Optimization report card says "F" but I'm ranking #1
-
Using the SEOMoz pro tools and several of the terms I have listed get a report card of "F" but they also show Google rank of #1, #2. Is this unusual? And should I spend a lot of time "fixing" this if we're already ranking high?
-
Hi Sean,
There are few things that could be at play here ...first of all, it is not unusual to rank well for terms that are not particularly competitive. (Competition is measured by how many pages are out there that are actually optimized for a term).
The other thing to be aware of is that the standard reports you might receive in your email often give you the On-page Grade for keyword terms against your home page. If you have actually optimized a completely different page on your site for that term, you would not expect to get a fantastic grade against the home page.
If you look at the list on the left side of your reports it will tell you the URL of the page it is grading against. To check how the grade looks against the actual page where you optimized for the term, open the On-page tool and run the keyword term against the specific URL.
Hope that helps,
Sha

"Does not respond to web requests" error
When trying to set up a new campaign I get the following message:
Moz Pro | | bshanahan
"Roger has detected a problem: We have detected that the domain www.chicagofinancialadvisers.com does not respond to web requests. Using this domain, we will be unable to crawl your site or present accurate SERP information." Can someone please tell me what I need to do on my site to make this work? I haven't seen this before and have done many other campaigns. Thanks a lot!0 -
More complete campaign reports
SEOMoz campaigns include a lot more data than can be sent via email automatically with the custom reporting feature. So what do people do to send that data to clients? Do you not include it? Or export reports manually and send them on? Or something else?

SEOMoz ranking reports inaccurate for Google?
So I have notice that, at least for some searches, the rankings shown in SEOMoz's ranking reports are meaningless. I assume this is due to blended search results including local search. For example, I have a client, who is ranked 3rd overall for one of his most important search terms, but his ranking is based upon his local result (there are 2 organic search results and then he is the first local result). The SEOMoz report shows him being ranked 12th. Anyway I count down to the 12th ranked site (including local search, not including local search) his site is not there. In fact the only place it is in the top 3 pages is in the local result. As a local marketing consultant, almost all of my clients are looking to be found for "Jackson Hole" this or that, or "Jackson, WY" this or that, so this is a pretty critical issue to me. I would appreciate feedback. Thanks!

SEOmoz ranking report SERP
I was wondering how SEOmoz the SERPs tracks? e.g. the SERP of keyword in the Google US report, doesn't give me the same result as https://www.google.com/search?pws=0&gl=us&q=keyword Does SEOmoz check the google.com SERPs from several locations and calculate an average?

Rankings csv export doesn't show local rank
Is there a way to enable this in the settings somewhere? or is this simply not an available feature yet? Would be really great if there was an extra column in the report that shows local rank, as 93 of our top 100 keywords we track are all blended search results and a lot of the time this shows really inaccurate results because of this.

Is the "Too Many Links" metric a blunt instrument?
The SEO Moz crawl diagnostics suggest that we have too many on-page links on several pages including on our homepage. How does your system determine when a page has too many links. It looks like when a page as more than 100 links it’s too many. Should the system take into account the page authority, domain authority, depth of page or other metrics? In addition, no-follow links are being included. As these are dropped from Google’s link graph, does it matter if we have too many? For example, we could have 200 links, 120 of which are no follow. Your tools would tell us we have too many links. Feedback appreciated. Donal
