Titles in google serps incorrect
-
If you do the following query in google:
site:orlandovisiting.com legend sparrow
You'll see in the results the title appears as:
legend-captain-jack-sparrow-1149.html
Where the title tag in the source is:
<title>The Legend of Captain Jack Sparrow Opens at Disney’s Hollywood Studiostitle>
Eventually it normally rights itself, but does anyone else get this with their sites?
Thanks.

Hi Ian,
Google uses many singles to display title in SERP like backlinks pointing that pages, data from directory sites, social media signals etc. They try to increase the CTR of your website so that they display different titles.

Ok so in summary. It's not a hard and fast number of characters, but looks like its pixel widths. Also google can ignore the title tag if it has deemed the title tag non-descriptive?
So two title tags:
<title>The Legend of Captain Jack Sparrow Opens at Disney’s Hollywood Studios</title>
appears as:
legend-captain-jack-sparrow-1149.html - Orlando Visiting
<title>Pirates of the Caribbean: The Legend of Captain Jack Sparrow | Walt Disney World News</title>
appears as
Pirates of the Caribbean: The Legend of Captain Jack Sparrow ...
Is it the pipe in the title affecting this because I wouldn't say it the title tag physical width or number of characters?

Google Not Picking Up Posts
I am trying to work out why from March 4th Google is not seeing my posts. Our google impressions have dropped from 8,000 to 40. If you put in the full article name with speach marks it does not find it, and instead shows the home page in google. We have not had any warnings. We did have work done on our site but nothing else i could think of to cause this. Can anyone let me know what may have caused this. All articles are original

Can OG titles be used as a substitute for Meta titles
We use og (open graph) titles in lieu of meta titles. Is there any downside to using just one. Should we be using both og and meta titles on our page. Appreciate any insight. Himanshu

Test site got indexed in Google - What's the best way of getting the pages removed from the SERP's?
Hi Mozzers, I'd like your feedback on the following: the test/development domain where our sitebuilder works on got indexed, despite all warnings and advice. The content on these pages is in active use by our new site. Thus to prevent duplicate content penalties we have put a noindex in our robots.txt. However off course the pages are currently visible in the SERP's. What's the best way of dealing with this? I did not find related questions although I think this is a mistake that is often made. Perhaps the answer will also be relevant for others beside me. Thank you in advance, greetings, Folko

When will all of Google Maps be the same again?
As many of you are aware that the pigeon update was only applied to the new Google maps resulting in very different search results for Google local business. When you search for a business on old Google maps then you get totally different results vs the new Google maps. Some businesses totally disappeared completely from the search results. I have done my research and found out that it's because the new Algo was only applied to the new maps. Also new algo does not apply to other countries. Well the reason I posted this topic is because I have noticed that all the new Google Business listings I am verifying for my clients are all being put under the old Google maps and not the new ones. They come up fine when searching from old maps but not the new ones. I understand Google has not rolled out the pigeon on all data centers but why? Will Google eventually roll out the update to old maps? Since Google is adding businesses to old google maps then what's the point of even adding new listings?

Google Published Date - Does Google Lie?
Here's the scenario. I create a page called "ABC" and it gets published and found by Google lets say on the 13th of April. on the 15th (or 14th) i decide to update the URL, page Title, and content. (Redirect old URL to new URL as well) Will Google still show this page as being published on the 13th? or would it update the publish date according to the new URL? Will Google Continue to Index the Page with NoIndex Tag Upon Google +1 Button Impression or Click?
The FAQs for Google +1 button suggests as follows: "+1 is a public action, so you should add the button only to public, crawlable pages on your site. Once you add the button, Google may crawl or recrawl the page, and store the page title and other content, in response to a +1 button impression or click." If my page has NoIndex tag, while at the same time inserted with Google +1 button on the page, will Google recognise the NoIndex Tag on the page (and will not index the page) despite the +1 button's impression or clicks send signals to Google spiders?
