Boosting page authority/rank by linking from blog
-
We're developing several blogs and I was wondering if it would make sense to periodically create blog entries that 'naturally' link to certain pages on the main site. For example we have a large amount of 'partners' across the country, and we wanted to do an interview series on the blog, and insert a link into the interview, such as "partner bob services the Boston area", or something more elegant than that. Would have have any significant impact on the 'boston page aside from the pass through traffic from the blog?"

I tend to agree with Catalyste - in theory, those links will help you, but in practice Google is probably going to devalue that blog network over time. It's just too easy to link to your own sites that way.
Contextual links like that are definitely safer these days then obvious, sitewide links (like footer links), but I'd definitely proceed with caution. At least make them relevant and vary the anchor text - don't over-engineer it.
In most cases, it's more of a filter issue than a penalty. If you link a handful of blogs you own to your own site, it'll probably help for a while, and then Google may turn the volume down. If you're cross-linking 20+ sites, then you're risking a more severe problem.

I would say that it's a bit risky since it's not "Natural" that much, especially if you site on are the same IP ou Class C and are not really related in thematic. It's even worse if your several blogs are using duplicate, automated or Thin content.
You should focus on getting good links instead. But thing is good links are hard to find. You can also focus on Social medias to increase you Social signal and sharing to increase natural linking schemes.

Ranking dropped after change single page url, should I change it back?
I was making updates to the content on the following page, and a few days later dropped from #2 SERP ranking to 50+. Things I checked: Yes, 301 redirect was implemented right away. After publishing, I manually requested indexing in search console. Right after publishing I re-submitted the sitemap manually and Google said they had not crawled it in 9 days. My question: should I change the URL back to the old one, or give it a little more time (especially since I re-submitted sitemap) Original URL: https://www.travelinsurancereview.net/plans/travel-medical/ New URL: https://www.travelinsurancereview.net/plans/travel-medical-insurance/

Sale page ranking for "[blank] for sale" keywords
My company's Ecommerce site has a sale category that is currently out performing some of our normal categories in the SERPs for "[blank] for sale" keywords. For example the sale category landing page is ranking for the keyword "vegetable seeds for sale" rather than the vegetable seed category. Has anyone ever dealt with a similar situation to this? or does anyone have general advice for optimizing (or weakening) sale pages?

Is a particular page not ranking for any reason?
I posted about the Google WEbmaster tools Structured Data set up in this thread here: http://moz.com/community/q/using-google-structured-data-for-seo-benefit Just a follow up question (or separate)... would having a lot of products with marked up data (via webmaster tools and not on page) hurt SEO rankings? I have not got any warning/notice etc in Google Webmaster tools about it. Search term 'buy isagenix' on Google Australia Product listing page not in top 50

Too many on page links in sitemap.html
My crawl report is flagging an issue with too many links to one of my pages, this page is my sitemap.html. However, I have coded the page so that if required is specified it generates an .xml version of the page and if not then the html version is displayed. What is the best way to stop the crawl finding the html version whilst maintaining it on the site for clients navigation?

Is the on-page link count a distinct count or a gross count?
My Crawl Diagnostic report is showing too many on-page links (~120-141). Is this a count of distinct links (i.e. example.com and example.com/?q count as 2)?

All links that are added know goes to www.version still the non www. is ranking highest. Should i worry about this or will simply the otherone overcome it in time ?

On page internal link text
Hi, I'm in the process of rebuilding/designing an existing well ranking niche bespoke software site and have the following question - In the footer, I'm planning on linking to the main landing pages (blue widget software, red widget software etc theres about 7 in total). In these links I want to know if its best to have the word "software" in each link as I'm scared of it looking spamy. We sell custom software, and a lot of the keywords that currently attract traffic (as reported in analytics) end in the word software, for example - blue widget software red widget software In the footer would you end each link with software or not? How much effect would this have on rankings? Thanks in advance.
