Is this appropriate?

Hello everyone!
I have a question whether we can use these types of images on our site without putting an 18 and over disclaimer.
http://www.onetouchcondoms.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/08/dreamstime_m_23674313-e1345035613207.jpg
http://www.onetouchcondoms.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/08/onetouch1.jpg
The site is for the next generation condom
In case we do need to put a disclaimer 18 and over, and technically the disclaimer page would become the home page with 2 links one to exit and one to enter site. However what about SEO wise would that make it a lot more difficult for us since the home page is not a content page anymore and a disclaimer page instead?
Any advice is greatly appreciated.
Thank you!

Hi Igor,
If you're getting HTML or CSS errors, correct those errors ESPECIALLY your HTML errors...
I don't want this post to point you in the wrong direction so it's important to note the following:
Don't customize your website for search engines, customize it to provide the best user experience on all used browsers
Search Engine spiders work mainly in this direction: Google spider -> Make pages primarily for users, not for search engines. Don't deceive your users which is commonly referred to as "cloaking."
Avoid tricks intended to improve search engine rankings. A good rule of thumb is whether you'd feel comfortable explaining what you've done to a website that competes with you. Another useful test is to ask, "Does this help my users? Would I do this if search engines didn't exist?"
If these errors are related to layout, you will not be affected since most crawlers look at your site as plain text without trying to render them.
Some SEO's would tell you that CSS doesn't really matter, I say we cannot be 100% sure so to be on the safe side try to fix any non-layout related errors.
Regards,
Jean

Hi Jean,
Thanks for the info. I installed the tool, and ran it on my site, I think we found a winner! My site came up with 290 errors... I ran a few other big sites and a lot of have some errors. How important SEO and performance wise are these errors? We are using wordpress with a purchased template... Since there are so many errors not even sure where to begin...

Hi Igor,
Trojan's case from the fast check that I did there are 68 css errors, Meta Description is pretty long 500 something and missing a lot of alt tags.
Durex: If you go to a page associated to a territory or country ( i tested: http://www.durex.com/en-CA/Pages/default.aspx), it has 19 css errors, 7 warnings. No Meta Description. They are still using Meta Keywords, and they have over 150 unique links on one page.
If you use google chrome, i suggest you use SEO Site Tools plugin, it is very useful for fast on page data. Here's the link:

Hi Kevin,
Thanks, I will certainly take a look!
-
Hi Jean,
Thanks for your reply! When you refer to errors on trojans and durex sites, are you referring to code (html/css) errors?
Thanks!
-
Thank you Donnie, that's a great suggestion!
-
Hi Igor,
I checked out the images and I agree with Kevin, I do not believe you need a disclaimer. As for your second question, here's what could be done:
if the pictures require a disclaimer, I suggest not using those pictures. Top 2 Condom Brands ( Trojan.ca and durex.com) are using any disclaimer, and if they don't i believe they already did their job researching on the matter.
PS: try to make the site with the least errors possible ( both durex and trojan's sites are full of errors :S Weird)
I hope I helped.
Cheers!
Jean

I will tackle the first question, IMHO I don't think these images warrant an 18 or over disclaimer. Considering the product, some may view this as over 18 though. I would see what the competitors are doing in your industry and go from there (do those firms have a disclaimer page, what type of images do they have & etc.)

You can make it without separating the pages using a jquery script pop up like this site: http://www.livingsocial.com/

Why has my website been removed from Bing?
I have a website that has recently been removed from Bing's index, but can't figure out why. The website isn't new, and it is indexed just fine on Google. These are the steps I've tried: The website is verified in Bing Webmaster Tools and successfully submitted the sitemap. I tested the URL to ensure that Bingbot is allowed to crawl the site I submitted URLs to Bing via the URL Submission tool There isn't a "noindex" on the site preventing it from being indexed When I do a URL Inspection, an error message comes up saying "The inspected URL is known to Bing but has some issues which are preventing us from serving it to our users. We recommend you to follow Bing Webmaster Guidelines." I contacted Bing to ask whether the website was removed in error, but received a reply that the website doesn't comply with Bing's quality guidelines, but they wouldn't go into detail as to which guidelines the website isn't meeting. The website URL is https://www.pardeehospital.org. Can anyone offer any advice or insight as to why Bing won't index our site? Thank you!

