Why is this site at no.1?
-
In the last 2 months, a previously unranked/unheard of website jumped straight to no.1 position for a particular keyword when searched from USA and is even ranking over many other big brands or stronger DA/PA sites.
I did notice some very strange JavaScript popup links that are heavily keyword linked from the first mention of the keyword on the page content. What are they trying to do here?
Otherwise they don't seem to have much PA/DA or seo going on.
Why are they doing so well?!
-
It definitely does look "spammy/unnatural". What I mean is that it provides no useful content for visitors if it's hidden and looks like it's put there simply for the spiders. So I would say it's spamming (even though some items are ok to use solely for the spiders).
In this case, I would say in the short-term probably does not yield any significant positive results and in the long-term it will actually hurt them.

Thanks for your ideas. What do you think about this keyword stuffed on-page hidden popup code they're using - could it be that it is helping them?
There are over 20 of these with small variations repeated in the source code near the head. Is this not a kind of spamming?
div = document.createElement('div');
div.style.display = 'none';
div.style.position = 'absolute';
div.className = 'jsLinks';
div.id = 'jsLinks_travel to turkey';
div.onmouseout = function(ev) { jsHideDiv(ev, this); };
div.innerHTML = '<d< span="">iv class="jsWord">travel to turkey</d<>iv><d< span="">iv class="jsLink"> <a< span="">href="/travel-to-turkey/wedding-ideas/bodrum-hotels/destination-wedding/selected-venues-in-bodrum">Bodrum Hotels | Travel to Turkey | Travel to Bodrum| bodrum wedding | travel insurance|</a<> ></d<>iv><d< span="">iv class="jsLink"> <a< span="">href="/travel-to-turkey/turkey-tours/turkey-travel">Turkey Travel | Travel to Turkey | travel in turkey | turkey tours</a<>></d<>iv><d< span="">iv class="jsLink"> <a< span="">href="/travel-to-turkey/turkey-tours/travel-agent/why-choose-us">Travel to Turkey |Turkey Tours | travel agent | travel agencies</a<> ></d<>iv>';
document.body.appendChild(div); -
Typically a site that is previously unranked/unheard makes a sudden jump high in organics could be a number of reasons.
Two of these are:
1.) a high pagerank (let say popular) site gave you an inbound link from a popular page
2,) or a naturally high ranking (typically after launch) from Google that drops rapidly (called a reverse sandbox - positive indexing for initial period)
In this case 2 month is a long time so I expect it is #1 (#2 should have worn off by now). After looking at their link profile, I could not say #1 is the reason either.
So emarald is probably right, good on-page seo took the site there...

After a superficial look I couldn't see anything terribly wrong with it, it's just a bit over-optimized, but it has fare enough metrics, the keyword on the domain, a reasonable url structure and relevant content, so why shouldn't it rank well? It doesn't look like a highly competitive keyword combination. Also, if you say the site just jumped in, bare in mind that Google maybe testing it and it could go down soon enough.

What to do about one site dominating search results? (multiple pages ranking)?
Anybody have thoughts on dealing with search results where the same site gets listed multiple times? "weebly vs wix" is one example (same site #1-3, repetitive articles, not crazy high authority), but I see this now and then. I know Google likes variety, so it's weird for me to see results like this dominating search results. Thoughts? What gets these sites to take over the top rankings for a specific term? Any way to rise up in this situation, outside of the usual? Any tips on duplicating this kind of success?

Comparing 3 sites and their ranks
I am looking at 3 sites and what they have going for them and why they are ranking how they are. I would like to get some of your feedback on why certain sites are above other ones. One of these sites is a client of mine, I will not point out which one. The other 2 are just competitors. http://www.cornhole-game.org/cornhole-bags.html http://www.samscornholebags.com/ http://www.ajjcornhole.com/cornhole-bags.php I have compared them in OSE and they have PA of 39, 29, and 58 respectively. AJJ has a ton of links, many of which are spammy and irrelevant. It looks like a link package was bought at some point. The other two have a similar number of links but www.cornhole-game.org/cornhole-bags.html has more anchor text themed links. None of which seem to be overly optimized. http://www.samscornholebags.com/ seems to have a lot of company branded anchor text links compared to keyword links. http://www.ajjcornhole.com/cornhole-bags.php as I said obviously bought links and has a ton of stuffed keyword links on poor sites http://www.ajjcornhole.com/cornhole-bags.php has minimal social shares http://www.cornhole-game.org/cornhole-bags.html has about 30 shares http://www.samscornholebags.com/ has about 30 shares but a good number of likes and some other social signals. All 3 sites have an A grade using the on page grade tool here on this site. All 3 got dinged for keyword stuffing. http://www.samscornholebags.com/ ranks the highest with the least amount of links and PA http://www.ajjcornhole.com/cornhole-bags.php ranks next with a really poor link profile and the least amount of social activity http://www.cornhole-game.org/cornhole-bags.html ranks the lowest with anchor text links that are not spammed and some social activity So with all of this in mind, would anybody care to weigh in on why they think any of these sites are ranking where they are in comparison to one another.

Reached No. 1 for my Keyword, what next?
Hi, After months of targeting, promoting etc... I have now reached Google.co.uk rank position 1 for my phrase "creative recreation trainers" and I stand at rank 3 on Google.com. I am happy with these results as this is the phrase I targeted and this is the brand I wanted to rank first for. But were do I go from here? I am thinking I change brand and try work some magic on that, but still continuing to add backlinks etc... to the Creative keyword phrase? What would people advise? Also can anyone do an analysis of any sort on that keyword phrase and/or the url http://www.designerboutique-online.com/all-clothing/creative-recreation/ and tell me some good points, bad points, what to do next and so on? Any help would be great. Thanks

Keyword Search - another site bypassed me and they are not ranked well...
I was trying to optimize the keywords "music for kids" . This is a no brainer because my URL is "musicforkids" My On-Page Report Card for "music for kids" gives my site a "A". The on page report card for the other site gets an "F". But the other site comes up number ONE in the organic Google search and my site comes up number three. The two sites above me receive a crappy on page Keyword report for the key words "music for kids" but they still come up above me for that search term. What's the deal?

Wondering why my site ranks well for one page and not another.
Customers mainly find our site from searching very specific part numbers on google. My site is launch3telecom.com. Take for example these two parts:
Competitive Research | | launch3
MT500A-81015 MR050-81045 Search only those parts in google - we rank 3rd for one of them and don't rank at all for another. Is there any way to check backlinks pointing to those pages? We even show up before big sites like ebay and such on one of them. Can anyone help me understand this?0 -
Why is this site ranking #1?
I've done extensive research into http://www.maggiesottero.com/ and cannot come up to any definitive conclusions as to why this site is ranking #1 for the term "wedding dresses." The page is not optimized for the keyword. **Any thoughts? **

Search shows site links, but not hyperlinked?
2 of our competitors on Google have site links show in their results which brings you to that specific page. In our listing we show up with the same results a few spots behind them with our site links visible showing very similar content, but are not actually hyper linked. Is there a way to fix the issue and let people actually be able to click on our site links instead of just reading them?
