Using the same Google Analytics account for two sites
-
I have a friend who is concerned that his competition is trying something funny to show high traffic. The competition has two sites using the same GA tracking code. What impact would this have on his actual traffic.
One site has high traffic 7500 daily
the other site has 150 daily but gaining momentum

I don't know but I had a look at your website and I think the background is begging for a seamless Ice cube background like this one...
http://www.commentnation.com/background.php?MyFile=seamless_ice_cubes.php&ID=C113.php
Like your site is a fresh catch of tasty Salmon adorned by Ice cubes in a freezer keeping it fresh and ready to consume....well, maybe, but seriously I think it would look pretty cool.

Hmm, I don't think SEMRush uses Google Analytics data to come up with a website's traffic count since they don't have access to the GA account either. If you'd like me to investigate further and don't want to reveal the sites publicly, feel free to PM me the URLs in question and I can give you a more specific answer.

Well from what he has told me he uses Semrush to get the traffic count. He plugs his URL next to his competitions and was curious on how the other site is doing so much better. He looked at the source code and google the GA account to find that he had two sites using it.

Bit confused as well. Each site should have a unique analytic codes. If you competition doesn't, who care as it doesn't help him.
-
I'm not sure if I understand this correctly but I'll give it a shot. You say the competition is using the same GA account on two sites, but how does your friend know what the competition's traffic numbers are? Does he have access to their Google Analytics account? And where does the competition "show its high traffic"?
Google Analytics simply tracks how many visits are coming to a website(s) and it doesn't have anything to do with impacting any actual traffic. One way to see if the competition is fudging its traffic numbers by saying all of the GA visits are for one site only when the traffic is really for two websites, then tell them to provide a GA report showing that all of the visitors are using the same Hostname.
You can see the Hostname by going into Google Analytics and clicking on Custom Reporting. Choose "Unique Visitors" as the metric and "Hostname" as the dimension.

Is it bad for international SEO to redirect CcTLDs and install Google website translator plugin to the primary domain (UK)?
We've bought lots of country extensions, e.g. .es, .fr, .in, .me, etc. Rather than employing translators, will it be acceptable for SEO to install the google translate plugin to the site, and 301 redirect the country extensions to the .com address?

G is for Google
So if you haven't heard already - Larry Page released a statement regarding the newly founded company: Alphabet. Crazy to think that the name hadn't even been used before for one but most importantly throughout his write up - there doesn't seem to be much clarity on what it is going to accomplish. What are your ideas/thoughts moz heads? https://abc.xyz/ - check it out. /Chenzo

Google Keyword Tool is Being Sunsetted
I was reading this article http://adwords.blogspot.de/2013/05/introducing-keyword-planner-combining.html that says that Google is going to be sunsetting it's popular keyword tool. As an SEO specialist, I use this tool daily, so I'm concerned about it's impact on my keyword research efforts. I reviewed the keyword planner (albeit quite quickly) and it doesn't seem to work as efficiently for SEO keyword research. I'm curious to get others thoughts on the following: The new keyword planner tool Will the new keyword planner tool be effective for SEO keyword research Are there other tools that you've used that have provided good keyword research data (and are they free or paid)

Will google believe my website has plagiarised if I publish news that is published on a newswire?
I use newswires to publish press releases or articles for clients. Almost all are published on one site such as PRWeb and picked up by newspapers/publishers. Each of these pieces reference the source as PRWeb (for example). Each press release is then added to the company website. Do I run the risk of search engines believing this to be plagiarised if not referenced to the 'original source' being PR Web? Thanks

Google Places Citation Differences
Hi All... I know its important to get citations the same in terms of company name, address, phone number and URL but how dissimilar can they be before this causes problems with Google Places? One of my clients has citations with very minor differences to the correct address i.e.: 2a such and such a road when it should be: 2 such and such a road I cannot see duplicate listing for the company. Anyone got any ideas / experience of this? I don't want to suggest changing them all if its not nessasary? Cheers in advance. Justin

Print Advertisement Visit Tracking through Analytics
We put 2 different classified advertisements in printed publications and would like to track the visits to our website from each of the ads. For the ads, we used custom pages: www.domain.com/ad1
SERP Trends | | Motava
www.domain.com/ad2 We used a 301 redirect from these URLs to the homepage but it didn't record the visits to the custom URLs in google analytics and clicky (other analytics software). How do we set this up?0
