Seo for a photographer's website
-
Hello all,
I am a big fan of this site & of SEO. I am a photographer & I do my own SEO (horribly, I must admit), my questions is how to I go about attracting natural links when so much of my content image of weddings & family portraits?
How I do get good websites or blogs interested in about my website?

Hi Kristopher,
I went and checked out your site. It's very pretty. I think the picture of you and your son is adorable! Okay, so here's my advice:
Right now, in your blog, there are lots of great photos. To me, your blog is looking more like a portfolio than a blog (not a criticism, just an observation). What if you started writing posts about photography that would appeal to other photographers? I know that you aren't necessarily wanting other photographers as "customers" but if your advice is valuable and unique, it would attract inbound links. Lots of inbound links from other photographers would set you up as an authority. The stronger your authority the higher you rank. The higer you rank, the more traffic you will get. That new traffic, once they see that you have an authoritative and active blog (even if they aren't photographers and don't understand a word), they will be more likely to choose you for their project.
Also, I'm guessing the photography world is pretty small. I bet if you asked someone influential to write a guest post for you, they'd probably do it.
I'm thinking you're pretty passionate about photography. The great thing about that is you will never run out of ideas to write about.
I hope this helps!
Dana

Gosh, I think you're in a great position to attract links. Your business is related to something people are passionate about -- weddings and family. People talk about that stuff online all the time.
If you've been reading the SEOmoz blog and other SEO blogs, you've probably encountered the term "content marketing." That's where you create interesting, compelling content and get it in front of people who might want to link to it, share it, and discuss it. In your case, you can write about the interesting, compelling things you're an expert on -- weddings, family, and photography. I think this is a great overview of how you might plan and execute a six-month content marketing initiative: The Noob Guide to Link Building.

Hi Dana, I am trying to attract natural links for my photography website. I have just about run the directly thing in to the ground. I have had great success with my site over the past 4 years but recently I switched to a new html5 site & I took a hit in rankings for certain search results.

I think the great thing about photography is that you're generally creating share-worthy content. If you're producing some really cool photos, people will take interest.
A couple quick tips for you would be to:
-
Make sure you're using Facebook, Pinterest & Google+ effectively. These are all social networks where posts with visual appeal are rewarded. Build a network of fans and show them what you've got.
-
There are a number of photography "directories" around. Be sure to add your site and/or at least some of your photography to them to peak people's interest.
-
Enter photography contests. A perfect photo could potentially lead to a lot of business for you and a lot of interest in your work.
Remember, your industry is a competitive one. You really need to make sure you've honed your skills and are producing photos that are absolute quality. Do that, and people will share.

Hi Kristopher. I am a big fan of this site too
When you say "how do I go about attracting natural" I am not sure what you mean. Do you mean "How do I go about attracting organic (natural) search results?" or do you mean "how do I attract search traffic that's more interested in nature photography?"
Answer that and then I feel like I can tailor my advice appropriately.

Help! Someone's inserted my link in the footer of another site!
There's a site in my industry where (I'm guessing on flawed SEO advice) all of their pages contain footer links to rival sites – with each page containing a different set of links. One page has a link to my site, which I've just found out from GWT as the link now produces a 404.

Should I
a) ignore it?
b) ask them to replace it with a live link from my site (their site's highly relevant to mine)? or
c) ask them to remove it altogether as no-one wants footer links?0 -

SEO questions
Hi SEOmoz Friends, good day! I am hoping we could these following questions: Why we had 1000+ errors; consist of diff errors (page duplicate title, missing meta desc, too many links, title element too long,404 errors, redirect errors) while raven tools have only 100+ errors which is meta desc error Are those 1000+ errors from moztool are really significant? How to fix each of the error and what will be the result? we tried some way Meta Desc - provided meta desc 404 error - provide live links dup page title - change the other page's title - will it affect the seo ranking of the page? we believe its yes, so is it necessry to fix the error? title element too long - we understand that some of the pages have too long title, to fix the error we need to change the title to shorter ones, but we are afraid if it will affect the seo ranking, just like the previous q too many links - we understand that these links are from the submission we made previously, how will we fix this error? Whats the recommended number of blog posts per page? Hoping to get answers from the experts! Thanks

Links from Real Estate Websites Link Page, Do or Don't?
It seems that real estate sites have at times been under heavier scrutiny from the search engines. But real estate agents get networking, which makes acquiring those links a little bit easier. Plus with localization of search, I think real estate sites may give off a good GEO scent. Should SEO's go for links from real estate websites? Does a reciprocal link devalue said links?

Best SEO when you have a lot of clients
So I'm in a bit of an interesting situation. I want to do great SEO for all my clients, but I currently manage 18, each demanding 10 - 20 hours per month. Is anyone out there able to manage a ton of clients and keep them all happy? What are the most effective strategies you use? I'm currently focusing almost exclusively on copywriting for all of them, simply because I don't feel like I have time to effectively test different strategies. Anyone have any advice?

Multiple KW's , on-page and anchor text
Hello, For each page on my site, I've targeted one primary keyword and three to four secondary keywords. All of the keywords variants are tightly themed. With some on-page, I've ranked page two or three for all of the keywords and many are starting to convert based on Analytics data. Each page scores an "A" using the SEOmoz KW targeting tool for the "primary keyword only". For secondary keywords, I've only included words but not the complete keyword. For example, if the primary keyword is "blue green widgets" and the secondary keyword is "get blue green widgets", I've included the word "get" throughout the copy to target the secondary keyword. My questions are... Should I include each secondary keyword once in the copy and not just the word "get" for example? Just wondering if there is a better approach to target all of the keywords via on-page. When getting links to each page, how would you vary the anchor text to target all of the keywords, primary and secondary? Thanks!
