Is there an SEO benefit to purchasing domains for a website?
-
Greetings Mozzers,
I wanted to see if someone could clarify the power of domains for me a bit. Is there an SEO benefit in purchasing fresh domains for a specific website? Something that would effect certain metrics like parking keyword domains to pages that target that keyword?
I'm not talking about buying pre-existing domains that have value and are for sale. I'm talking about newly registered domains.
Thanks for any advice/clarification.

It used to be a popular tactic to register a bunch of domains and then build thin content to try to rank for a keyword, these days it isn't worth the time and effort. Better to focus on building up your main domain.
-
It's more of an open ending question. I was asking if there is a way to utilize new domains for an SEO strategy.
-
I would say definitely not. Happy to be challenged on that though
Especially now it appears search engines are devaluing the power of EMDs over brands.

Not sure if I understand the question, are you talking about purchasing domain names and then building them up with content? If so, there could be. Generally speaking it's better to focus your efforts on one domain, but there are exceptions.
If you are talking about just registering domain names and then forwarding to your existing website, there is no benefit or very, very, very little benefit. Probably none.

Subdomain vs Root Domain Metrics
My site has everything in the root - test.com. www.test.com is redirected to test.com and all content is in the root; there are no subdomains. So I'm completely confused as to how the mozrank and moztrust are different. They have the same number of links yet: Subdomain: MozRank - 3.72
Competitive Research | | Optimise
MozTrust - 3.23 Root Domain: MozRank - 3.05
MozTrust - 2.79 This seems consistent with all my competitors too so just wondered if someone could explain why the root domain is usually/often lower? Surely the root domain numbers should always be equal to or higher than the subdomain?0 -
Will changing my domain name from a .co.uk to a .com affect my SEO?
Hi all, The .com for my domain name has become available (I am currently a .co.uk) so I am looking to move over my website to this but first would like double check if this would have any affect on my SEO at all? As a company we mainly target the middle east (Although based in the UK) but at the time of registering years ago the .com was not available. Do I have a 'history' logged with the current .co.uk domain or is my website solely dominated by the content? Also, if I do transfer what would be the easiest way of doing this just changing the DNS to a different location (will there be a duplicate content issue on both domain names?). Thanks in advance!!

I would like a good SEO company
Hi, I know this must be a repeated question but I would like to have an SEO company that would take care of getting my site on the top three pages of google and I would like some advice over my website. I have been investing in link building for a month now but I think my meta tag might not be the most appropriate, i should probably have various and came across your website. I have found zero negative feed back on your company, I run other business but this is my first online experience and don't have the time to give it the SEO so with that in mind I would like to know what SEO packages would you recommend for my business and in what time would I be seeing page ranks in google bing and yahoo. I hope you can help me out, I'm a newbie at this and my online business is interesting and want to see it already operating my website is sheep buy.com, concept is people can sell for free, not just post an item like a classified site but actually sell for free through paypal and we don't charge a fee, so would really want some insight. Hope you can help me out. Beat regards Jerry
