Schema markup for video vs. Authorship: How will the SERP look?
-
All,
Would love to hear from the community on the issue of 2 rich snippets appearing on the same page, will one take precedence in the SERP?
For example, I am working with a client who has authorship markup on his homepage, we are going to add to that schema markup for an introductory video. Will the video snippet or authorship snippet display? Will both display?

That's an interesting question: have you created and published a page and then run it through the Rich Snippet / Structured Data Testing tool? http://www.google.com/webmasters/tools/richsnippets
(Also, see: http://googlewebmastercentral.blogspot.com/2012/10/rich-snippets-guidelines.html )
Seems to me that the tool would show you which snippet Google is likely to showcase. If you've created a blog post with an embedded video, I think it is likely that the Author snippet will be visible in Web SERPs; the byline + author avatar. The Video snippet would appear in Video SERPs without that byline.

Disallowing URL Parameters vs. Canonicalizing
Hi all, I have a client that has a unique search setup. So they have Region pages (/state/city). We want these indexed and are using self-referential canonicals. They also have a search function that emulates the look of the Region pages. When you search for, say, Los Angeles, the URL changes to _/search/los+angeles _and looks exactly like /ca/los-angeles. These search URLs can also have parameters (/search/los+angeles?age=over-2&time[]=part-time), which we obviously don't want indexed. Right now my concern is how best to ensure the /search pages don't get indexed and we don't get hit with duplicate content penalties. The options are this: Self-referential canonicals for the Region pages, and disallow everything after the second slash in /search/ (so the main search page is indexed) Self-referential canonicals for the Region pages, and write a rule that automatically canonicalizes all other search pages to /search. Potential Concern: /search/ URLs are created even with misspellings. Thanks!

Breadcrumb Trail Markup
I've implemented breadcrumb trail markup on my site and I wanted to check that it's implemented correctly. Is it true that the breadcrumb does not link to the current page as this would be redundant, so it only links to 'ancestor' pages? (You can see for example on this page that the breadcrumb links to two levels below the home page): http://www.cobaltrecruitment.com/sectors/construction-property-engineering/real-estate-general-practice So basically breadcrumb trail should have a simple link for each level (except for the current page). Thanks,

Some Old date showing in SERP
I see some old date Jan 21 2013 showing up for some categories in Google search results. These are category pages and I do not see the date in view source. This is not a wordpress site or a blog page. We keep changing this page by removing/adding items so it is not outdated.

Schema markup
Hi, I'd love to use schema markup, but I don't think there is one for the type of products we sell (mortgages). Does anyone know of a way of using schema markup for a page like this: https://www.turnkeymortgages.co.uk/mortgage/mortgage-rates/ The regulator for mortgages (FCA) in the UK has rules about how products are displayed, we have to show all the information in the table (see the link), and the compliance text (your home will be repossessed....) with every product. This is why I haven't tried to 'cobble' something together from the existing markup available - I can't fall foul of the regulator (or be misleading to customers). Anyone have any thoughts on this? Or, should I just wait until Schema come up with a markup suitable for such products.

Another http vs https Question?
Is it better to keep the Transaction/ Payment pages on a commercial website as the only secure ones (https) and remainder of website as http? Or is it better to have all the commercial website as secure (https)?

SERP data went away??
As of a day ago, the SERPs in Google are showing our listing with NO meta description at all and the incorrect title. Plus the Title is varying based on the keywords searched. Info: Something I just had done was have the multiple versions of their home page (duplicate content, about 40 URLs or so) 301 redirected the the appropriate place. I think they accidentally did 302s. Anyone seen this before? Thanks

How do I put something below description in the SERPs of Google?
How do I put something below description, the search box within the website, and map in SERPs of Google? For example, when I enter ‘mit’ as the keyword in Google, the description of MIT is shown more. Many thanks in advance.
