM . The site is regarding automotive spray booth equipment. We were ranking on the first page for the keyword "spray booth" (which is the most important one), at place #4 for weeks on end. However since half-way last week, the site has been dropped to half-way the second page (#17). There are barely any crawler errors listed for our campaign on SEOMoz. There were several pages of which the meta description was missing, but that has been fixed earlier this week. When it comes to link building, I looked at what the top competitors were doing, and was looking for unique link building opportunities myself. We have received 0 webmaster tools warnings as well. I do not believe we are penalized due to the "penguin" update. After all, if you search for for the company's name in Google, it is still listed on there (# 2). Nor have we been part of dodgy link networks at all. So my question is, what do you guys believe made us drop the rankings? Is there some on-page issues I am overlooking? Any recommendations to restore out previous rankings? Kind Regards, Roderic

Footer link to home page?
Quick question - is it a best practice to add a footer link on each page of a website that points back to your home page, with the anchor text being your official brand name?

Too many on page links
I'm having trouble interpreting this data. It says several of my blog pages have too many on page links, some as high as 140 and there is no example of a blog post that they are referring to. What am I missing? I never post more than a handful (5-7) in our 600-1000wd blogs. When I drill down, it doesn't give me very much information except "Found over 41 years ago" off to the right. When I click on the "too many on page links" URL, it provides a long list of website pages that are renamed with the blog name. huh? A lot of this stuff isn't very intuitive, SEOMoz.
