Why does the link analysis of my website say I have no links?
-
When I click on the "Link Analysis" tab it says my website has a domain authority of 1 and has 0's for every other category.
When I run it in Open Site Explorer - it says I have a page authority of 51 with over 4600 links.
My website also seems to be at a stand still over the past several weeks. Anyone know why the two Link Analysis is not showing anything?
Thank you

Although I am using Volusion for some clients, I hate them. Too limited and I will go out of my way to get customers away from them. I do have a client using Volusion, he is paying ~$500 a month for unlimited bandwidth...$500!?!?!! I mean cmon!
-
That is extremely funny that you mention that.
We are currently undergoing a complete re-design of our website and are switching to Magento ASAP (hopefully in the next 2-3 months). We have over 40,000 skus so it will be a task but we have had major issues with Volusion that it will be well worth any ranking dips we get after the switch
Good luck to you and thanks for all of your help!

No problem. Also I just visited your site, your right sidebar is showing up in the middle of the page when you scroll down.
Also, you should not use Volusion, they are horrible. For a small volume or local business, I guess its not that bad but if you are planning on expanding, I say leave them now while you still can.
I'd suggest Magento, hosting is cheaper. Volusion rips people off with the bandwidth limitations. I get charged 100-200 extra a month for bandwidth limitation, I am trying to move to Magento but currently don't have enough time to input 2000 products with customized descriptions and titles.

Thanks William - I entered the domain without the www. for some reason.
I appreciate your help!

What "Link Analysis" are you talking about? I'm looking around and can't see what you are referring to.
You might or should contact SEOmoz if this is part of the tool set.
What I think you are referring to is on the 'Campaign' tab and then bottom where it says competitive link analysis. If this is the case, you might have entered the wrong domain.
i.e.
These both domains could be the same root domain but will have a different page authority and domain authority. You might have the non-homepage set up in your Campaign settings, and on OSE, you are searching your exact domain probably.
This is a guess, assuming I know what you are referring to.

Is it possible to find out how many indexed pages a website had at particular dates in the past?
I've found all kinds of websites and tools that can tell me how many pages a site has indexed currently, but how about historically? Does such a tool exist?

Is building links just to risky to do nowadays?
Hi, How risky is link building nowadays? I have a site which has been left on its own and over time has generated links which is great, its a resource type of site so works well in that department. The reason it picks up links by itself is because I have spent time on it and in the past I could just leave and the links it would pick up would maintain its rankings. Over the last 6 months a lot of marketers have noticed this large traffic, and have produced 1 page sites going directly for my main term - then putting adsense all over it. So problem is, my site can't build links by itself as fast as these marketers are doing manually. Don't get me wrong I can do what they are doing but they don't care about their 1 pager as much as I do about my site - a lot of work has gone into it. Can I link build without running a 'big' risk of having my site hit by Google? how does one build links the way Google is ok with? Thanks.

Ecommerce Website Product Rich Snippet Image
Greetings Mozzers, I'm working on an ecommerce site and my goal is to have the product rich snippets on each of them however, I would like an image to start displaying in the SERPs. Looking for some guidance on this issue. Here is a well phrased questioned I found that sums up my thoughts: Product schema has the "image" attribute, but it is not displayed in rich snippets in SERP. However, there is recipe schema and it allows to show image directly on SERP. It means that we can define two entities on a page (product and recipe, it is allowed) and it should display an image from recipe's part + the rest of information (price, availability) from product's part. I know it is a dirty hack and semantically incorrect, but will it work? If so, would it affect rankings or not? Any other drawbacks? Thank you for any advice/clarification!

Thoughts on Nofollow My Account / Shopping Cart Pages on an eCommerce Website
I recently noticed most of my competitors (eCommerce sites) have linked to pages within their sites that do not always contain product information (my account, shopping cart, etc) using rel="nofollow". My site does not currently do this. Are there any advantages to using rel="nofollow" on similar pages on our site? Any disadvantages?

Internal/External link ratio
I have a client who ranked #3 for a very important and highly competitive keyword phrase. Using the 'Compare Pages' tool in open site explorer I could see that we were far better optimized than the two websites that were out ranking my client. Our PA was higher, the MozRank was higher, more internal and external links (and the external are all high quality) more linking C blocks etc.. etc... not just the page but the website, in general, was better optimized. The one thing I did notice was that although we had more internal and external links, our ratio was far heavier to the external side than the ratio of either competitor. So, at a loss of what else to do, I went through the website and beefed up the internal links to the specific page in question. I didn't over do it, just moved up from about 6% to about 12% (one competitor was at about 20% while the other was about 65%). Six days later we are number two rather than number three. Coincidence? Should I beef it up even more? Has anyone ever come across anything like this? Thank you for your comments in advance.

Open Site Explorer Twitter and Facebook Links
I was using Open Site Explorer to compare some of my site's links to a competitor and I noticed that my Twitter page is not counting as an incoming link, whereas theirs are. From what I can tell, we have the same kind of setup on my twitter page, listing the domain in the company information... but no luck. Any suggestions on what I may be able to change? For reference: twitter.com/mediamegamall ... I know I need to work on the twitter presence... one thing at a time 🙂

Link Attack
Here is an interesting situation. Overnight SEOMoz is now reporting about 1.1 million new backlinks to my site. The links look like they were added in March of 2011 and they are all on porn sites and link back to me with the words like "Indian Sex", "Sex Bathe", and "insex." This appears to be yet another attack on my site and it looks like it happened right before the April Panda update that hosed me. As an example of one of the pages you can look at seapotentialdifference.com/inurlife/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=3081 and look for the link for Indian Sex. They linked to my forum and not the home page. At the same time SEOMoz discovered these links my DA dropped from 62 to 58. I'm wondering if anyone thinks these issues are connected. More importantly, does anyone have a suggestion on how to deal with this? For some reason the PA and DA of the porn site pages is above 70. This will probably be an ongoing battle for me since I am a journalist that covers the debt relief world and scammers don't like for me to expose them in an effort to protect consumers.
