Link cannibalization
-
My on page report card gives me an "A" in every category but "link cannibalization".
The key word is I am targeting is "home care".
It says my links to "home care blog" and "in home care agency locator" are cannibalizing my home page. Am I indeed causing problems by using these modified versions of the keyword?
Also is it okay to have the link "home care" for the home link in the main navigation bar?
Thanks

Yes, this is correct, the anchor text for the links question "home care blog" and "in home locator" link to my agency locator page and home care blog which are targeting those terms.

Are you using "home care blog" and "in home care agency locator" as the target phrases on the other pages that you are linking to? For example, are you targeting "home care" on the discussed page, and the others phrase on other pages?
If so, I'd say to ignore the link cannibalization warning.

Should I nofollow certain outbound links?
Hi, All of our outbound links are currently follow.I've read that the only case where nofollow should be used, according to Google, is for paid links, crawl prioritization & untrustworthy sites. The kinds of websites we are linking to from our blog include:- Websites with great content & high authority that is relevant to the topic we've written about that would enhance the user experience- Partners/companies we have a strong relationship with who also have decent authority- Social media profiles of industry people not within our organisation - Websites with definitions/wikipedia/soundcloud/published statistics/news sites and other large well known sites. I am wondering if we should put the nofollow attribute on the last 2 points (social media profiles of people we've referenced, websites with definitions/wikipedia/soundcloud/published statistics/news sites and other large well known sites.)Or do you think it's totally fine that all our links are follow provided the websites are legitimate, trustworthy and have some authority? Thanks in advance!

When i search for something in Google the snippet image and content is shown and in Google when clicked it redirects to a page which is not meant to be shown for the keyword the visitor is querying Is there a way i can block all the links and content shown in the right and left side of the page so Google does not get confused with the page content thats not related to that page? thanks

Anyone know of a tool to monitor site for outgoing links?
Is there any type of tool that can monitor a large website's outgoing links? I'm dealing with a huge site and was hoping there was something available that could check outgoing links without having to go through each page manually. (I'm looking to remove anything that links to a bad neighborhood). Thanks.

Avoid Keyword Self-Cannibalization
Okay so if my website has the keyword 'dog training'. My main page shows one of my posts in which the title is 'dog training'. I cannot change it because the SEOMOZ on page tool tells me to keep the keyword at the front of the title for SEO increase I don't understand... <dl> <dd>Although employing targeted keywords in the H1 tag does not correlate well to high rankings, it does appear to provide some slight value. It's also considered a best practice for accessibility and to describe a page's content, hence our recommendation.

However, keyword stuffing may be perceived negatively by the search engines and can impact rankings. Thus, we suggest keeping keyword usage in the H1 to 2 or fewer uses.</dd> <dd>If I remove it then this shows up or change the anchor text. It pisses me the hell off because this damn tool doesn't even say how to fix the problem. If I go into one of my posts, the main title of my blog shows up in the top right corner which happens to be my keyword (I cannot change it) so what the f' do I do?????</dd> <dd>If someone could just take a look at my blog and tell me all the wrongs about it and how to fix everything, that would be amazing.

Our website has been created with a wrong structure and I have to change the URL of a couple of pages. E. G. http://www.ix-tours.com/Youth/ixdestBrusselYouth.aspx should be changed to http://www.ix-tours.com/DE/Jugend/BruesselJ.aspx to allow search identify it as a german page. What to do? Should I delete all content from the old page and insert the redirect to the knew one? The code as follows has to be inserted in the head section? Thank you for your help Brgds georg

Anchor text on outbound links on a blog, relevancy detrimental or positive?
We have a blog related to computer support, and we have been using guest posts and promotion of those posts to boost freshness and rankings of the blog. We have been restricting outbound links to prevent words such as 'computer repair, 'computer support' etc, because we were under the impression that if we want to rank for those words, we should only allow INCOMING links with that anchor text, and that outbound links from the page, would rob the other parts of the site of the link juice this page provides. My question is, is this wrong? Should I freely allow outbound links on my blog page that contain anchor text that I my self am trying to rank for? Or was I correct initially? Current the anchor text is in 'related' industries, such as mobile apps, technology news, etc...things that google might think are 'related', but not exactly what the site is about.
