How to push negative product review sites down.
-
Hi Guys,
One of my respected clients have some issues with negative product review sites coming up when they search their brand name on google. So for an exmaple, when I search for Company Name on google, the 3rd and 4th results are angry customer reviews. This is harming my clients brand so bad.
My questions are,
1. What should I do to push these results down. I am happy to do pretty much ANYTHING to push these sites down.
2. I'm also thinking of doing a blog for this client for SEO purposes and wondering the pros and cons of having the blog as a subdomain vs subfolder. Which will help me to again, push the negative site links down.
Thanks

Thanks dan. True. Im gonna dig into social media.

Thanks Stacey. I should start with Social media sites. Good point you got there. And Im gonna get the marketing department to come up with some valuable press releases. Thanks again.

Sounds easier said than done but look at the reviews and try and build from them. Interact with the people who write the reviews and tell them you are looking to improve and you have done XY and Z to put things right.
It doesn't necessarily help get them moved down the rankings but if people click onto them they will see that you are being proactive about negative reviews and trying to build and learn from them and may give potential customers who look at these reviews a different mindset.

You should also grow your social media activity. Sites like Twitter, YouTube, Google+, Facebook and others will often have a higher authority than review sites. If you build your community up then these sites will often appear high on the results page when branded searches are performed. This will in turn push the negative reviews down.
Plus, it will help build up your online brand. Win-Win, right?

Hi There,
I have work on a lot of reputation management for my clients and negative reviews is an on-going battle. There are a few things you can do to improve things for your client.
The quickest and easiest way is to published fresh, relevant and current news about the brand. If you are distributing press releases or news stories through the right channels you will get great coverage. If possible ty to avoid the free publishing sites as many of them are are associated with other negative attributes. If you have a budget to work with I would recommend PRWeb, Marketwire or 24/7PressRelease wire.
I have successfully pushed negative reviews off page 1 in Google by using well writen, relevant and news-worthy press releases.
I have also had some good results with Google+, by linking google plus into the brands exposure Google will give a high ranking position for the Google+ brand page and even display images. I have found this diverts people away from negative reviews.
Has your client responded to the negative review? Offered a refund, apologised etc etc. Often a reviewer will remove the complaint etc if handled in the right way
Also, depending on your location (and local laws) some review sites will amend the title tag that shows up in a Google result to make is less 'nasty' to avoid a legal battle with the brand.
There are a lot of things that can assist with negative reviews - hope you find some of the above helpful

How do I find out which pages are being indexed on my site and which are not?
Hi, I doing my first technical audit on my site. I am learning how to do an audit as i go and am a lost. I know some page won't be indexed but how do I: 1. Check the site for all pages, both indexed and not indexed 2. Run a report to show indexed pages only (i am presuming i can do this via screaming Frog or webmaster tool) 3. I can do a comparison between the two list and work out which pages are not being indexed. I'll then need to figure out way. I'll cross this bridge once i get to it Thanks Ben

Crawl diagnostics up to date after Magento ecommerce site crawl?
Howdy Mozzers, I have a Magento ecommerce website and I was wondering if the data (errors/warnings) from the Crawl diagnostics are up to date. My Magento website has 2.439 errors, mainly 1.325 duplicate page content and 1.111 duplicate page title issues. I already implemented the Yoast meta data plugin that should fix these issues, however I still see there errors appearing in the crawl diagnostics, but when going to the mentioned URL in the crawl diagnostics for e.g.: http://domain.com/babyroom/productname.html?dir=desc&targetaudience=64&order=name and checking the source code and searching for 'canonical' I do see: http://domain.com/babyroom/productname.html" />. Even I checked the google serp for url: http://domain.com/babyroom/productname.html?dir=desc&targetaudience=64&order=name and I couldn't find the url indexed in Google. So it basically means the Yoast meta plugin actually worked. So what I was wondering is why I still see the error counted in the crawl diagnostics? My goal is to remove all the errors and bring it all to zero in the crawl diagnostics. And now I am still struggling with the "overly-dynamic URL" (1.025) and "too many on-page links" (9.000+) I want to measure whether I can bring the warnings down after implementing an AJAX-based layered navigation. But if it's not updating it here crawl diagnostics I have no idea how to measure the success of eliminating the warnings. Thanks for reading and hopefully you all can give me some feedback.

How can a site not indexed on google still have 40+ Page Authority on OpenSiteExplorer?
Hey guys, I was revisiting the backlinks to my site and found a few that were not indexed on Google anymore. I confirmed this by typing site:"SiteAddress" in google and it retuned 0 result. Yet when i searched the same site on OSE (OpenSiteExplorer) yielded me a PA of over 40. I used to research sites on OSE to see if they are worth pursuing for a backlink but i am second guessing this because of this recent finding. Can someone please shed some light on this? Thanks!

Hosting Reviews and Suggestions
I have been going round in circles trying to find a Hostings company with a good reputation and service etc... For ever one you find you find reviews sayings its shocking... I was planning to take a straw poll using the vote up and down function to try and spot good ones. I will add the ones I know about or use/tried. If you like just vote up. Any more suggestions for companies please add them with your views. Try and reply to the right hostings companies with reviews. Not sure if this is suitable for SEOMoz I apologise if this is not and offends anyone.

Yahoo Site Explorer died. Does DA and PA Seomoz parameters have all it takes to replace YSE?
We're trying to simplify our link analysis job when acquiring a new external link. We're wondering to know if Domain Authority Seomoz parameter is all what we need to take a decision. Does DA Seomoz parameter takes into consideration 'domain age', 'alexa ranking', 'dmoz links', indexed pages on google', and 'inbound links vs outbound links'?