Why isn't our complete meta title showing up in the Google SERPS? (cut off half way)
We carry a product line, cutless bearings (for use on boats). For instance, we have one, called the Able, that has the following meta title (and searched by View Page Source to confirm): BOOT 1-3/8" x 2-3/8" x 5-1/2" Johnson Cutless Bearing | BOOT Cutlass However, if I search for it on on Google by part number or name (boot cutless bearing, boot cutlass bearing), the meta title comes back with whole first part chopped off, only showing this : "x 5-1/2" Johnson Cutless Bearing | BOOT Cutlass - Citimarine ..." Any idea why? Here's the url if it will hopefully help: https://citimarinestore.com/en/metallic-inches/156-boot-johnson-cutless-bearing-870352103.html All the products in the category are doing the same. Thanks!

Gradual traffic drop of personal finance website in the last three months
Dear All, I have personal finance website https://mymoneysouq.com and the traffic dropped by less than half of what is was before last three months. I am figuring out all the possible issues and doing everything that comes to our mind to improve the quality of our website. I tried the following before posting here:1. Tried contacting website owner which we think spam and add all such domains to our disavow list2. We found little duplicate content on sites like Quora, we made those answers down by reporting to Quora3. Reported to DMCA on 3 articles articles(partial) from our website.4. We are trying improving user experience5. Removed one of our page that shared by many people but our page was not indexed by Google.6. Checked and modified content if any our articles are having more keywords than what SEO experts recommend. 7. We are working on researching more and figuring our what else can might have gone wrong with our traffic.8. Working on improving EAT I attached our traffic drop graph. I believe this drop is not natural it happened because of some issue at our end and we are not able to figure out the exact reasons.Surprisingly another site with not so high quality content started ranking now in the top.I am here to get community members/experts help on this. I could provide you if you need any further details. Thanks a lot for your time. We really appreciate any tips that you can share with us.Q2S1tlK Q2S1tlK

Regret changing the URL structure, Would it be appropriate to change it back?
Hi Moz Community, We changed the URL structure 6 months ago for our new site, and we experienced a ranking drop since then. From my understanding, changing URL structure and using 301 redirects will lose link juice, more or less. We think the ranking drop is because of the loss of link juice, assuming other factors remain constant. Here are my questions: How do those link juice losses have an impact on our ranking? Would changing URL structure back to original version regain the lost link juice, with all the redirects done properly? Would it take a lot of efforts? Is it recommended to change it back? Thank you so much in advance. Any thoughts and opinions are appreciated! Best, Raymond

Is Using a Question, Answer Format Appropriate for a Blog? Is a 300 Word Micro Blog An SEO Plus?
My PR agency has suggested a question answer format be incorporated in my blog. They suggest a microblog with a single sentence question and an answer of about 300 words. My blog currently has about 35 posts. I would like to ramp up blog entries to about one or two per week of these "mini blog" posts. The format of the new blog begins as a question with the responses being paragraphs that do not use headings. My concerns are as follows: 1. No headings in an answer of 300 words will fail to provide Google with context regarding the content's meaning. Everything I have read about SEO suggests text be broken up in short sections and that it be divided by headings (preferably H2s). I very much like my agency's concept for a question answer format blog. It provides very practical info for visitors. How can I use it in a manner that supports SEO best practices? 2. According to a reputable SEO firm that has been assisting me, Google does not consider a blog post of less than 600 words to be superior quality. They told me that blog posts of 300 words, from an SEO purpose will not be a great helpful, that the content will not be rich enough to generate incoming links. Is this really the case? What if this abbreviated content is very well written and engaging? If so, is 300 words sufficient? From the visitor's perspective I am not sure they would have the patience to read 600 words when 300 words is more than than enough to answer these basic questions. From a PR perspective I think the shorter content in a question answer format is superior at least for my line of business (commercial real estate brokerage). 3. If 500-600 words is the minimum word count, and headings are necessary, what is the best way to execute a question and answer blog format? The purpose of this blog is to provide very useful info to my visitors while generating incoming links to that will boast my rankings. Thanks in advance for your feedback!!! Alan

Duplicate content on ecommerce sites
I just want to confirm something about duplicate content. On an eCommerce site, if the meta-titles, meta-descriptions and product descriptions are all unique, yet a big chunk at the bottom (featuring "why buy with us" etc) is copied across all product pages, would each page be penalised, or not indexed, for duplicate content? Does the whole page need to be a duplicate to be worried about this, or would this large chunk of text, bigger than the product description, have an effect on the page. If this would be a problem, what are some ways around it? Because the content is quite powerful, and is relavent to all products... Cheers,
