Compare the rankings

Hi All,
I have an example
2 domains are targeting the same keyword, one of them ranks higher then another.
Here is the image from OSE http://www.freeimagehosting.net/udq2f
Would you be able to tell ( based on the image )which of the domains is winning , "domain 1" or "domain2" and what exactly the " looser " should do to improve its rankings

I guess you have a narrow image of how Google look in to the websites when rankings in SERPs against different key phrases. The images should some good measurements but there is nothing that allows me to come up with the answer of domain 1 or domain 2…
We even have no clue how many things Google consider but we at least know that they are 200+ signals.
My advice for whoever domain is losing to analyze every area that may be on-page optimization, content, back links, social, press links or others and if anything is bad or at least not up to the mark then try to fix it and work accordingly.
Hope this helps!

There's absolutely no way to tell from the image you're showing. There are SO many scenarios that this image along doesn't allow us to see.
If I had to guess I'd say domain #2 (#1 is obviously the winner of most metrics so there'd be no point in sharing the image if the outcome wasn't suprisng).
Two possible scenarios of the top of my head:
a.)
#1 has a lot of low quality inbound links and is therefore winning even though domain #2 supposedly has better links and #1 is winning
b.)
The inverse of "a", i.e. #1 has lots of low quality links and #2 is winning with high quality links.
c.)
#2's onsite SEO is much better, particularly internal linking, which allowed it to come out on top.
d.) infiniti (if that's the right word).
Point being...metrics don't really tell us that much unless they're Google's metrics, i.e. the search results...and even, it's easy to stump just about anybody on why X site is ranking above Y. In fact, I don't even think a Google engineer could tell you in a lot of instances after all of the recent updates other than to say, "It's an Algorithm".

Without seeing the root domain metrics, I'd say domain 1 and my advice would be to pursue some relationships with other people in the same industry (or interested in things related to what's in the page content) and see if some high quality links could be earned.
If the site is a business (i.e. selling products, gathering leads, or anything of that nature), the first thing I would do would be to check to make sure all of the business citations available were filled out with complete information and claimed. http://getlisted.org/ is a great place to evaluate where you are at and what steps you need to take to complete your online business proflles. Most of them are completel free for basic listings, with many enhanced options available too.
Good luck!

Lost ALL my rankings
Dear experts, We have suddenly lost all our positions on our keywords, I’m talking for example from position 2 to 35 in one huge drop ☹ . Even when you search for our name and domain name namely “KV16”, the main page does NOT come up. (We do however still get the local business / map result on the right side!) I have looked in google search console, but nothing to see here – no penalty. However, I need to mention, that we just now, after the issue, setup the google search console – so maybe that is why there is no information about a penalty!? (If the problem is a penalty, btw we have not been doing any link building!) One year ago, we made a permanent redirect from our old site, www.kontoret-gammeltorv.dk, because we moved our coworking office, to a new location, and needed a new name – (because the old name is referring to a location, hence no longer made sense.) This worked flawlessly, and we got all the link juice, and the new site ranked just as good as the old one. Aprox four months ago, we made some changes to the site, where we amongst other things, changed the title description on the frontpage, focusing more on another keyword – and doing this we unknowingly change the permalink to the frontpage (in WordPress). I have read that this can do some real damage, however its so long ago, that it seems unlikely to be the cause!? Please help!? Thanks a million, in advance. Cheers, Christian pJp4Uyx

Highly ranked pages to new domain?
Hi everyone! We are ranked #1 for about 30 product pages at www.oldsite.com/product1 and we are wanting to move about 30 of those pages to a new site www.newsite.com/product1 (new domain and hosting - which we own). What is the best way to do this? I'm confused if you recreate those pages on the new domain vs. ftp move them, 301 re-directs, etc. Looking for the things we must do and the sequence to do it all, etc. Thanks so much!

Keyword ranking verse all other data
Hi there I have just joined Moz so I am not sure if i am doing a good job of analysing all the data, but from what i can see i have a few questions: 1. I seem to have a fairly high visibility compared to a few other competitors 2. All the other competitors i am looking at have a much lower domain authority 3. I win the link metrics in all categories compared to my competitors 4. I have a page optimisation score of 94 5. I dont have any crawl issues (except that i just changed to https and i believe there is a synching issue with Moz and cloud flare..) YET I barely rank for any of the main keyword in my industry.... Kitchen, New Kitchen, Kitchen Renovation etc. I also have a page optimisation score of 94 for related keywords. I feel like i am really missing a big point and was hoping I could get your expert thoughts on this 🙂 Thanks so much! PS my domain is www.bluetea.com.au

Is my other domain making me not rank?
Hi there, We have a .co.uk website which was ranking well for a number of highly competitive keywords, however in February 2012 those rankings for those keywords suddenly dropped off Google all together and have never came back. A few possibilties to why this has happened: We launched a .ie website which has exactly the same content, could this be the reason for the drop? I have put in all the necessary steps in making sure Google ranks these geographically correct by using hreflang and making sure everything is setup properly in webmaster tools. Why I think it could be this: If I copy and paste the first few paragraphs of text from the pages in the .co.uk website that were ranked highly in Google.co.uk it's the .ie version that appears not the .co.uk version. Here is the webpages in question: http://www.avogel.co.uk/health/menopause/ http://www.avogel.ie/health/menopause/ Forgot to mention, the reason we have these two websites is due to different currency and legalities. Hope someone can help me out with this.

My homepage doesn't rank anymore. It's been replaced by irrelevant subpages which rank around 100-200 instead of top 5.
Hey guys, I think I got some kind of penalty for my homepage. I was in top5 for my keywords. Then a few days ago, my homepage stopped ranking for anything except searching for my domain name in Google. sitename.com/widget-reviews/ previously ranked #3 for "widget reviews"
Intermediate & Advanced SEO | | wearetribe
but now....
sitename.com/widget-training-for-pet-cats/ is ranking #84 for widget reviews instead. Similarly across all my other keywords, irrelevant, wrong pages are ranking. Did I get some kind of penalty?0 -
Drop in rankings, next step
So based on a question asked yesterday, I am wondering what my next step is. Yesterday's question was, I have made updates to Title and Meta Descriptions for my client's site and suddenly they are not showing up in the top 50 for numerous keywords that they used to. The only words in the page source that were edited were "fluff" words that were replaced with relevant keywords reflected in much of the on-page copy yet now the client is not showing up. Ideas? From responses and research, it seems there's a lag time in Google to pick up the updated titles/info and these changes can cause a drop in rankings for a short time - however, I can't very well turn to my client and say sorry your website isn't showing up for a few weeks...wondering what my next step should be, or is there a greater issue I'm missing.
