# element above Menu - Is there any SEO Value to it
-
Is there any Value to having the H1 element above the MENU in a Typical Application ? My intention is to tell the "Bot" that the H1 element is more important than the Menu Items .
Are there any examples of such sites . The closest that I have seen is (NOT MY SITES)
http://www.airfarewatchdog.com/
and
Here they (second link) they have H1 above the Bread Crumb ( they dont have any menu though).

Hi Chaits
I generally agree with Kevin about the user experience. Its always more important to please your users than Google.
Having said that, we did experience a quite significant increase in rankings when "moving" a menu. In our case the menu was a "modern" style dropdownmenu with additional texts to describe each menu item. So when creating a landing page for the keyword "Malmo" texts about the other pages was actually located above the actual text about the keyword "Malmo".
You can see an example here:
http://www.meresverige.dk/rejser/malmo
What we did to solve the problem, and to also make a better user experience, was to load only the first level in the menu at loadtime, then fill in the actual dropdown with a simple AJAX call. This way the actual keyword content comes higher up on the page, and the landing page is not "poluted" with other keywords and texts from the menu.
Over and out

H1 means "look at me" no matter where it is.
However it looks kindof strange to have it above the menu anyway.
I would say most of the sites are placing the h1 under the menu but if your site, from a user perspective (usability), can accomodate it above then go for it Although I doubt it will give your on page SEO value more weight.

First thing to focus on is the user experience as everything is secondary. Prominence and H1 are factors in SEO, but are not weighed as high as they once were.
Typically a heading would be under a menu, and I would stick to this.

Why is pagination SEO such a mystery in 2021?
Hi folks. I would like to discuss pagination. I use WordPress (Genesis, specifically). I ran my site through a site scan and it flagged an error which told me that my blog was producing duplicate meta descriptions because the blog is paginated - the same meta description from the blog page is being used on Page 2, Page 3 etc. I looked into this and the Internet is awash with many other people scratching around for a solution. My understanding is that using a canonical link on the first page is not a good idea, because it says to Google that only Page 1 of the blog is important. I also read an article that states Google no longer reads the Rel=Prev/Next code that could be used to tell Google to ignore the issue. So, what's the solution? Do I even need one? As a side-thought, it seems to me that pagination is, well, pretty useless. I mean, if my blog has 20 pages and I've worked hard to create content, who is going to click through to anywhere near page 20? Nobody. There has to be a smarter way for people on-site to access content. I would love your thoughts on all of this. Cheers.

Image upload SEO tips?
Is there anything I can do to my images other than naming them correctly to have with SEO? Size? File type? Maybe adding text on top of them to pick up OCR? Thank you,

SEO Strategy help
Hi, I run a B2B 3rd party retail ecommerce site and I am kind of stuck on how to implement my SEO strategy.
Intermediate & Advanced SEO | | steve45058
So I learned from AdWords data that the best converting words to my site is the (Brand name, Model Number). Many of my B2B customers already know what they want/are looking for. Now this is all fine and dandy for adwords, but I don't really know how to implement this strategy on the SEO side. I do rank decent for some of these product keywords, but 99% of them I do not (which confuses me because some of the brands I rank high for are the more popular brands eg. more competition.) When I do keyword research on SEMRush or another site, it tells me that the competition for this type of keyword strategy is extremely high. Any Help, Advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!1 -
Is Snip.ly bad for SEO?
Hi, I'm using the software snip.ly, which allows me to add call to action into content I publish through social media. It's really powerful but I'm wondering how it can affect my SEO? Snip.ly now appears into my link report and its spam score is only 2, which is good. However I'm afraid that in the long term, it can be bad: links are created manually by the webmarketer Topics of this website are infinite the ancor is the same Your thoughts?..

Seo Booster Pro WP Plugin
Hi guys, We used this plugin with good results in the past - http://cleverplugins.com/shop/seo-booster-pro/. Basically, the plugin checks the incoming traffic and when it sees traffic from Google evaluates the SERP where it's coming from. If the keyword was placed on the second page, it automatically ads a link in the sidebar pointing to the article page. The anchor of the link is the actual keyword. This way, the link gets a bit of extra juice and most of the times it gets bumped to the first page. We would like to use something similar to our ecom shops. We need to custom program it as it does not exist as a pre-made plugin. We have a concern though - one of the points of the last Google updates addressing link juice and authority manipulation. Please let me know if you use any related SEO technique (or even this plugin) and what are your thoughts on implementing a such tools on an ecomm site. Thanks in advance

Rotating Banner Ad Value?
Sorry if this has been discussed couldn't find a post about it. Was wondering the potential link value of a rotating banner link. Situation 1: A site that wants $50/CPM. Those impressions are random throughout the month and can be on any page within the site. Situation 2: A sidebar banner ad that rotates with other banners. Will these links be recognized and is there link value? Thanks

Breadcrumb Trail for SEO?
Due to the fact that we aren't in the #1 position, (dropped from #5 to page 2 - You have to love Devs and IT), our heads have hired a SEO Audit/Consultant company to review everything we are doing. I would like to post some of the things they are telling us to do, in which I don't 100% agree with and would like some other professional feedback. Especially since their site isn't marketed very well. http://www.trupanionpetinsurance.com Disclaimer: (this site was a complete nightmare when I started a year and a half ago. Yes, there are many issues that still need to be addressed.) Breadcrumb Trail They have asked us to implement a Breadcrumb trail on every page, where the final page is the only H1 Tag. Are breadcrumb trials important for SEO? (I know they are helpful for Users, but SEO) Are they important for Search Engines to track back for structure. Any thoughts about them? How to seo : two domain having exactly the same content
Target website in question is ikt.co.id,it is hosted in our server located in US, what I am going to do right now is create a new subdomain id.ikt.co.id that served EXACTLY the same content but it is hosted in our Indonesia server. Whenever people go to any page within ikt.co.id, it will detect their country, if they are from Indonesia, I will redirect them to our Indonesia server. Okay, from SEO point of view I know there are couple problems such as Content duplication, and perhaps there are more. I think to handle the content duplication I can cannonical all URL on id.ikt.co.id to the ikt.co.id version instead. The same thing for social sharing, all links shared will be the one from ikt.co.id, so all of those link juices go to ikt.co.id, and for good measure I can also set the robots.txt to tell them not to index id.ikt.co.id ... All sounded good to me, until the I became paranoid and start thinking "have I missed anything that might hurt my SERP" ? here is the question, did i miss something important, if i did could you please tell me what it is and if possible brought the solution you think might work into this discussion?? Again thanks a lot for your help 😃
