Ecombuffet.com are offering a Rescue Review focused on Panda - Penguin and identifying issues. Has anyone used this service or aware of the organisation in general?

http://www.ecombuffet.com/rescue-review.htm . I have 2 sites that have definitely been hit by penguin and getting worse so am thinking of paying for this service as nothing I do seems to stop the slide (more like a plummet).
Any comments welcome.

Sorry, missed that!

Thanks guys for the comments.

Thanks for the compliment and recommendation Francisco
The first step I recommend for anyone who feels they have been impacted by a traffic drop is file a Reconsideration Request with Google.
I have always taken this step with every client who I accept regardless of whether they feel they have been penalized or not. It truly does not hurt to ask. Matt previously shared the fears which prevent site owners from filing a Reconsideration Request (i.e. what if I am not penalized and then they find something wrong) are typically unfounded.
Google will typically respond in a week letting you know if you are manually penalized or not. If your site is manually penalized, then you have your answer....for free! I have never charged anyone for making this inquiry. It is quick and easy.
If you skip this step, then your site could be mis-identified as having a Penguin / Panda or other issue. You can spend a lot of time and resources not handling the root issue properly as a result.
If no manual action has been taken against your site, then you are left to studying your website and analytic data to determine the root issue. I would recommend leaving that task to a professional unless you are really comfortable with this activity.
I have no experience with the "Rescue Review". The site seems like a full service Digital Marketing agency. Not knowing anything about the company, I reviewed the home page for a minute and found some reasons why I would not choose their services. In short, they are a provider of SEO services but have issues with their site:
1. The site appears in both www and non-www form. http://ecombuffet.com/ and http://www.ecombuffet.com/
2. Underscores in the URLs
3. Long title tag (74 chars) "Search Engine Optimization (SEO) services. Get your website ranked on top."
4. Half the images are missing alt tags
I'll stop there. The company may be great, but I have concerns about SEO providers who do not incorporate SEO best practices into their own site. And not to be a complete hypocrite I should definitely mention my company site has been under construction for 18 months and wont launch anytime soon, so I am hardly in a position to judge.
Best of luck Shane.

Hello all
As some members have noted, it is largely about having the time, resources, in-depth knowledge, and ability to identify the exact problems that have affected one's site (there have been so many Google changes that you need to be able to differentiate each one and identify which one(s) have affected you).
We don't use just one tool and it's not all automated. We use a variety of tools and perform a manual review.
We identify all foundational SEO problems with a site (as covered on our Rescue Review page), as well as provide a Link Audit (as part of the Rescue Review). The Rescue Review includes an extensive, comprehensive breakdown of all issues with a site and provides suggested solutions for each issue (we even provide marketing feedback - i.e. if we see areas that could be improved in that aspect, we provide you with that feedback) ...we don't just provide the bare bones stuff, we dive all the way in.
The Link Audit provides a detailed overview of your links and any suggested actions on those. With this detailed analysis, we also provide a couple of documents to help guide you in link building and link cleanup (versus just saying 'hey this is your problem, figure out how to fix it on your own).
We just wanted to provide a few more details on the service. So while, yes, technically the extensive review that we perform and provide 'could' be done by yourself, we take the time (lots of time) and frustration out of it for you. And we go above and beyond to provide as many details as possible (again, even where it concerns marketing, which many wouldn't consider part of an SEO review or a Panda/Penguin review). We also offer a free consultation with the SEO Rescue so you can talk about the findings with us.
And, of course, you can hire us to help with your SEO efforts but whether you do or not, you'll walk away with A TON of knowledge and direction in all areas (since we don't just cover on-site SEO, off-site SEO/links, on-site marketing -> we cover it all).

"Overall I think they are reasonably priced..."
Based on what price?

What you should do is contact Ryan Kent. He's one of us mozzers. I recommend his services.

I have sent him a client.

You will be paying them to identify issues you could do yourself, assuming you had the time and ability. If you don't then you might need to pay someone to do that for you. But you should get a couple of quotes and get feedback on any company / service you consider.
Keep in mind they are not offering to do any of the leg work of getting low quality links removed, which is tough. You'll either need to learn how to do the outreach to get links removed, document it all, and file a reconsideration request or get someone to do those tasks as well.
If you do have the time, you should have a look through some recent SEOmoz panda/penguin guide posts and do it yourself. You'll learn a lot!
Good luck.

