Importance of Links and Social
-
I am putting together a presentation for my managers about why link building and social media is important for SEO so that we can get more resources allocated to these areas.
Does anyone have advice/links of convincing arguments for me to include?
Thanks!

Great response from Adam!
I would just like to add to simply gather numbers from your Google Analytics / Traffic / Refferal Traffic. And focus on traffic from social media (Facebook mostly) to your site. Write the report about how much traffic was generated from your fan page or twitter account from the date you started your social media profiles. You should have an increase in the numbers overall...

SEO:
- Do a search on Google for the products/services your company offers. Show your managers how potential buyers are finding your competitors and buying from them instead.
- Explain why SEO traffic can be such a powerful way to drive sales - because you get to present your company at the exact moment a potential buyer is looking for exactly what you have to offer!
Social Media:
- Present how you could use social media to promote content that would help position your company as an industry-thought leader.
- Present statistics showing how many people are using social media.
- Show how other companies in your industry are using social media to stay in touch with prospects, promote product specials, etc.

Does posting links in comments on Linkedin count as blackhat?
Hello, I noticed a competitor site has started writing a post on linkedin and then adding the link to the article they are referencing in the comments section. I started to dig into this and came up with this useful post https://growthrocks.com/blog/linkedin-abtest-link-in-comment/ to me that all screams black hat, spamming and scamming... What does the Moz Community think? Sincere thanks for feedback and I hope you're safe - wherever you are... Rhiannon

Do twitter profile links in bio pass juice?
Links that are added in the "Website" field in a twitter profile are nofollow. However, links added to the "Bio" section are dofollow. This has to mean these links are passing juice correct?

Request: Feedback on new free tool that provides social analytics for recent blog posts
We have created a tool that provides "at a glance social metrics" for the URLs listed in an RSS feed. Its intended purposes are: Monitor the social success of your recent blog posts Spy on the social success of your competitors' recent blog posts Quickly analyze a blog for social sharing metrics to determine whether it is a good outreach prospect or guest post opportunity Check out the tool at http://www.rypmarketing.com/tools/rss-social-analyzer.php I've attached a report run on the YouMoz RSS feed. Would love to hear some feedback on the tool... Do you think the tool is useful? Nice, but not worthwhile? What could be done to improve it? What ways do you think it will be most useful? Thanks! Social Media and its importance for organic ranking
Hi Community, maybe this question hasn't to be answered directly, but can be answered with a link. I am sure the answer must be out there on the web... 😉 I have a company, a companies website and a companies facebookpage. Now the question: What kind of user activity on my facebookpage is good for the organic ranking in google? Is it only good, when people click the "like"-Button on my homepage (which gives me a nofollow-backlink from facebook - unfortunatelly in most cases hidden for googles eyes)? Is it useful when I get a "like" directly on my facebookpage? Or is it the best to have a status on facebook that is shared very often? Will Google see the connection between a shared facebook status and my website (of course the website is on the info page of my facebooks site...)? I ask that because I wonder how (for example) a viral picture on facebook shared very often can helb my business. Uuuuh, so, where's my answer on the web? 😉 Thank you!

Do facebook shares pass share juice the same way links pass link juice?
If i have a page on my domain say PAGE-A and let's say it's located at: http://www.mydomain.com/something/page-a and this page has quite a lot of page authority from many many inbound links. It is my understanding that if i "sculpt" the internal links on PAGE-A to point at only my primary targets, let's call the PAGE-B, PAGE-C, and PAGE-D; then those pages would gain some benefit from this link juice flowing through. Consider a similar situation where i have a page, say PAGE-F located at: http://www.mydomain.com/anotherpage/page-F and page-F gets 150 facebook shares. would the links on page-F pass this benefit on in any way? Or is only the direct target of the facebook share gaining benefit from this facebook sharing? Furthermore, lets consider a scenario where there are 30 or 40 similar pages like PAGE-F all with links out to my primary targets. Would these primary targets gain anything as these 30 or 40 pages gained facebook shares? Repeat above question, replace 'facebook' with 'twitter'. repeat again for 'google+' ?

So I am my coworker have a differing opinion on social networking sites.
One of us says to join one or two, Linkedin being one of them and just work those. The other says to build profiles on multiple pages - everything from Merchant Circle to fastpitch , essentially any and all, and not worry about activity level, just get the link. What are your thoughts? Which approve will result in more effective optimization for clients?
