What's the best way to get links from images?
-
I have a few images that I have taken recently and I was wondering what might be the best way to use them. Ideally I would like to get a few links or some interest via social networks. I know I've a few options including:
- adding images directly to the website
- adding images to Flickr or similar
- adding images to Google+
- adding images to Facebook
- adding images to twitpic or similar
I was also intending in keeping some images to include directly in posts.
Should I concentrate posting images directly on the site or use social networks? Which social networks work well for images? How can I use images to get links?

Don't forget the Pininterest - if you have good images, incredible SEO potential there.
Also, find relevant websites who might find your images interesting - not difficult if your pics are unique and not-so-common. You can allow them to use it if they link to you.
-
If you want to build links from your images then you will need to allow hotlinking from your site - there is a great piece of code from Patrick Atloft and also a Wordpress plugin that will mean you can get links via this method but the script can be heavy on your bandwidth each month.
As for using your images as part of your social media then Pinterest and Flickr would be good places to start.

Merging Facebook Pages - Getting Support from Facebook
Does anyone know how to get in touch with Facebook regarding issues with Facebook Pages and Merging Pages - I have posted on the Facebook Community Help Pages but no one from Facebook Support seems to read them or get in touch. Anyone got any ideas of how to get help from Facebook? Our original question on Facebook Community Help Pages was this but the question just got "merged" with another question where people were complaining about the same sort of problem with no one (out of 5 people on the thread) having come up with a solution of having heard from Facebook Support. We need to merge two company pages - The category and the address of the company of the page is the same on both pages - one page has a custom url - one does not. Both have the same first two words (i.e. the company name) as the page title. I do not want to list the pages publicly. Is there a way a member of facebook support can message us privately to discuss this please.

Here is two examples: http://www.facit.com/se/test-renault-megane-sport-tourer-16-dci/ http://www.facit.com/se/test-av-vw-passat-alltrack/ Can anyone help me or explain if there is something I have done wrong? Twitter inbound link not being indexed
Hello Mozzers! I was using open site explorer to investigate inbound links to our company website and also to our competitors. The main difference being is their top links are all coming from twitter - where as ours aren't. Now our twitter account is about 10months old maybe more and it's got the standard setup with a description and the URL. We've also been tweeting with a link directly to our site. Yet no luck? Am I missing something? Thanks, Dan

Do keywords in a URL that's linkified provide anchor text benefits?
I'm curious about links that are just URLs (e.g. http://www.google.com/reader) or in a URL-like format (e.g. Google.com/Reader) vs links with plain-word anchor text (e.g. Google Reader). If a link that is just a URL (or a partial URL) has keywords in it, do those keywords provide anchor text relevance benefits? I'm particularly thinking about URL shorteners that provide customized links, and social media. Many web tools (twitter, blog comment systems) don't render HTML but will automatically link URLs. If http://boston.craigslist.org/jjj/ gets linked to through custom shortened URLs like http://bit.ly/Boston-Jobs, is it more likely to rank for the term "Boston Jobs" than if it received the same number of links using a non-custom shortened URL like http://bit.ly/ejq5uX9?

How do I control the thumbnail image for a link on a Facebook post?
Hi, All! I've spent about an hour working on this with no success, so I thought I would ask the community: How do you tell Facebook which image to put in for the thumbnail on a link you're posting? And I would like it to be a different image for each post, and I don't want to have to deal with programming PHP (the main solutions I saw). I'm on a Wordpress based site, and I've tried putting images in as the featured image, made sure they weren't huge (under 200x200), made sure they were .jpeg... and the only thing that Facebook offers me as a thumbnail is a generic "green globe" image that I don't believe comes from my site at all. Any ideas? Thanks in advance!
