Guest Posts on Sites With Irrelevant Outbound Links
-
Suppose you came across a website in your niche with solid domain authority that accepts guest posts. However you notice some of the guest posts are linking out to somewhat off-topic sites. If you already have an article that you think would be accepted easily and all you have to do is spend 10 minutes to craft an email pitch, would you do it? Why?

Francisco raises some excellent points. In evaluating the risk of the link being bad -- I'd avoid sites that are filled primarily with "guest posts" or have much (perhaps no more than 10 %) "off topic" posts and also consider how close (or far) the topics are "off topic" on the blog you're considering contributing too. Many websites feature almost entirely guest blogged stuff but remain consistently close in the topic. Most that accept lots of guest contributions seem to be no better than the old BMR sites (i.e., lots of off topic stuff). I expect the day is not very far away when only the strongest sites which consist primarily of guest posts pass along much juice. My $. 02

Think about the short term gains vs long term gains. If this site helps you rank for the short term and you make money, then it may be okay.
Also, consider the business objectives of your site or client's site. I have a client who wants to retire. There is NO FREAKIN way I would do this because it can flag Google and then penalties may occur. If this happened, then my client would not be able to retire.
Also, you are entering into gray hat SEO practices. You can get away with it "if" your site is already an authority, but I wouldn't risk it if your site is new. If the site is new, then the link profile is weak and it's easy to point webmasters out who game Google's algorithm.

Do links from such sites as TripAdvisor give any weight or support for SEO
And what about other sites like quora or other niche forums/blogs where one might leave answers, with a link to their profile, which has a link back to the owner's website? _Cindy

What will the SECOND link from a site do for me
Say I have an opportunity to get another link from a high authority site that has already linked an important article from me (a page I REALLY want to rank well). Now a month later, they are interviewing me and asking what I'd like to link. I have plenty of good content I can offer, but I really want that page they already linked to to climb a bit in the rankings. So my question is, how is that second link best spent? Would linking to the same page give it a boost? Or does Google see it as "oh. Another link from the same domain. Yippee." Would that link do more for a different page on my site at this point?

Newbie Q: How soon should i see backlink from guest post
I recently got featured in couple of blog posts and there were back-links to my site. How soon should i expect to see these in Moz Open Explorer and also in Google Search Console? If i don't see these links, is there something I need to do? Thanks

Migrating blog posts to new site
I'm in the process of setting up a new site for a client, moving them over to WordPress from Joomla. They've got 50ish blog posts on their old site, but none of them have accumulated any external links. Is it worth it to copy them over to the new site for the sake of retaining all that content, or better just to start from scratch?

Linking back to a high authority site
I have an odd situation. One of our most powerful links comes from a not-for-profit whom we have an advertisement with. That ad gets us half of our business. Recently, they slipped for the term that got them the traffic that flowed to our site. I was thinking of linking back to that page to boost them up a bit. Their page is a deep page on a high authority domain with only a few links. I am an authority site for my niche. I'd like to boost them up without diminishing my rank for other related terms. I'm willing to consider linking to them from my homepage, blog or link page. To play it safe I could just link build to them from outside my domain. Can I just link to them and its not a big deal?

Pursuing Links on Sites You Have a Link From
Is it a bad idea to spend resources to get a second link from a site that already links to you? It seems like the marginal value of each additional link is much smaller than the first link.

How to link blog posts to web pages
In past I would write blog posts and link to a static web page. The link from the blog post to the static web page would be the same keyword(s) as the web page was optimized around. With the latest Google updates, it seems like the keywords linking to the web page need to be varied, but I'm not sure what the ideal system would be?
