Benefits of reducing on page links
-
This is more of a discussion point.
What would be the measurable results of reducing the number of on page links, specifically on a home page, but let's assume by way of a large navigation menu most of the pages have a lot of links"
For instance, would any of the stats on the MozBar be affected (let's start with the home page). Would the Page Authority or MozRank change at all, perhaps because there is less "juice" flowing out of the home page?
Thanks!

Thanks for the thoughts.

This is just personal opinion and kind of speculative... (you know there is a lot of "art" in SEO...
I think that the authority of your site or lack of authority will have a much greater impact upon the rankings of your individual pages than the number of links on your homepage or any other page for that matter.
So, I add as many links as I think will be valuable to my visitors.
I think that if you have a large info site, having a homepage like the Los Angeles Times will do more to entice your visitors to engage your site than a homepage that tries to funnel all of your PageRank into a few trophy pages. The fact that most nascent sites get almost all of their traffic from longtail queries supports this idea in my opinion.
Done in an enticing way, a lot of links to internal pages seems to engage more visitors, lead to more sales and bring in more traffic on all of the sites that I manage.
I want my visitors to say... "Wow! They have a lot of great stuff on this site."
I spend lots of time trying to give my visitors more relevant and attractive options and zero time trying to funnel pagerank by reducing on-page linkage.
Don't let an obsession with SEO squeeze the sex appeal out of your site.
(Don't follow this idea if your site is nothing but a bunch of crappy pages... either time to get busy or time to pack it in.... your days are numbered.)

by reducing the amount of homepage links it would allow more juice to flow to pages you leave so you should see better stats and rankings for the pages left linked on the homepage..
So if your keyword of a page was at serp 5 and you made the change and it went to 3 you know more homepage juice went to that page.
I also notice a pagerank change sometimes if the homepage is like a 5+

Why would someone go to same 404 page over and over?
Good morning, I've been using the redirection plugin on my wordpress site and noticed i have multiple IP addresses going to the same folder on my site - like "mydomain.com/folder-name/". The "folder-name" is obviously not anything remotely like any folder or file name I have on my domain - so it's obviously spammy in nature. And, there are multiple IP addresses going to this same URL address every 3 hours on the dot, so it's appears automated. Is this something to be concerned about? Should I "do" anything? Thanks in advance for reading and replying!

When we marked a page as noindex with robots like {<meta name="<a class="attribute-value">robots</a>" content="<a class="attribute-value">noindex</a>" />} will crawl and marked as duplicate page content(Its already a duplicate page content within the site. ie, Two links pointing to the same page). So we are mentioning both the links no need to index on SE.But after we made this and crawl reports have no change like it tooks the duplicate with noindex marked pages too. Please help to solve this problem.

Sorting Dupe Content Pages
Hi, I'm no excel pro, and I'm having a bit of a challenge interpreting the Crawl Diagnostics export .csv file. I'd like to see at a glance which of my pages (and I have many) are the worst offenders for dupe content – ie. which have the most "Other URLs" associated with them. Thanks, would appreciate any advice on how other people are using this data, and/or how 'Moz recommends to do it. 🙂

Canonical link on canonical url
This might seem a bit of an odd one, but we seem to be going around in circles on this when using the on page optimizer tool. We have an ecommerce site (magento) which by default is putting a canonical link in the header on every product page. For example; www.example.com/product1.html has the But when we run the on page optimiser tool, we're losing points on the critical section for not having canonical set correctly. If we remove the tag, we get the tick and the a grade, but then further down the report we lose a tick for not using canonical links. What are we missing here?

SEOMoz Crawling Only 1 Page
I entered a new site into my dashboard 2 days ago - everything looked kosher, there were a few hundred pages crawled and a whole bunch of errors. I came back this morning to start work on the site and SEOMoz has crawled the site again, this time returning only 1 page and 0 errors. I haven't even logged in to the site since the first crawl, so I couldn't have broken anything. Has anyone seen this before?

Why is the crawler following form action links?
I have an issue with one of my sites where the SEOMoz crawler is following some form action links. It is my understanding that the crawler will ignore these links. Why would it not be ignoring them in certain cases. If you need more detail, please ask. Thanks.
