Why do crawlers still track meta keywords if it is not needed in my site?
-
I have crawled three sites already and it returns more than 5000 errors most of which are MIssing Meta Keywords tags. The sites are on Wordpress and using my SEO plugin I can easily edit the meta keywords of each page, but I am having second thoughts. Well should I?
-
Yes thank you they are all filled in
-
Oh it was just a warning, my bad. What is SCO?
-
Please forgive any grammar or strange word errors I'm using my smart phone to dictate this.
The reason that the crawler gives you statistics on keywords is because it is a bot and if you can imagine like Pac-Man it follows a track of code. It's going to continue and give you as much information as possible. Some people like to use keywords for reasons that I cannot think of maybe to throw off the competitor and it is better to have more information then less information my opinion that is the reason. I don't recall it ever being called an error. However I will check considering I no keyword tags and I have no errors regarding anything like that. Although I will doublecheck for you. I believe that you might want to doublecheck those errors and make sure that they're actually calling for an error because of the keyword tag and not just letting you know the Notework of the keyword tag or what information. The reason that SCO plug-ins for the reason that the Seo plug-ins for WordPress use them is because it's thought of as a staple of SCO and they would be considered probably by the general public is a bad plug-in they didn't have keywords they don't want to upset those that don't understand. Total guess that's just my thoughts. However WordPress SEO by Yoast if you look at that it advises you not to you use keyword tags. Or I believe it says you can enable them but I don't know why you'd ever want to use them. I hope I've answered your question please let me know if I can be of more help sincerely,
Thomas

Meta Keyword Tags I would totally ignore, of no help or relevance really.
I would insure your meta descriptions are all filled in correctly though as Google will sometimes use these in the results as snippets under your URL

New to Moz, need some probably basic answers about Keywords, Linking, Competitors and General SEO
Hi, So I have quite a lot of data colelcted about my site now, regarding keyword research, page crawling and competitor research ect. But I find myself second guessing myself about what I have done and what to do next. I have done basic research for as many relevant keywords I could think of to my site, including branded and non branded terms. If the main competitive keywords for my niche are very competitive, shall I start doing more research for long tail keywords and only try to rank for them? Does is matter how many keywords I am doing research for? Does is matter how many keywords I try to optimise for each webpage? Are the amount of branded keywords I am researching skewing my results? As they are all ranked #1, but nearly all of the non branded keywords are much further down the list... Once I have decided what keywords are worth trying to ranking for for each page, are the techniques to actually rank more highly for them - Title, H1 Tag, Description, Meta Data, Fresh Content and using the keywords on the page? Or are there more techniques I haven't heard of? Under Keyword Rankings - I noticded that some of my keywords are directing to specific pages, like "Cavity Waxes" is directing to the URL ending in .com/cavity-waxes - How do you assign the keywords im researching to specific URLs? - Or does Moz do it automatically? As most of my keywords seem to be unassigned to any URL, is that because they are not ranking highly enough? How do I best use the data collected through Moz? Good practices? Techniques? Tips and Tricks? What is the best practice for finding potential link partners and asking them for mutual linking? Techniques for finding partners that are likely to link with us, but still provides link juice. I must apologise for this long-winded set of questions, but these are troubling me! Any help would be greatly appreciated, Kind regards, Max Johnson

How to push negative product review sites down.
Hi Guys, One of my respected clients have some issues with negative product review sites coming up when they search their brand name on google. So for an exmaple, when I search for Company Name on google, the 3rd and 4th results are angry customer reviews. This is harming my clients brand so bad. My questions are, 1. What should I do to push these results down. I am happy to do pretty much ANYTHING to push these sites down. 2. I'm also thinking of doing a blog for this client for SEO purposes and wondering the pros and cons of having the blog as a subdomain vs subfolder. Which will help me to again, push the negative site links down. Thanks

Where is the best place to add links on my site?
If I'd like to put links to other sites in my site, is it better to have a page named "Our Helpful Links" etc. instead of just adding them to the bottom of an existing page like I've seen on some sites? I'm asking because I'm wanting to make Google as happy as possible and still add them. Just in case it helps to look at the site yourself to give advise its; http://www.allstatetransmission.net If you see anything else there that I should work on feel free to be hard on it, I value any criticism. Thanks, Jeff

Ranking Tracking Internal Folders
We would like to track the rankings for an internal site. The website runs inside a big corporate website, url example www.domain.com/za/. How can we effectively track the rankings of only the website inside the folder? There is currently no sub domain setup for this site. Any advice would be appreciated.

MozRank: Still valid after Panda?
So I'm trying to quantify some of our drops and I suspect that we've taken some hits on lower quality links (some reciprocals, etc). The problem is most of the metrics I've relied on to help weed out the bad ones seem irrelevant after Panda. So I'm curious, has anyone taken mozRank to task after Panda? Is it still a good metric on valuable links?
