Penalities in a brand new site, Sandbox Time or rather a problem of the site?
-
Hi guys, 4 weeks ago we launched a site www.adsl-test.it. We just make some article marketing and developed a lots of functionalities to test and share the result of the speed tests runned throug the site.
We have been for weeks in 9th google serp page then suddendly for a day (the 29 of february) in the second page next day the website home is disappeared even to brand search like adsl-test.
The actual situalion is:
- it looks like we are not banned (site:www.adsl-test.it is still listed)
- GWT doesn't show any suggestion and everything looks good for it
- we are quite high on bing.it and yahoo.it (4th place in the first page) for adsl test search
Anybody could help us to understand?
Another think that I thought is that we create a single ID for each test that we are running and these test are indexed by google
Ex: <cite>www.adsl-test.it/speedtest/w08ZMPKl3R or</cite> <cite>www.adsl-test.it/speedtest/P87t7Z7cd9</cite>
Actually the content of these urls are quite different (because the speed measured is different) but, being a badge the other contents in the page are pretty the same.
Could be a possible reason? I mean google just think we are creating duplicate content also if they are not effectively duplicated content but just the result of a speed test?

Thanks for the follow up. AdWords won't directly affect your organic rank.
I would take a look at how www.speedtest.net is allowing sharing and historical tracking of users' speed tests. I believe they allow users to do what you're looking to achieve while at the same time not publishing each test's results in the Google index.

Thank for the quick response, I immagine there is no way to forecast how much time we will be bounced
Do you think that running during this period an adwords campaign will affect the situation in a positive or negative way?
Consider that we runned a adword campaign for the first two weeks of site's launch then stopped it because we would to develope more features before launching it again. But at the moment traffic is really low on website
Regarding your question:
Actually it was just a feature to help people to share their results using a simple link.We tough also it would be nice for people to find via google results of ADSL speed test from people who live in the same town.

Hello,
Sometimes new sites will bounce around in rank as Google tries to collect data. They will subsequently settle to their true rank. This may be the case here.
What is your reasoning for saving each individual's results on a static page using a unique ID?

Long title problem
I'm getting an incredible number of 4xx errors and long titles from a small website (northstarpad.com); over 13k 4xx errors and almost 20k "title element is too long". The number keeps climbing, but the site shouldn't have more than a couple hundred pages. When I look at the 4xx errors they are clearly being generated by some program since they have multiple and repeating keywords. Here's an example: | http://northstarpad.com/category/wedding-photographer-farmington-michigan/pet-photography/wedding-photography/pet-photography/wedding-photography/wedding-photography/wedding-photography/pet-photography/wedding-photography/wedding-photography/pet-photography/ | I looked at the ftp files and plugins and couldn't see anything that could cause it, but I'm a beginner so no surprise there. Any suggestions where to look or how to fix this?

Can the sudden addition of a new section of a website cause the site to be sandboxed?
Hi there, We have noticed a sudden drop in traffic for certain keywords. It seems to correlate precisely with a different department adding a whole new recruitment section to the site. However there doesn't appear to be any keyword cannibalization or duplicate content issues. Any ideas would be most appreciated. Thanks

Staging site and "live" site have both been indexed by Google
While creating a site we forgot to password protect the staging site while it was being built. Now that the site has been moved to the new domain, it has come to my attention that both the staging site (site.staging.com) and the "live" site (site.com) are both being indexed. What is the best way to solve this problem? I was thinking about adding a 301 redirect from the staging site to the live site via HTACCESS. Any recommendations?

We just recently moved site domains, and I tried to set up a new campaign for the new root domain, but it threw an error?
It threw an error saying we cannot access the SERPs of this site? Any reason why? It is an https:// site instead of the http://, but even our older domain had an https://

New URL or Folder Off Existing Site
I am working on a project that is promoting dining in a particular region of the southwest for a destination marketing company. The parent Web site is an authority in the region and ranks well for almost all terms related to the leisure experience in the region. A completely separate Web site was built to promote this culinary program as it involves a committee of different stakeholders, but it’s solely focused on the region. My question is this. The site is on a different CMS, etc., but the overall experience on the site is similar to the parent DMO site in terms of creative. The client has a brand new domain that they purchased for this initiative, but we are also considering mapping the parent site URL to the new culinary site. Parent: www.regionalsite.com New Themed Site: www.regionalsite.com/theme/ Or www.themeurl.com My fear is that if I take the approach of the new URL that it will take forever for the site to build any link clout at all, as the client doesn’t really get the fact that working a link strategy is so critical. However, I know that having links from the regional site over to the theme URL will have an impact. Also, if I do take the approach of mapping the URL to a new folder off of the parent domain, do I risk that 2nd tier links on the micro-site will have a challenge indexing as they will essentially be on tier 3? Any advice would be appreciated.

Will Google index a 301 redirect for a new site?
So here is the problem... We have setup a 301redirect for our clients website. When you search the clients name it comes up with the old .co.uk website. We have made this redirect to the new .com website. However on the SERPs when it shows the .co.uk it shows the old title pages which currently say 'Holding Page'. When you click on that link it takes you to the fully functioning .com website. My question is, will the title tags in the SERPs which show the .co.uk update to the new ones from the .com? I'm thinking it will be just a case of Google catching up on things and it will sort itself out eventually. If anyone could help I would REALLY appreciate it. Thanks Chris
