My Google Webmaster Search Queries are 0??!!
-
For the past 2 days Google Webmaster has recorded 0 search queries to my site, but traffic seems stable.
Any ideas about why this is happening and what I should do about it?
Or is it a Google glitch I should not be concerned about (hoping for this option)

Just to make sure we're talking about the same thing, Sara...
Are you looking at the Search Engine Optimization section of your Google Analytics? (i.e. that's been linked to your Webmaster Tools account?)
If so, it's been that way for a long time and you may be just now noticing it.
In your Webmaster Tools account itself, you'll notice that the results in the Search Queries section only list results up until 2 days ago. e.g. mine currently only show stats up to Aug 30. It's always been like that since GWT started reporting queries.
If, on the other hand, you're seeing data up to Aug 30 but the 29th and 30th show zero visits, then you may in fact have a glitch worth posting to the webmaster forum
Hope that makes it a little clearer?

Thanks! your responses make me fee much better!
Still seems weird that it is just the past 2 days though and not something I have ever seen before.

Sara, Google Webmaster Tools data is always 2 days behind. Therefore you'll see zeros for traffic for the most recent two days. This is especially noticeable if you're looking at the Search Engine Optimization section of Google Analytics. Seeing that spark line bottom out will sure put a scare into ya the first time you see it.
Nothing to worry about, and nothing that can be done about it - just a quirk of the way Webmaster Tools reports its data.
(If you want to prove this to yourself, just segment your traffic for organic search - you'll see that there have been only normal fluctuations for the last couple of days, which would be impossible if in fact you had appeared for no search queries)

Has to be a temporary data glitch. If not, you might want to post a message in the google webmast community forum.

How To Stop Google's "Fetch & Render" From Showing Up In Google Analytics
Hi all, Within Google's "Fetch & Render" (found in Google Search Console) is the ability to index certain pages from my website on-demand. Unfortunately, every time I ask Google to index a page, it registers as a bounce in Google Analytics. Also, if it means anything, my website (www.knowtro.com) is a single-page application, functioning similarly to Google. If you guys know of any solution to this problem, please help! I originally thought that Google would know to block its own Fetch & Render crawler from Google Analytics but that doesn't seem to be the case. Thanks, Austin

Homepage disappeared from Google's index
The Title says it all..I just discovered that the Homepage is not in Google's index anymore. Homepage rankings have plummeted, our top keywords are nowhere to be found but most of keywords from deeper pages have dropped just one or two places. We just change the website design and some content but I strongly believe this is definitely something else due to the fact that it all happened so fast! There is one thing that I have to mention that might have been caused all this..our email client (Outlook) is using a lot of resources from our server and for the last couple of days the website was down quite a lot.

What's the final word on Image Search tracking in Google Analytics?
Sorry if this has been answered but I can't seem to get a straight answer to my questions by searching around. How is traffic referred by Google Images counted in Google Analytics? I know it used to be referral traffic from google.com/imgres. A lot of things I have read say that it should all be under google/organic now, but my site still gets referral traffic from google.com/imgres, so that can't be. However I also get traffic as google/organic that I am pretty sure is from image search, because we don't rank for the keyword normally, but we do for image search. What's the deal? How is traffic from an embedded image in a regular result page counted? How can I segment my image search traffic better? It would be great to see image search traffic as it's own medium. I found a script here -- http://jrom.net/google-images-in-google-analytics -- that looks promising, has anyone used it or can recommend another way? I haven't used the GA API very much so I want to make sure the script is kosher and won't screw up my numbers.

Google is just plain confusing now
I know, many people are up in arms with Google with their very frequent recent changes. I guess some of this is good - but at times I am also warming to the opinion that they are just losing the plot. To illustrate my point - check this ranking history for a keyword: Toyota South Africa I'm not sure how this image will display - but for no obvious apparent reason, from 02/10 - we were ranked 5, and now on 9/10 dropped right down to 44. I mean how is on supposed to explain, and rectify this when Google just keeps on changing the playing fields? shrug Ranking.png

Easiest way to get out of Google local results?
Odd one this, but what's the easiest way to remove a website from the Google local listings? Would removing all the Google map listings do the job? A client of ours is suffering massively since the Google update in the middle of last month. Previously they would appear no1 or no2 in the local results and normally 1 or 2 in the organic results. However, since the middle of last month any time they rank on the first page for a local result, their organic result has dropped massively to at least page 4. If I set my location as something different in google, say 100 miles away, they then rank well for the organic listings (obviously not appearing for local searches). When I change it back to my current location the organic listing is gone and they are back to ranking for the local. Since the middle of July the traffic from search engines has dropped about 65%. All the organic rankings remain as strong as ever just not in the areas where they want to get customers from!! The idea is to remove the local listing and get the organics reranking as the ctr on those is much much higher. On a side note, anyone else notice very poor ctr on google local listings? Maybe users feel they are adverts thanks

Implications of Google discontinuing Website Optimizer
Hi Guys, As most of you probably know, Google is discontinuing Website Optimizer and introducing Experiments within Google Analytics. However, doesn't this mean that now, every site you want to run an experiment for has to be using Google Analytics? This is possibly one of the motivations for them making the change I guess? I also find it inconvenient that every 'experiment' now has to be based on improving a pre-defined goal in Google Analytics. This means that for a lot of situations we'll be creating goals just for the experiment and the clients actual goal conversions will appear quite inflated. I guess we'll just have to filter the new 'goals' out from the actual goals.

Where are google analytics stats for iphone4
hi We were looking at the Google Analytics for one of our sites and noticed that there were NO pageviews from device=iphone and resolution=640x960 in the report. Given that iphone4 is supposed to be 640x960, and would be the most popular device (at least in our offices and everyone I know), it seems wierd. I sorted the Mobile Devices report by device and resolution to see what was available. The first 160 results were all device=not set. Finally got to device=iPhone and there were three entries: resolution 0x0 had 11 views resolution 320x396 had 45 views resolution 320x480 had 3,944 views. Hopefully all iphone4 users havent been classified as not set. Or is it possible that iphone4s claim to be 320x480 in browsers, as per http://www.alistapart.com/articles/a-pixel-identity-crisis/ Even worse, if I look at the Samsung Galaxy S II (myown phone), there are over 30 screen resolution combinations. Does anyone have anything to shed on this? I asked about it on the google analytics twitter account last week but havent had a response. Are there other analytics solutions that would distinguish between the iphones? Warning - this is a link to a large image, with the not set stats at the top. 6Sjji
