Rankings disappears for two days

We have noticed with 3 of my sites that rankings totally disappears for 2-3 days and then appear again on google 1st page.
Why does this happen?

That's interesting behavior. Are you able to tell us those sites at all? Are they related in any way? How new are they? Any more information about them can help us answer you a bit better. Thanks!

I agree that this can be what is termed a "Google dance" and it is very unnerving. I would take it seriously and began to examine your code to make sure it is SEO friendly, and that you have unique content, and continuing with link building to that page with your anchor text. It sort of need to "stabilize" and the best way to stabilize it is to make sure everything in the source code is correct and that you continue to link build from quality sites. Don't do anything "tricky" or funny, just try to get people to link to you as best as possible.

Hi Nitin, I think this is happened due any of the reasona below:
1. Most of the times this may happen due to the changing Google algorithms. However irrespective of that it is essential to post regular content for the respective keywords. There must be continue backlink or backlinks at regular intervals for your keywords. This is estremely essential for keeping the rankings intact. Dont stop working on the keywords after securing good rankings, otherwise the rank would fall down again.
2. This still happens to a few sites who are new. With new sites its known as the Google dance which is very common. As I said though, I still get it with sites that are over a year old. No one will every know for sure other than Google why this happens, but I guess we just have to get on with it.
3. It may be true that some times it happens of duplicate content, not user friendly and other reasons happen for disappear.
4. There are only two scenarios here. It's either your website is sandboxed or penalized by Google due to some unethical SEO practice or it could just be a mere Google Dance. Just wait 1-2 weeks. Your site should be back on track.

Website rankings drop significantly after moving to new hosting provider
My website - www.isacleanse.co.nz has dropped from being top10 rankings for all of my keywords to not even being in top 50 after just checking now. It used to be hosted on: www.1stdomains.nz

Keyword optimization when two keywords mean the same thing
How does one best go about optimizing a page, meta title, and meta description for two keyword when the two keywords mean the same thing (e.g. attorney vs. lawyer). It's awfully tedious, obnoxious, and spammy-looking to keep putting "attorney/lawyer," "attorney-lawyer," or "attorney or lawyer" into content, titles, and descriptions.

Will having two wordpress themes installed hurt seo?
We currently have 3 sites built on WordPress that have little to no blogging capabilities. Currently, all published posts show up on a /category page which does not resemble the traditional blog format and is not aesthetically pleasing. We would like to have a more traditional blog and are considering installing a second wordpress theme on the site which will strictly be used for /blog and all the posts. My question is will having the second WordPress installation on the sites hurt us in any way on the SEO front and if we go this way should we place the install in a subfolder or on a subdomain? Is there anything else we need to worry about with making this transition? Thank you in advance for the advice! Patrick

Does a Website Overlay Hurt Ranking?
We are looking into personalizing visits on our website. Rather than to write Tb of code on each page, we want to use a little line of Java script on the page, that would allow to place overlay on the site, depending on the visitor. Example: Change the home page picture when a returning visitor comes back on the website and show him/her a different picture bases upon the pages he/she visited prior. Would that overlay be caught by Google and would G have a problem with that? We all know about cloaking, but G does not penalize for heat mapping overlays, for example. Or not to my knowledge they don't. Thanks all for your personal insights! Peter

Server performance and loss of rankings
Hi all Wondering if anyone knows how much poor server performance is needed to affect your Google rankings. A few sites of mine were performing fine until about 11am today, since then the site traffic is down about 99% (eeek) at the same time the server was playing up with a server load about 40 - it's 12core, 64ram. I was having database issues at the time too. Surely Google doesn't work that fast in demoting sites for poor performance does it? If not need I need to ponder other reasons why i have no traffic anymore. Thanks, Carl

Usual time to index and rank a new site
Hi Just wondering if anyone knew how long it usually takes for a brand new site to get indexed and ranked? I launched a new site about 5 weeks ago. So far I have had 96,000 pages indexed but the majority haven't ranked particularly well or appeared. The ones that have ranked aren't ranking high even though they have better content than competitors sites... And my old domain. Do I just need to hang tight and wait till my domain authority improves? Is there anything I can do to speed up this process? cheers

Preserve Rankings When Switching to a New Site
Hello community! I have a quick question for you regarding preserving my SERPs once I switch a development site to replace the current production site. Basically, we are switching to a new CMS and will be featuring the same content, architectural layout, URL structure, etc. Again, the only difference is that it's going to be on a new CMS. Upon switching to the new version of the site, what would be the best strategy for making sure we preserve our rankings for content already ranking highly within the search engines? Likewise, is there anything additional we may be able to do right-off-the-bat in order to assist content that may not be ranking highly in the SERPs, rank more highly?

Site Ranks on Page 1 - Would launching new site hurt that
Hello, I currently have a website ranking in the top 7 for my main keyword. The website was built in 2004 and is definitely outdated, yet still ranks very high and brings in business. If i launched a new site on this domain, what would happen to my rankings? Would they drop? would they rise? If i don't launch the new site, will this site eventually drop due to being old and outdated? Any advice would be helpful...
