Meaning of Keyword difficulty

Before joining SEOMoz I used to calculate Keyword difficulty with my own method based on keyword density, presence of synonyms, Page rank, title and URL.
This seemed to rather well work and I reach 1st page on a fairly regumar basis by picking good difficulty / interest ratio keywords and only onsite optimization. (No link building)
I just looked @Keyword analysis in SEOMoz. It seems it is only based on page / site autority.
Is this correct? Do you believe keyword and synonym density is irrelevent?
Do I need to set back to my home recipe if I want to include keyword analysis in my difficulty assessment ?

Just to be sure this means I still haev to check Google results individually with SEO_Moz on-page analysis to measure keyword difficulty?
How much time do you devote to keyword analysis on a given topic?

My specific concern is wether or not the SEOmoz Keyword difficulty takes content into account and if not if this is a reliable enough indicator to chose my keywords.

From my understanding the onsite work is only 30% of the pie. To ensure that your onsite is good you can use the SEOmoz on page report card.
If the On page data is good all that's left is who is linking to you, how relevant are they, and how authoratative are they?
The onpage content that you were ranking for may have built natural links. People may have referenced it which helped you get results.

Keyword stuffing on a shop Brand Collection Pages - would schema.org Microdata helps?
I'm setting up a Shop for a customer and have few questions about Brand Collection Pages in General. I create collection pages for the main Vendors & Designers and since I add their Brand Names on their products I have more than 40 times the Brand name on one Collection Page. When I run Moz On-Page Optimization I get a „B“ classification since Keyword stuffing for the Brand name. I put the Product Informations (brand-name, product-name, product-price) into Schema.org - Microdata and I‘m just curious what is the best practice. Don‘t using the Brand name when using Brand collection pages, using Microdata only on the product page since there starts the conversion, using Micordata whenever it is possible, doesn't matter since the overall sense of a Collection Pages is to have a lot duplicated Brand names per Page. I honestly have no idea but I just believe that Google or other search engines would appreciate if I categorize it as a Product including Brand-name and price. The other Point is, on the Collection Page I just show the Product Details when the User hover over the Image. As far as I understand, Microdata should be visible. Just showing something when hovering over an Image is that visible or not ? Or in other words, does it makes sense to use Microdata in this case? I just guess Yes since it is not totally hidden. This particular Band Name in my case is „L‘Agent“. For whatever reason Moz don‘t understand the apostrophe in L‘Agent and I get the recommendation to use the exact Keyword in the Title, what I already doing. Keyword Rankings Compare to X not working
Anyone else having trouble with the compare your keyword positions with competitors section of the analytics? The rankings for my site(s) are fine but whichever competitor I click on to compare rankings to just returns 'Not in Top 50' the competitor is ranking. I have just manually checked and they are very much listed in the engine. Is this tool broken?

Keyword data archiving
Hi all, With the limit on the keyword counts, I'm not sure how people are going about collecting data for larger keyword sets? I initially thought to alternate my keywords monthly but can't seem to archive the results. Any thoughts/suggestions would be much appreciated. Thanks

Keywords for Whatafy.com
Hi guys, I own whatafy.com, we translate the articles from my romanian website dli.ro. I'm working on a script for subdomain ask.whatafy.com Whatafy = We Have All The Answers For You Now i'm stuck in seomoz, because as you can see we have articles from over 40 domains, and is a general online magazine with articles. What keywords should i use for main domain ? What competitors to enter in those 3 options so i can track and beat them. Should i make another campaign for ask.whatafy.com when is ready ? or the main campaign have some options to track subdomain to ? I have same situation with dli.ro where in subfolders i have different scripts like, web directory, companies listing, dreams interpretations, illustrated jokes, text jokes, driving licens test, online test for fun, postcodes, wheater, big forum, maps, ecards etc. Is a big portal with everything, and for each subfolder i targeted severel keywords, i need to make a campaign for each folder ?

Cities in Keywords Ranking Reports
So I've been in the habit of creating a master list of keywords concatenated with the city name so I can track my local rankings versus competitors. 1. Is this the correct thing to do to help hone in on who competitive my sites are ranking in the local market? 2. If so, by doing this the On Page reports seem to be totally screwed, because the searches I'm tracking (with city) vs the keywords I want to analyse for on-page ranking (without city), are different. What is the solution?

Where is the keyword difficulty tool data sourced from?
I also use Market Samurai, and I've noticed what seem to be big discrepancies with the keyword data presented by this (data comes from Majestic SEO) and the Keyword Difficulty Tool. To take just one example, I analyze the term "how to remove tea stains" In the Keyword Difficulty Tool, this returns the following: Root Domain Linking Root Domains: 2,233 Page Linking Root Domains: 4 When I use Market Samurai, however, the data returned is: RDD (Domains linking to this domain): 19,911 RDP (Domains linking to this page): 19 I thought that these two metrics were the same for both tools, but I've written them out in case someone sees a difference. As I say, Market Samurai data is sourced from Majestic SEO - a reputable SEO company - but I have no idea where the Keyword Difficulty Tool data is from, nor why these differences are so pronounced? Are they indeed the same metrics in both cases, or am I missing something? Any insight would be much appreciated.

Keyword ranking - authority information
How can you explain that a website (not mine) appears on 1st place in Google (on the Keyword Difficulty Tool/Ranking Analysis) but the Page Authority, Page Linking Root Domains, Domain Authority, and Root Domain Linking Root Domains are much lower than the other websites on the list. Even when running the On-Page Report Card, this website gets grade F comparing to the other (including mine) websites that get better grades. I just want to understand which criteria I'm missing that can explain why a website appears on first place when it seems it's not well optimized. Any input is appreciated. Thanks.
