Minimum Title Tag Length

Hello everyone,
I'm curious here, what is the minimum length a Title Tag should be so it doesn't receive the "Title Element Too Short" error here on SEOMoz?

Agreed. Always do what is best for the user. Sometime people stuff their title tags to get most "bang for the buck" and often times this can hurt them. I always look at the title as a cta in the organics and try to make them compelling and unique and don't care that much about min. length.

I wouldn't worry overly about chasing A grades on the on-page tool here. The goal isn't to please seomoz! I use some VERY short titles very effectively. The too short warning is really about possible missed opportunity. Go with what makes sense, but use the "too short" warning as a flag to look at whether it is the best title to use.

We just used a different CMS this time around and for certain pages it just grabbed the product name (e.g. "Mary") as the page title, so a bunch of those errors came up. I will increase their lengths of course, just wanted to know what the SEOMoz software believed to be the minimum.

We are using below 70 char because Google displays only below 70 char title so if you want to display your whole title in perfect range then you have to use 68 char. In my site i am using 70 to 80 char title and i am did not notice any error.

No title tag from my experience would be below 68 characters including spaces,
If you do a title tag between 70-80 characters including spaces it will be too long and be cut off.

shrugs Never had that issue, I say go over at least 25 charters but under 70

Ignore those errors. As long as the title tag isn't empty and aren't the same on multiple pages of the site, you're fine in regards to how short the tag is.
That said, I'm not sure what length triggers the error for SEOMoz.

Hi, Title tag should be around 70 or 80 char. If you make you title withing that range then you will not receive that error, but every page title not necessary to have 70 char long. Can you give me your title which receive too short error? because some static page like about us and contact us does not have too long titles. Read this link it will gives you more clear idea about title tag length.

Difference in using dividers in TITLE TAG
Hi everyone, i know that dividers in title or even title tag doesnt have much of an impact on better rankings. I had great rankings for many keywords, not using dividers or using only one divider. However for better reading comprehension and usability, and also aesthetics i started to use the pipe as my main divider and other secondary dividers. I saw many pages drop in rankings vs other less competent and with less content pages. My format was as follows: Product Brand | Product description - Additional info or local info ie. Fiber Glass MBI | Insulation Batts for Home and Commercial use - Acoustic and Thermal Insulation I changed the format for a handful of pages, and saw immediate results on rankings and traffic on those pages. Product Brand with Product Description - Additional Info ie. Fiber Glass MBI Insulation Batts for Commercial use - Acoustic and Thermal Insulation. Does it sound like something i should implement page wide. I personally like the aesthetics of the pipe as it gives a cleaner look, but the better rankings on the changed pages with using only one divider makes me think. Duplicate title tag

/extra-services/car-pick-up-service-146.html (1) /extra-services/transportation--car-rails--146.html (2) According to my sitemap the first URL is right (1). But the second URL is wrong, I don't know it occur here.0 -
H1 Tags on Volusion Product Pages
So I'm working with a client who has no heading tags on his site and I'm wondering if there is an ideal method to implementing these on the product pages specifically, as the wording I ideally want to specify is is the product title, which i can't really code with an H1. Has anyone run into this issue? If so, what was your solution? Also, how vital are these heading tags on the product pages, anyways? If the Volusion SEO expert could chime in, that would be much appreciated. Thanks everyone!

Multiple Cities in Title Tag
My question is how to avoid having a spammy title. Currently I'm working on a project where a business serves four cities, but two of them are out of its home state. I'm trying to create a title tag that is appealing to the eyes, and meets what I need it to do at the same time. I was wondering what everyone though of this sample Brand X Dealer Serving Newark, DE; New Castle, DE; Glens Mills, PA; and Springfield, PA I know that too much repetition can be a bad thing, but this might not be a big deal since they are separate instances. tagged as duplicate content?
Hello folks, I'm new to SEOmoz . I was looking at our Crawl Diagnostics and found that some of our blog posts that have been commented on were tagged as duplicate content. To enter keyword meta tags or to not enter keyword meta tags?
I've been doing SEO for awhile, but new to SEOMoz. I'm surprised that SEOMoz does not recommend keyword meta tags. I didn't enter them for the longest time because I know Google doesn't care about them. However, I did read that other search engines DO use them. And therefore that is why you should have them. I teach my customers about SEO, and I know it would be much easier for them not to enter or worry about the keyword meta tags. However, I would love to hear opinions here. And to Bing/Yahoo put any weight into them or is it only really small search engines? Thanks! Hilary

Changing of title page and description
Can I ask how long after changing the Title and Description tags on a website do people have to wait to see these changes reflected in Google? I changed a site of mine a couple of weeks back, pinged the site to google and had well over 5,000 googlebots to the page (not a result of pinging, I get that anyway), yet Google continues to display the old listing. Any secret techniques to speeding this up? Thanks

Maximum length of a URL for good SEO?
Hi there, We have a content database as part of our site and I noticed that the way the database is loaded with new content, it means that the URL’s for these pages are really long, around 100 characters or sometimes more http://www.xxxyy.org/knowledge-base/documents/word1-word2-word3-word4-word5-word6-word7-word8 Is there a suggted maximum character length for a URL? Kind of like for title tag where I max out at 69… Should I truncate the URL’s or at least reduce the numbers of words in them to something less spammy? Does that make a difference? Thanks!
