Am I cannabalizing my title tags or is there a better way?
-
I've read some info about title tags and meta, and I'm getting a little confused. If there is a previous discussion that I've missed, please redirect me. thank you.
So I have a locksmith and one of his pages is on Auto Locksmith.
For every car, I have a page. i.e Acura, Audi, BMW etc.
Here is my title tag:
- Acura Car Keys| Ignition Switch Repair| Key Duplication
- BMW Car Keys| Ignition Switch Repair| Key Duplication
- Same for the rest of the different car models on the site.
I previously asked a question on here about "What is Cannibalization", and after reading the answer, as well as a full article about it, I think I may be potentially cannibalizing my site with these title tags, though my SEO Moz has not indicated that I am.
Should my title tags be instead...
Acura car keys| Acura Ignition Switch Repair| Acura Key Duplication for each vehicle page?
Additionally, all the Meta Descriptions on each vehicle page read the same as well. Is this correct?
We duplicate Acura car keys, repair ignition switches, extract broken keys, replace remotes, reprogram transponder keys and provide emergency locksmith srvc.
Lastly, this is for a city, yet I have not placed the city modifier in my tags nor content. Somehow it knows what city I'm in because some of my pages are ranking on Page 1, however other pages are ranking like #188, #257...So I'm just confused.
Thanks for any help you can provide.

Title tags need to be concise but need to do a good job of defining what the page is about. The best title tag in your example is:
Acura car keys | Acura Ignition Switch Repair | Acura Key Duplication Make sure there is a pace after the last word in each kewyrod.
To localize and geo-target the same listing you could use Dallas acura car keys / dallas acura ignition switch repis.....or Acura car keys in dallas / Acura ignition switch in Dallas........
Localizing and geo-targeting the title makes sense and will help you in local results.
The meta tage description should be more huiman readbale and should add some additional detail. make sure mutliple pages are not the same exact meta descritpion with the exception of the car type. Mix them up in content but make them applicable to the subject.
For example: "We are the best locksmith in Dallas. We provide Car keys, Ignition switch repair and key duplication for all acura makes and models in the dallas area."
This is Googles webmaster tools description of what you should do with the meta tag:
The description attribute within the tag is a good way to provide a concise, human-readable summary of each page’s content. Google will sometimes use the meta description of a page in search results snippets, if we think it gives users a more accurate description than would be possible purely from the on-page content. Accurate meta descriptions can help improve your clickthrough; here are some guidelines for properly using the meta description.

Dont worry about cannibalizing if you follow these rules. You will be in good shape.
Good luck.

Q&A Page Titles
Hello All! I am currently updating page titles and metadata descriptions for a websites Q&A section and have run in to a problem while updating page titles. Since it is the Q&A section of the website, all of the page titles are around 100 characters and some are up to 200 characters long. Here is an example: Page Title: My child is working below grade level in math. Do I have to purchase the curriculum from the grade below as well? The problem is that this is obviously too long for a SERP to display however I know it is best practice to have matching titles on both the title tag and page title. My question is what hurts SEO value more: the title tag and title of the page not matching or having a very long title displayed on the SERP?

Title tag length
Hi, I am fairly new to SEO and have just noticed the end of my title text has been cut off by Google in the serps results. Everything i have read tells me titles should be maximum of 70 characters, however, Google is only displaying 54. See below Security systems | wireless | battery powered | Police... Nobody else on the page is showing more than 54 characters. Am i missing something obvious? Any and all help gratefully appreciated. Thanks Si

The Best Way to Market a Blog Post?
So . . . I've written a beautiful blog (or video or podcast or whatever . . . just take my word for it that it will be nominated for an Oscar, Webby, or Pulitzer very soon). What's the best way to get the word out about it? Let me rephrase that. I know I should tweet, post on Facebook, social networks etc cetera. My real question is, should I link to the home page (which is where my blog is located . . . it would show up there) or should I link to the specific page of the full blog post? Seems to me, linking to the blog post directly gives me a better chance at tracking the success of the article in generating interest and traffic, but I was assuming linking to the home page helped pump up the importance of my overall site? I still consider myself an SEO Noob so be sure to speak slowly and not use big words. Consider drawing pictures.

Title tag questions
General title tag questions how important is it not to change your title tag, I own a prom dress site and I'm always changing them between prom and homecoming' Is it bad to have title tags that are only different by one word across thousands of pages on your site. I have thousands of dresses so each title tag only varies by the style # I have always had title tags that are for example black prom dresses, well i recently discovered that just black dresses is googled 10 times the amount so im debating changing them to black dresses so that the word dresses is closer to the front of the title tag, am I over reacting or is that a good idea or would it be bad to put black dresses, black prom dresses, black homecoming dresses I also put the year in almost every title tag 2012, is that bad, I ranked great for 2012 stuff but could it hurt my homepage domain rankings on major broader keywords

DUPLICATE PAGE TITLE ISSUE
Hi We have 25 pages with a download form on it. People arrive at the page through a ink with optimised anchor text which sits on the information pages. As there is no information on these pages we do not need them to be optimised so the developer has given all the download pages exactly the same page title. Although the pages in themselves are not significant would this effect the way Google viewed the whole site, and would it pay to make each one unique or doesn't it really matter. Alternatively, is there a better way to handle this? and if so would that ligate the benefit of the anchor text. Thanks
