Seo using images
-
I have a client that creates a lot of custom jewelry and takes pictures of it. They've been reluctant to part with it for fear of competitors stealing their designs, but I was able to finally wrastle them into submission and get them to release 30+ original images. I had some ideas about it, but I was wondering if you guys could help me brainstorm doing some linkbuilding using these images.
1. tag them all on pinterest
2. create a slideshow using them and upload to slidesharing sites
3. create a flickr account and upload all the images
4. search for other image/slideshare gallery sites and upload to them. (I welcome any suggestions regarding this).
Any other suggestions for submissions? I was also thinking of creating some written content around each image. What type of web properties would be best for for example a FAQ about custom made emerald rings, or other types of jewelry.

You could make them available via Creative Commons on condition that a link is provided back to the originator's website if they're used.
Google have recently stated that they've made an improvement to their algorithm in the way that size is a ranking factor, so make sure the large versions of the image are of decent dimensions, but don't forget to compress the image. And keyword related filenames and alt tags will help people find them of course.
Do the pictures look AMAZING? Unique? Professional? If they're great/different photos it'll make people more likely to share them.
Some studies have shown that photos with eye contact can be more successful, is the jewellery modelled? And pictures of cute animals always go down well, how about jewellery for dogs, cats, or chameleons etc?
How about offering free photos and jewellery to influential bloggers in the niche in return for a review and link?
If you created the best step-by-step guide to making jewellery on the Internet, that would get a load of links, but as your client has only just agreed to share the images perhaps they won't be open to doing something like that yet...

That's a great idea, I forgot that a video can be a collection of stills
Any advice on which video sites to use? Should I be embedding links into the youtube videos? Which sites would give me a do-follow link?

I would also create videos showing specific types of jewelry (rings, chains, etc.) and post them on video sites. Make sure you brand the videos and tags them to your client's site.

Removing spam back links (Using GWM and SEOMOZ)
Hi, I have noticed that I have got some unwanted spammy back-links. I want to get rid of them. From what I read on Internet, there are two ways to doing it. Using disavow tool in GWM. Contacting individual webmaster and asking them to remove the mentions or links. I have already added the links in the disavow tool and Google has accepted the request. Is it necessary to ask those webmasters to remove the link as well?

Am I using my Blog properly? -- Advice Please
Hello... I am just looking for some feedback in regards to the blog on my website. I am using the blog to create unique and fresh content, hoping that it will in turn help my site attract visitors and better rankings... My question is, does each post have to be at least 500 words or is a 300 word post fine? I do put hyperlinks back to the correlating pages on the site inside each of these posts, just wanted some feedback on if everything i write needs to be roughly 500 words..... Here is my blog if you want to take a look at what I've been doing and provide any feedback..... thanks!

Best SEO Friendly URL
Hi. Currently I'm using the following url: mysite.com/this-is-the-news-title/news-1234 The news title followed by the directory and the news id. Same goes to mysite.com/my-name/user-123 I think its better for SEO since the relevant words (news title and name) are to the left of the link. But some people are saying that this is not good for SEO because crawlers can't "organize" the urls in directories. So they say its better to use: mysite.com/news/this-is-the-news-title/1234 mysite.com/user/my-name/123 Cause then the crawler know what is a news and what is a user. What do you guys think? Thanks.

How useful/ damaging is it to have links repeated on every page ?
Our site is dynamic in nature we have tens of thousands of indexed pages with numerous individual brands pages - all of the brand pages are equally important. We are trying to distribute link juice to those pages as much as possible - so my question is --- Is it smart and or useful or perhaps damaging or spammy to have a space on the bottom of each page throughout our site with links to each and every single brand page ? is this practice considered as duplicate content etc ?
