What could cause your Domain Authority score to drop?
-
We have 3 websites that are on 3 different campaigns. Our flagship website is www.cannontrading.com. The Domain Authority score on it was 42. When I first (Mid November 2012) started, we had 295 keywords allocated for Cannontrading.com and 5 other keywords for allocated to our other websites... e-futures.com and e-mini.com. What I wanted to do was optimize the other two pages and I did this by taking taking 50 the keywords that were not ranked in the top 50 from Cannontrading.com and assigned them to the our other two sites. Could this have caused the drastic drop in the score? Our keyword rankings for the "Top 3" has dropped from 93 to 34 since November 2012.
We did have a company that did article submissions for us up till October 2012. Could this have caused our drop in the Domain Authority Score and our Keyword Rankings?
I didn't make any other changes to Cannon website beside taking away those keywords and given them to our other sites.
Any suggestions or thoughts would really help me.
Regards,
David

If we had a company doing articles submissions and they stop doing it, would this affect DA score and the keyword rankings? Like I said, I haven't changed anything to the site except taking 50 unranked keywords from t he campaign and adding it to our other two websites campaign.

DA is determined mostly by the backlinks to your site. The higher quality (sites with high DA) and quantity of backlinks to your site, the greater your DA.
As far as I know, there are no backlinks that would negatively affect your DA.

Page Authority and Google updates favouring websites with black hat practices ?
Can someone explain how is it that most of the competitors I have online and that rank in first page of the search results almost entirely get links ( in the thousands) and still have higher or equal domain/page authority than mine? I went 1 by 1 checking all their links and they mostly come from sex pages, and non related sites. I say stop creating angry pandas and penguins and start taking out of the game people that just play dirty. Thanks.

Domain Authority Droped 4 Points
Hi there, After the Last Mozscape index update: 08/27/2013Our DA along with all our competitors DA has dropped 4 points, Is there any reason for this ?Have others seen the same thing? Any suggestions of building DA again fast ? The owner of the company gets the reports from Moz and it really doesn't look good. Is it expected to bounce back ?

Solution to "Exact Match Domain" issue?
My website bayjobs.com has done well for years, then virtually disappeared from google on September 28, which is the day of the emd (exact match domain) penalty. Meanwhile, similar sites like bajobs.com and bayareajobfinder.com have fared just fine for keywords "bay area jobs". I was previously around #5 for those keywords, but now not even in top 200. Does anyone have any solution for this? Thanks for any insight!

How are our competitors getting these inbound linking domains?
I'm currently managing SEO for my company's website, and I'm getting into link building for the first time. As part of the process, I'm using Open Site Explorer to see who's linking into our competitor sites, to get a better sense of what's available to us in our particular avenue of e-commerce. However, I'm finding that our competitors are getting inbound links from high-authority sites pretty far afield from selling jewelry - census.gov, parallels.com, warnerbros.com, and others. I try clicking through to these links, but each link starts a download of a file. I've seen .f4v, .7z, and .apk files listed as inbound links to our competitor. How is this happening? Again, I'm new to link building, so there may be a simple answer here, and if so I apologize for asking. However, this seems really strange to me, and a difficult situation to confront.
