Google analytics is not tracking well
-
Hey,
There is something not working in our GA account, its shows too many visits per day, when look where this traffic comes from, the majority comes from (not set).
Please find attached.
Really appreciate help! Thank you!

Hey
It's tough to say, I'm not sure which report you're looking at exactly (the keyword report?) - "not set" means is was a different medium of traffic - either direct or referral, so there is no keyword.
There is no way to fix "not provided" - Google has been blocking the keyword for logged in users since October of 2011. Not provided means Google will not provide the keyword because of this.
I highly doubt something it wrong though. You're looking at the /en/ page - is that a new page for English users? Maybe it's a new URL and thus only sees traffic recently.
You can use this awesome method to test Google Analytics with Screaming Frog to make sure it's installed on every page on your website.
Hope that helps!

"Palabra clave" --> "key word" - that's great - I play salsa music, and "clave" the central rhythm was always described as the "key" to the music. It's true!

Hey,
We are not running any campaigns.
I know its not impossible, but this client had no prior seo work done and we are just implementing new changes.
Increases of 1000% on traffic from 1 month to another with no promotion of any kind and just starting with SEO...weird.
I have no idea where to start...with new info...any idea of what can be happening?
-
Streamline is right on with all this. One thing I want to assure you of is that GA is definitely not malfunctioning. So cross that off your list of possibilities and continue your research.
Good luck!
-
Are you running a Google AdWords campaign? If so, then (not set) means the AdWords and Analytics accounts are not linked properly.
And "60 visits per day to 623" is certainly not impossible! But I agree it is likely a little weird if you aren't doing any kind of advertising or promotion. Are you able to look up if the increase in visitors is possibly coming from Direct or Referral sites?
-
The thing is that from one day to another we have been we passed from 60 visits per day to 623 fror example...one day to another,,,thats impossible.
And most of the traffic marks non provided...this is what support from google says: http://support.google.com/analytics/answer/2820717?hl=en-GB, and we dont know how to fix this.
Thanx for your help!
-
In this case, you are looking up the keywords which generated traffic to your site and "(not set)" means the traffic is not coming from any keywords, most likely because it is Direct or Referral traffic.
I'm not sure what you mean by "too many visits per day" - can you elaborate?

Google Analytics Events that lead to Goals (conversions)
Hello! I'm in the process of setting up Events in Google Analytics to track the performance of banner ads on our site. While that will take care of the action performed by the visitor (i.e. the click on the banner), it doesn't tell me if the visitor ultimately completed the form where the banner ad directs them (which is set up as one of out site's Goals). Once the Event is in place, will I be able to track the Goal conversions that it leads to? It's nice that Events will tell me which banner drove someone to the form, but if I'm not able to see if that Event led to a Goal conversion it seems like something will be missing. So, is this something that's already available within Goals or Events reporting, or is there an additional step I need to take? Thanks in advance for your feedback! Erik

Is it possible to use Google Tag Manager to pass a user’s text input into a form field to Google analytics?
Hey Everyone, I finally figured out how to use auto event tracking with Google Tag Manager, but didn't get the data I wanted. I want to see what users are typing into the search field on my site (the URL structure of my site isn't set up properly to use GA's built-in site search tracking). So, I set up the form submit event tracking in Google Tag Manager and used the following as my event tracking parameters: Category: Search Action: Search Value When I test and look in Google Analytics I just see: "search" and "search value." I wanted to see the text that I searched on my site. Not just the Action and Category of the event.... Is what I'm trying to do even possible? Do I need to set up a different event tracking parameter? Thanks everyone!

Multiple domains to one payment sub-domain in Google Analytics
Hi Mozzers, I have a series of sites (~25) that are all regional e-commerce sites with the same URL structure eg. www.[region]-product.com as well as a 'master' site (eg www.product.com). I also have a single Adwords PPC account which point to all of the regional sites as well as the master site. As part of the payment/checkout process you only ever get taken to a sub domain of the master site (eg payment.product.com). My question is: Is it wise to use the single PPC Adwords account to set up an Analytics account under which I list all of the regional sites and the master site? Once that's done I'm not entirely sure how I can track sales from a regional site to the payment process of the master site and have sales correctly assigned to the right domain. On the payment process I can only use one site ID tracking code so I'm not even sure I can correctly assign a transaction to a single site if multiple sites use the same payment pages. Example: Visit to region-product.com > Quote form submitted to payment.product.com > Payment completed on payment.product.com > Sale is assigned to which domain? Can anyone who understands what I'm trying to achieve comment on the plausibility of this? Many many thanks!

Google Analytics Organic Keyword (Not Provided) Alternative Hacks?
I'm sure everyone is sick of the (Not Provided) keywords because I know I am, and Google reckons that you should only see 10% or less (I'm currently around 13% and growing). I am seeking alternatives or hacks that will help display the keywords? If you have a hack to actually display the keywords, please share it your ideas and thoughts? I recently implemented a hack that will show the landing page of the keywords which is better than nothing. But as an eCommerce site, I have about 10% of my transactions which not provided, knowing the keywords would really help. Would love to hear your thoughts?

Looking for a solid educational piece for continuing education for our staff on Google analytics.
Particularly, the updates that have been made in the last few months with the new interface. Any suggestions? Book and course are of interest.