Should I use the on classified listing pages that have expired?
We have went back and forth on this and wanted to get some outside input. I work for an online listing website that has classified ads on it. These ads are generated by companies on our site advertising weekend events around the country. We have about 10,000 companies that use our service to generate their online ads. This means that we have thousands of pages being created each week. The ads have lots of content: pictures, sale descriptions, and company information. After the ads have expired, and the sale is no longer happening, we are currently placing the in the heads of each page. The content is not relative anymore since the ad has ended. The only value the content offers a searcher is the images (there are millions on expired ads) and the descriptions of the items for sale. We currently are the leader in our industry and control most of the top spots on Google for our keywords. We have been worried about cluttering up the search results with pages of ads that are expired. In our Moz account right now we currently have over 28k crawler warnings alerting us to the being in the page heads of the expired ads. Seeing those warnings have made us nervous and second guessing what we are doing. Does anybody have any thoughts on this? Should we continue with placing the in the heads of the expired ads, or should we be allowing search engines to index the old pages. I have seen websites with discontinued products keeping the products around so that individuals can look up past information. This is the closest thing have seen to our situation. Any help or insight would be greatly appreciated! -Matt

Technical SEO Issues - Traffic Drop
Hi guys, I hope you're all doing well! We're a small personalised gifts company who specialise in the provision of phone cases, mugs, macbook covers and the like. I head up the Digital Marketing but have little experience in the technical side of SEO and have very limited resources in terms of budget and staffing. Over the past few months, I've been working on stripping down the thin content on the site, fixing duplicate content issues and focusing on other digital channels to boost revenue. However, as of recent we've noticed a significant drop in traffic and our rankings. I've tried to diagnose the problem and I'm convinced there are some technical SEO fixes that need to be implemented. Our website is www.mrnutcase.com If any of you have any ideas, I'd love to hear some of them. Greatly appreciated, Danny

Is there any company or service that offers link disavowing?
Hi there, some SEO companies did some work on our site. Instead of helping us they killed us by adding some very bad links all over the web. The disavowing process is not easy at all so I was wondering if there is any company that offers this. We have almost 1000 links that we want to get rid of. Any suggestions?

Permanently using 301 for internal link
Hello Folks, Tried going through the 301 answers but could not find any question similar to what I had. The issue we have is we have got a listing page with the products like this: /used-peugeot/used-toyota-corolla As you can see this URL is not really ideal and I want to redirect it to /used-toyota/corolla using mod_rewrite. The redirect will be 301. My concern here is the URL in the listing page won't change to /used-toyota/corolla and hence the 301 will be 'permanently' placed and I was wondering if this will lose some link juice of the 301ed URL. Now with 301 being a 'permanent' redirect one would assume it should not be an issue but I just wanted to be sure that I am correct in assuming so. Thank you for your time.

Recent Penguin Update
Hi SEOMoz, Today www.carrentalbuddy.com.au was hit pretty big by the Penguin 2.0 update (I believe). We had some pretty strong rankings for multiple search terms and we believe we have done everything by the book for Google. We can't seem to figure out why our rankings have dropped so dramatically recently and was hoping that some SEOMoz's could take a quick look to help us fix this problem. Kindest Regards, Chris

Our quilting site was hit by Panda/Penguin...should we start a second "traffic" site?
I built a website for my wife who is a quilter called LearnHowToMakeQuilts.com. However, it has been hit by Panda or Penguin (I’m not quite sure) and am scared to tell her to go ahead and keep building the site up. She really wants to post on her blog on Learnhowtomakequilts.com, but I’m afraid it will be in vain for Google’s search engine. Yahoo and Bing still rank well. I don’t want her to produce good content that will never rank well if the whole site is penalized in some way. I’ve overly optimized in linking strongly to the keywords “how to make a quilt” for our main keyword, mainly to the home page and I think that is one of the main reasons we are incurring some kind of penalty. First main question: From looking at the attached Google Analytics image, does anyone know if it was Panda or Penguin that we were “hit” by? And, what can be done about it? (We originally wanted to build a nice content website, but were lured in by a get rich quick personality to rather make a “squeeze page” for the Home page and force all your people through that page to get to the really good content. Thus, our avenge time on site per person is terrible and Pages per Visit is low at: 1.2. We really want to try to improve it some day. She has a local business website, Customcarequilts.com that did not get hit. Second question: Should we start a second site rather than invest the time in trying to repair the damage from my bad link building and article marketing? We do need to keep the site up and running because it has her online quilting course for beginner quilters to learn how to quilt their first quilt. We host the videos through Amazon S3 and were selling at least one course every other day. But now that the Google drop has hit, we are lucky to sell one quilting course per month. So, if we start a second site we can use that to build as a big content site that we can use to introduce people to learnhowtomakequilts.com that has Martha’s quilting course. So, should we go ahead and start a new fresh site rather than to repair the damage done by my bad over optimizing? (We’ve already picked out a great website name that would work really well with her personal facebook page.) Or, here’s a second option, which is to use her local business website: customcarequilts.com. She created it in 2003 and has had it ever since. It is only PR 1. Would this be an option? Anyway I’m looking for guidance on whether we should pursue repairing the damage and whether we should start a second fresh site or use an existing site to create new content (for getting new quilters to eventually purchase her course). Do you use your own Blog networks?
Do you use a network of sites you own for links to your clients in your seo efforts? I see so many seo companies doing this from such junk sites with all their clients in the blog roll, it seems totally crazy. It seems this stuff works do any of you do this if so how do you keep it white hat?
