4XX (Client Error)

How much will 5 of these errors hurt my search engine ranking for the site itself (ie: the domain) if these 5 pages have this error.
-
not sure if this is any help to anyone but I have almost the same issue but it's a 500 error and the description says:
Traceback (most recent call last): File "build/bdist.linux-x86_64/egg/downpour/init.py", line 391, in _error failure.raiseException() File "/usr/local/lib/python2.7/site-packages/twisted/python/failure.py", line 370, in raiseException raise self.type, self.value, self.tb Error: 500 Internal Server Error
Talking to my hosting provider they said when the seomoz bot crawled my site it put my cpu usage over 25% causing the errors... We will see if this happens on Sunday.

One of my crawls has just completed and I see that I have 5 404 : Error messages that display the same error as quoted. I feel that I am being a little pedantic as 5 does seem petty in comparison to the numbers quoted by the other members, I would just like to know if there is something that I can do to eliminate these. Please can you advise if this is something only derived by the moz crawl itself or if it may have something to do with an external cause that I can influence?
I greatly appreciate your time.

Thank you!

We do know about the 406 errors, and we uploaded a fix for that on Tuesday. Your next crawl should not show these errors again.

I am experiencing exactly the same thing as alsvik-- I went from 0 406 errors to 681 in one week, having changed nothing on my site. Like him, it is PDFs and .jpgs that are generating this error, and I get EXACTLY the same error message.
Clearly, SEOmoz has changed a python script such that their bot no longer accepts these MIME types. Please correct this ASAP.
-
I just got spammed with 406 errors. Seomoz suddenly found 390 of these on my site (all png, jpg and pdf).
I have changed nothing on my site and GWT shows none of these. So i'm thinking that the Seomoz-crawler maybe doing something wrong ...
It all boils down to trust. I trust GWT (it may be slow though).

it is on a pdf with a link on it. The error message says:
<dt>Title</dt>
<dd>406 : Error</dd>
<dt>Meta Description</dt>
<dd>Traceback (most recent call last): File "build/bdist.linux-x86_64/egg/downpour/init.py", line 378, in _error failure.raiseException() File "/usr/local/lib/python2.7/site-packages/twisted/python/failure.py", line 370, in raiseException raise self.type, self.value, self.tb Error: 406 Not Acceptable</dd>

It's hard to quantify the impact of the 404 pages not knowing the relative size of your site.
Overall, the 404s aren't good for your SEO. You should work towards fixing the pages that are giving the error or 301 redirecting the bad urls.

Can increase in crawl errors in GWT) be caused by input fields and jquery?
Dear Mozzerz We took over www.urgiganten.dk not long ago and last week we opened up for indexation, after having taken the old website down for a couple of months. One week after opening for indexation we saw a huge increase in crawl errors.Google is discovering some weird links to e.g http://www.urgiganten.dk/30-garmin-urremme/ which returns a 404. In GWT we are told that we are linking to this url from http://www.urgiganten.dk/garmin-urremme. But nowhere on http://www.urgiganten.dk/garmin-urremme will you find this link. However you will find the following script in the source code, which is the only code part that contains "/30-garmin-urremme/":Can it be true that google take the id and adds it to our tld to form a url? We have seen quite a lot of these errors not only on Urgiganten.dk but also some of our other websites!

Crawl errors which ones should i sort out
Hi, just had my website updated to joomla 3.0 and i have around 4000 urls not found. now i have been told i need to redirect these but i would just like to check on here to make sure i am doing the right thing and the advice i have been given is not correct. I have been told these errors are the reason for the drop in rankings. I need to know if i should redirect all of these 4,000 urls or only the ones that are being linked to from outside of the site. I think about 3,000 of these have no links from outside of the site, but if i do not redirect them all then i am going to keep getting the error messages. around 2,000 of these url not found are from the last time we updated the site which was a couple of years ago and i thought they would have died off now. any advice on what i should do would be great

GWT crawl errors: How big a ranking issue?
For family reasons (child to look after) I can't keep a close eye on my SEO and SERPs. But from top 10 rankings in January for a dozen keywords I'm now not in top 80 results -- save one keyword for which I'm ~18-20.

Not a sitewide penalty: some of my internal pages are still ranking top 3 or so. In GWT, late March I received warning of a rise in server errors:
17 Server Errors/575 soft 404s/17 Not Founds/Access Denied 1/Others 4
I've also got 2 very old sitemaps (from two different ex-SEO firms) & I'm guessing about 75% of the links on there no longer exist. Q: Could all this be behind my calamitous SERPS drop? Or should I be devoting my -- limited -- time to improving my links?0 -
Carl errors on urls that don't normally exist
Hi, I have been having heaps (thousands) of SEOMoz crawl errors on urls that don't exist normally like: mydomain.com/RoomAvailability.aspx?DateFrom=2012-Oct-26&rcid=-1&Nights=2&Adults=1&Children=0&search=BestPrice These urls are missing siteids and other parameters and I can't see how they are gererated. Does anyone have any ideas on where MOZ is finding them ? Thanks Stephen

URL Error "NODE"
Hey guys, So I crawled my site after fixing a few issues, but for some reason I'm getting this strange node error that goes www.url.com/node/35801 which I haven't seen before. It appears to originate from user submitted content and when I go to the page it's a YouTube video with no video playing just a black blank screen. Has anyone had this issue before. I think it can probably just be taken off the site, but if it's a programming error of some sort I'd just like to know what it is to avoid it in the future. Thanks

How to properly remove 404 errors
Hi, According to seomoz report I have two 404 errors on my site. (http://screencast.com/t/2FG8fA1dvGB) I removed them from google webmasters central about 2 weeks ago (http://screencast.com/t/MQ8XBvrFm ) , but they're still showing as an error in the next report (weekly update). Is there anything else you do about 404 or just remove urls through gwc? Or maybe seomoz data is delayed? Thanks in advance, JJ

RSS Feed Errors in Google
We recently (2 months ago) launched RSS feeds for the category pages on our site. Last week we started seeing error pages in Webmaster Tools' Crawl Errors report pop up for feeds of old pages that have been deleted from the site, deleted from the sitemap, and not in Google's index since long before we launched the RSS feeds. Example: www.mysite.com/super-old-page/feed/ I checked and both the URL for the feed and the URL for the actual page are returning 404 statuses. www.mysite.com/super-old-page/ is also showing up in our Crawl Errors. Its been deleted for months but Webmaster Tools is very slow to remove the page from their Crawl Error report. Where is Google finding these feeds that never existed?

My clients website od 100% Flash...Will my SEO efforts be wasted?
My client has a Photography website and has an al carte design. It's in Flash and in 3 years only 3 pages of say 50 are indexed. Are my efforts being wasted?Should I redesign the site in an SEO friendly language? Or, if I build out a huge link building campaign it doesn't matter if I am in Flash or not? Thanks
